418165 tn?1295753981 I noticed the other day her cough, (this is the only symptom shes had), had came back a little worse then it was before. So we go to the dr and have another x-ray and shows pneumonia in the same spot, same size and everything.
Avatar n tn it takes a few weeks, I have seen people be sick with it for 6-8 weeks, my mom was in the hospital with it for 2.5 weeks and it was another month or longer before she was better once she got home.
1396846 tn?1332459510 I am so happy she is home. I was spending most of my free time at the hospital and sitting there in those chairs and worrying about her was taking a toll on me. I am planning a weekend of rest. I know she is going to need my help so I need to do what I can to take care of myself too.
Avatar n tn It was repaired two days later. She suffered aspiration pneumonia and a UTI fungal infection in the hospital. She was finally transferred to a rehabiliation center after being in the hospital for 4 weeks. In the rehab center, they told us she now has MRSA pneumonia. What are her chances of overcoming all of this? She is on a trach and at times seems very coherent. How much longer do we let her endure all of this? She never says she's in pain or uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn s nurse recommended this and she was air transported to bigger hospital. Dr in ER thought she had Pulmonary Embolism. Her Dr saw her in hospital today and said she has pneumonia and caused her to have blood coming up when she coughed.
620048 tn?1358018235 I have " wanted to put me in the hospital" type pneumonia, but I wanted to stay home so my Dr put me on predisone, Levequin, nebulizer 4 times a day and i am using my hubby's oxygen...its been a little over a week and I am a bit better. I am so tired, fatigued, exhausted..all I have to do is get up or even talk on the phone and i am weak. It is complicated by copd and asthma ..my pulmonolgist has not seen me yet and it seems all they are interested in is my sleep apnea..
Avatar f tn I'm a 32 year old male in Canada. I'm 185lb,5'9". I've had a dull chest pain on my left side right under my armpit area and around to the center of the chesty for the past 4 months. I've been ignoring it as it was such a dull pain I'd almost call it a sensation instead of pain. So I had the flu last week as did my whole family. I was hit hard, very weak, major headache, neck and back ache, fever. Never developed much coughing but felt a bit phlegm.
Avatar f tn My baby has been diagnosed with pneumonia, a week ago. She still acts as if she is in pain, and has short rapid breaths. She is on Zeniquin, and a pain med. She was originally in an oxygen kennel for 2 days, and was pretty good when we brought her home. Now it seems like she gets these bouts of gasping for air, her gums are still pink. I am startin to think her vets arent sure what is wrong with her.
Avatar m tn It is a shame that meds are so expensive, I am lucky to have help otherwise I would either not eat or take my meds. I took care of many patients who came into the hospital with exacerbations from their diseases. Many cases were because they could not afford the meds that would keep their diseases in check. Unfortunately, docs would label them "non-compliant" because they weren't taking their meds.
Avatar n tn You may need to even just get admitted to the hospital for a week or so, and get things under control again, some patients have a really hard time shaking pneumonia, and need supportive treatment. But first figuring out what pathogen or lack there of caused the pneumonia would be the best, and then go from there. I hope you get better soon, take care.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 22 year old woman, I don`t smoke, I was treated with levaquin for community acquired pneumonia for a little more than a month (horrible side effects), I was in the hospital 3 times, for 5 days in two of them (the second one was a relapse) and only ER the third one. What is unnusual for me is that the last hospital diagnosed me acute bronchitis and the other ones pneumonia,(the gap between the 2nd and the third hospital was 2 weeks, is this logical???).
Avatar f tn I said i didnt know whether i wanted it or not at first cos i never get ill... then with in 2 weeks i had a cold and a sickness bug (the most illnesses ive had in about 10 years!) So i went back and said yes please give me the shot!!
Avatar f tn I posted yesterday, my friend is in the hospital w pcp pneumonia. He did wake up a little yesterday, which was the first in a few days. Today they said his cd4 count is 3. Any input will be greatly aprreciated.
Avatar n tn What do you mean, what to do? Is this you or a loved one? They will treat the pneumonia. Is she in the hospital?
Avatar m tn I ended up in the hospital yesterday because I cut myself deeply with a knife. While I was waiting to be seen I noticed quite a few other patients that were bleeding as well. I read in the forums that HIV can be transmitted through two bleeding wounds that would require stitches, that mine did. I did my best to avoid the other patients, but I was always in close proximity to them. One patient was bleeding from the back of his head.
Avatar m tn Also mother developed pnuemonia while in the hospital and I am wondering if this was because she was taking in fluids by mouth while not having the ability to swallow
Avatar m tn First time, the doctor noted traces of pneumonia in his chest and gave him Amox for 10 days. He was fine for another 10 days and got it back. This time, he got better only with IV antibiotics. He was ok for another 10 months with on and off colds, but this time he developed pneumonia again and had to be treated with oral antibiotics. I want to know if there is anyway to help prevent reccurence of pneumonia? Will there be any damage to his lungs because of reccurence of pneumonia?
620048 tn?1358018235 Darn, erased my message by accident...actually I did find out that my pneumonia was caused by my swallowing while I was in the hospital before. They sent me home with some guidelines which I tried to following but I eveidently didnt do enough. I saw and talked to saw so many Drs and nurses while there....but my mind just gets bogged down with so much information plus I was sick.
211940 tn?1267881266 This is an area I know a lot about. I am in the hospital right now mostly due to aspiration pneumonia. Pneumonitis is the inflammation of the lung due to aspirating "stuff" into it. The difference is that pneumonitis doesn't respond to antibiotics - even though many doctors put patients on them. The fever - mine goes to 104 (just this past Monday) is caused from the damage done to the lung tissue - as opposed to bacteria or virus.
Avatar m tn Mortality from influenza is increased in patients with cirrhosis. Therefore, these patients should receive annual injections of influenza vaccine. During flu season cirrhotics are part of the high risk groups that are given priority for obtaining the vaccine. As far as other levels of liver disease or treatment, there is no standard recommending all of these vaccinations. Obviously they can't hurt. As you will never have to worry about becoming infected with these viruses. Cheers!

898849 tn?1241811271 I just heard about the recent death in Washington where the individual had a heart condition, pneumonia and swine flu. I was recently diagnosed with CHF in January, so all this is still very new to me.
Avatar m tn t know if this is kidney infection. I had this when I was young, and I was hospitalized. Is your daughter in the hospital? If so, doctors shoud be able to determine this.
Avatar m tn Also important is the severity of the Bronchomalacia, that can vary from mild to very severe. What the pulmonologist may have observed may be mild Bronchomalacia in the final stages of resolution. These are questions you should ask of the pulmonologist. I assume that she is a Pediatric Pulmonologist and should be able to answer your questions. The following statements are taken from The Kliegman-Nelson Textbook of Pediatric Medicine and, I believe, support reason for optimism.
Avatar f tn A couple of questions--How long was your father in the hospital (is he still in the hospital)? What was his health like before the surgery; did he have other health problems? How old is he? Did the doctors say there were any problems or complications with the surgery? From what I understand, in this part of the US where we live, most patients are in the hospital for 4 to 7 days after bypass (if the surgery goes well without any problems or complications.
Avatar f tn I know that sounds crazy but my due date is April 25 but at my last ultrasound dr said baby is measuring a week ahead. That was in January. Well today my uterus is measuring 4 weeks bigger... Hopfully the ultrasound monday will clear some things up...
