hey everyone, Well I'm on Armour thyroid 30mg I feel really pretty good, lot more energy and clear headed and my joints don't hurt like they use to, But I retain lots of water, I can loose 3 pounds in one morning or gain 4 pounds, I can tell when I gain water weight my feet feel fat and my legs feel heavy, I've been trying to do alot of walking and drinking dandelion tea which helps, but can't understand why I'm retaining water. Any thoughts?

You can have problems if you drink too much - with your kidneys. You don't have any problems cause of it do you? I'd just cut back now. When I first started tx I was drinking water CONSTANTLY and my doctor finally said to me "you really don't need to overdo it that way - you drink plenty of other things during the day and they should be counted in with the amount of water.
I have tried bottled water, letting water sit in the frig, yet the only water she will drink is the water I mix in her gravy train food. I am glad I can get her to drink this much water but I know she needs to be drinking more. It hasn't affected her health so far and I would like to take care of this problem before it does. What should I do??
Hi Thanks for writing to the forum! Extreme thirst is seen in diabetes, both diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus. The majority of the day, I'm drinking water, except I have coffee in the AM and decaf green tea in the afternoon. I was getting leg cramps, too. I added some zinc to my supplements and somebody told me about pickle juice. I know it sounds nutty, but I bought some dill pickles (which I like anyway) and periodically would take a couple of teas of the juice out and drink it. I has the chloride in it, which on some of my labs was low.
Drink water and be conscious that you are drinking an adequate amount. More water should be taken in when the body is stressed by environmental or internal conditions. I have never heard any doctor recommend against water except when a person is hospitalized for certain conditions or before certain tests. I think we need to follow doctors instruction unless we have very compelling reasons why not.

As I had mentioned in my first post, my wife's doctor recommended magnesium and bananas(potassium) for her menstrual-related muscle spasms. I did some research on my own and found that some doctors also recommend magnesium for back pain and muscle spasms. As I understand, magnesium and potassium are natural muscle relaxants. So far the combination has seemed to help in my case. I have not had the vibrating sensation for almost two days. My lower back pain has eased up somewhat too.
I have a lower back and neck problem and have been taking a new water pill which may have depleted potassium in my body as some have suggested and take a sleeping pill also almost every night. I will start potassium pills to see if that helps.
esp for a male who can easily get FLUTD from dry foods esp if not drinking enough water..dry foods have only 10% moisture where wet has 78%. but whatever canned or wet be very sure the food is GRAIN FREE....grains aren't good for cats, they can't digest them and this can cause 'gas' two excellent varieties are Wellness and EVO. but there are others. Electrolytes like sodium, potassium and chloride should be part of some of your bloodwork throughout TX. That much water under normal conditions would be harmful, diluting them too much, but the drugs seriously deplete H2O in the cells so you need it all. Do what your body tells you.

Hello. I have a pembroke welsh corgi who has recently started drinking water more than usual and urinating sometimes 4 times during each visit outside, of which there are about 5 potty trips daily. She can't seem to wait to get off the deck in some cases and urinates just outside the door. There is only one step off the deck to get to the yard and she doesn't seem to have troubles managing it, she just can't seem to wait. So far though, there have been no accidents inside the house.
To prevent dehydration when you have diarrhea, it is important to drink plenty of water also you should drink fluids that contain sodium, chloride, and potassium (Fruit juices, sports drinks, sodas without caffeine, and salty broths) as they are lost if you have a lot of diarrhea. So far it has only happened after driving. The most frequent occurrences are when I stop to get gas for my car on my way to work.
