Massive hemoptysis common causes are bronchiectasis, tuberculous and other pneumonias and bronchogenic carcinoma. Dizziness could be due to blood loss causing hypotension. Avatar f tn Examples might include a necrotizing (tissue destructive) pneumonia following aspiration or chronic infection distal to an obstructing bronchial adenoma. Often, however, BXSIS evolves due to conditions that are inherent to the patient's basic genetic constitution. The most common and dramatic example of this is cystic fibrosis (CF).

Avatar f tn (CNN) -- A South Carolina woman undergoing treatment for infection with a rare case of "flesh-eating" bacteria was in critical but stable condition Thursday at Greenville Memorial Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. Lana Kuykendall, 36, "underwent her fifth debridement surgery to remove necrotic, or dead, tissue from her lower leg," said Sandy Dees, senior media relations coordinator for Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, in a news release.
Avatar n tn If there is any problem with this dead tissue (necrotizing) and either you or your vet is concerned about it, it might be worth considering Maggot Therapy (bio-debridement) If there are any feelings of horror or disgust about this treatment, I'll just mention that there have been remarkable results with this form of therapy, not only in stripping away necrotizing tissue but stimulating new growth of healthy tissue. This is used in veterinary medicine as well as Human medicine.
Avatar n tn Husband had headache with 103 fever off and on (mostly on) for more than a week. Finally, on the third time to the ER, they admitted him, diagnosing with pneumonia. 757137 tn?1347196453 Hello, Unfortunately I am unaware of any such treatment for lipomas. Usually lipomas do not need any treatment unless they become painful or are cosmetically unpleasant. They are treated by simple excision which is done under local anesthesia. Other treatment options are liposuction and injection of compounds that trigger lipolysis, such as steroids or phosphatidylcholine. You should discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar n tn If you have a virus that resulted in pneumonia, while allopathic medicine has little in the way of anti-virals, there are plants that have anti-viral properties. Olive leaf and elderberry are two examples. Herb Pharm makes a tincture that helps with virus control. That being said, though, and assuming this is viral in nature, once you have pneumonia you have progressed significantly through the viral process already and the more important thing is clearing the lungs.
Avatar m tn ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE THE SAME . WOULD BE INTERESTED IN CORRESPONDING WITH YOU VIA INTERNET/TELEPHONE AS TO WHAT TREATMENT ETC YOU ARE RECEIVING. THANKING YOU WILLIAM This discussion is related to non-systemic vasculitis.
Avatar m tn These complications can include dehydration, ear or sinus infections, and bacterial or viral pneumonia, which can fill the air sacs in the lungs with pus or fluid, making it difficult to breathe and depriving older patients of adequate oxygen. In some cases, pneumonia may be asymptomatic, but it is still contagious if it results from a bacterial or viral infection.
Avatar f tn If there is attendant difficulty of breathing, some patients are advised to undergo radiation treatment. Others would go for secondary chemotherapy. I'm assuming that your father is a smoker. Smokers generally have episodes of cough which may be accompanied by voice changes. The doctor would likely evaluate the need for antibiotics - and this treatment may improve both cough and hoarseness. Discuss your concerns with your doctor and come up with an acceptable plan.
620048 tn?1358018235 that is recommended for treatment of pneumonia. The steroid is probably more for your COPD then the pneumonia itself as your breathing is probably worse. In hospital they would have started you on IV steroids and then tapered you to the oral dose. most people stay in the hospital only a few days with moderate pneumonia. With the added respiratory problems maybe you would have stayed in another day or two. Depending on your respiratory status prior to the pneumonia could be 2-4 weeks.

898849 tn?1241811271 I read a recent newstory that stated that Swine flu can be potentially more lethal in people with heart disease because medications used to reduce fluid build up in their lungs will fail to work as effectively if they catch the flu, also the stress of trying to fight off a fever can be too much for their hearts. Cardiologists are recommending that patients with heart disease be among the first to receive the Swine Flu vaccine.
Avatar f tn It brings to mind for me when my Mom was fighting cancer. She had always said if diagnosed with it she would elect to not take treatment as the treatment can be worse than the disease. It takes your dignity she said. Yet when she got it, she grasped at the treatment that would only give her a few more months to live, she lost her hair after the first chemo. Deathly sick to her stomach and weak. They gave her 6 weeks and she lasted 6 months and thru it all she suffered.
Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
