Paxil withdrawal dizzy

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil withdrawal dizzy

paxil

Avatar n tn Yes, it is a very common withdrawal effect...not much to do about it except go back to extremely low dose of paxil for a few days and wean again..probably better off just toughing it out, shouldn't last more than another few days to a week...
Avatar f tn I have taken 10mg. Paxil for about 2 years. I have not taken it in 2 days, I'm feeling really dizzy and at times disoriented. Is this normal and will it go away?
Avatar m tn My doctor says it is just the vertigo from the ear infections and refered me to a ENT. But i think these other symptoms are form the paxil withdrawal because why didnt i have these sounds the past year i have been suffering from vertigo.I also realize now that when i was on paxil if i missed a dose i would get these same symptoms but thought nothing of them back then because they would go away when i caught up my missed dose. I do not want to go back on it to cure the problem.
Avatar f tn First, this could still be withdrawal from the Paxil. By essentially taking two drugs at once you eliminated the possibility of knowing which symptoms are withdrawal and which are from the new drug. Your taper off Paxil was way too quick for that drug, and a lot of your symptoms sound more like withdrawal symptoms than side effects of Wellbutrin. But also, wellbutrin is very stimulating and not usually used for anxiety for that reason.
Avatar f tn Okay, first, did you taper off Paxil first? Or did they cut you off cold turkey? Paxil is one of the most difficult medications to stop taking. Switching you abruptly from one med to another will not prevent the withdrawal from the first med, and all the symptoms you've described are classic Paxil withdrawal symptoms. Maybe you did taper off slowly, but you don't say so here.
Avatar n tn t, go to the ER and get an emergency refill. As soon as you take another Paxil, the withdrawal will start to fade. And then get a different psychiatrist right away; this one is nuts.
Avatar m tn I take the pill at night, no set time just once a day at night, and I’ve read that Paxil withdrawal symptoms can start hours after a missed dose, but would this effect me having only been on it Since mid December? I’ve never missed a dose but I don’t take them at the same time everyday, would it even be embedded in my system enough for it to cause withdrawals if I missed a dose by a couple hours?
Avatar f tn Sounds like it's mostly the withdrawal from the Paxil. Going on and coming off Paxil are always really horrible. Symptoms will subside once your Seretonin starts firing normally again. You may want to start taking 5HTP to help with the withdrawal. You can buy this product at any drugstore or even walmart. It really does work to increase seretonin.
Avatar f tn You can't take Paxil that way. Yes, you're probably putting yourself into withdrawal -- Paxil stays in the body a very short time, a matter of hours, and if you don't get a new dose withdrawal can set in. If you want to go off the med, have your psychiatrist put you on a taper schedule and monitor how you're doing; the speed of it is up to you and your body.
Avatar n tn I was on Paxil for a few months and came off and experienced massive withdrawal, worse then my previous Loratab addiction. I came off cold turkey but immediately switched to Zoloft. I was on a high dose of Paxil. The only ache I had was a massive headache 24/7. Massive!! I went back on Paxil for two weeks and I'm off again but it's odd that I have no headache but I have the most horrible back pain. I never had this before starting Paxil.
Avatar n tn I am 66, how long will paxil withdrawal last for me? I have been taking it dor 12 years.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me from Paxil to Wellbutrin due to the decreased sex drive of Paxil. Otherwise Paxil was working well for me. Anyway, my issue is that it was a direct switch, no weaning off of Paxil and I think I'm having the withdrawal. I thought the Wellbutrin would just sort of take over, but I don't think that is the case. I didn't think to ask my doc, and the soonest I can get back to see him is Monday. It's been 5 days w/o Paxil and 4 with Wellbutrin.
Avatar f tn t tell which problems are withdrawal from the first med and which are side effects of the new med. By the way, Paxil is notorious for weight gain -- I gained a lot of weight on it. What you need is a good psychiatrist, as it sounds like you're trying to do this with a general practitioner.
Avatar f tn Yes this is withdrawal. U may have to restart taking ur Paxil and then with the help and support of ur doctor taper off very slowly to minimise these awlful withdrawal symptoms. Get an appointment asap.
Avatar m tn What kind of therapist? First, you didn't have OCD because there was no C, you just had O. Second, you quit Paxil without consulting a psychiatrist? It can be murder or it can be easy or in between, everyone's different, but it should never be done without careful weaning with a psychiatrist who understands Paxil withdrawal, and most don't. As to how long you'll suffer, nobody can tell you that because we all have different experiences and metabolisms.
Avatar n tn re stuck between what may be side effects of a new med and withdrawal from an old one. Better to complete withdrawal from Paxil first. Read a book called The Antidepressant Solution by Joseph Glanville, and get a psychiatrist who knows about these things. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I had a day or 2 of dizziness, but I got the flu 2 days after the switch, so... who knows, could have been flu dizzy or Paxil/Prozac dizzy... but it's gone now. Could it have been that easy a switch over for me? I have heard horror stories about stopping Paxil and even got a warning from my pharmacist about how hard it is to get off Paxil, even though she told me that since Prozac is in a similar "family" of medication the switch should be ok. Oh, I'm babbling now.
983155 tn?1248700406 I get really angry over nothing and I am really dizzy. Is that alot for me to take of wellbutrin to start of .. Is it the paxil wiithdrawls?? Is it the welbutrin?? Help!!
Avatar n tn Back when I was first taking Paxil I had gotten really sick and I had forgotten to take my Paxil for two days, and I got even worse. When i told my doctor I had forgotten to take my pills she freaked and told me It was the beginning of a withdrawal and I can NEVER do that again. and My advice if you are thinking of weaning off Prestiq, to talk to the doctor before you start. they will give you detailed information as to who to go off it.
Avatar n tn Understand this IT is a PAXIL withdrawal..... everything you stated... i just abrubtly came off mine becauase i missed an appt.. and the on call doctor would not schedule me an appt or refil my script.. I have been off for 3 weeks now.. i very very sick... i even feel and felt like i was having electrical shocks.. it takes time for your body to readjust.. to life without meds .. a good therapist.. and you have to watch for spiraling effects depression being one of them..
Avatar n tn Put him on the internet, type in Paxil withdrawal, and make him sit there and read. And why would you ever go off this med cold turkey? Why does anyone still do this after all the lawsuits and revelations and ten years of publicity?

Avatar f tn My dr. After 10 years changes me from Paxil to Zoloft. I immediately was having withdrawal. Called him and he said to take a Paxil, I did he called me in a new script. But now I'm taking 40 mg Paxil and 100 mg Zoloft. Did he mean to just take one pill or or keep taking my Paxil. I'm not so sure. I felt horrible today threw up after waking up way to late. Very dizzy lightheaded. Balance issues. Bad headache.....this is day 4 I've been on both meds. Anyone have any advice?
Avatar n tn I was on Paxil for some time and my doctor said you can't go off it cold turkey. You really should talk to your MD about going off and the dosage reduction over a period of time.
Avatar m tn They are often prescribed together. There is some question whether Buspar works at all, but some believe it does help Paxil work better. As for withdrawal being "easily" remedied, I wonder if that poster has ever been on Paxil or any other ssri? Easy isn't really the description many would use. And I don't think that difference in dosage will affect your withdrawal.
Avatar n tn t tired so I was just relaxing on my computer when all of a sudden I felt like a lump was forming in my throat making it feel like my throat was closing up. Starting to get dizzy, I decided to head up to bed, but the sensation wouldn't go away. I knew if I took a benadryl just to be sure, I could put my mind at ease also and go to sleep. This morning I woke up with the lump gone, but the severe dizziness still present. My family and I went to church and the whole thing felt like a dream.
Avatar n tn If you can handle the Paxil withdrawal, then okay. If not, the only way to stop it is to go back on it and taper more slowly. Again, neither Zoloft or Effexor, which is an entirely different class of medication, will necessarily do anything about your Paxil withdrawal, and sobbing is definitely a sign of ssri withdrawal. I can't tell you what to do, I can only suggest, based on my experience and my reading, the proper way to go off a med, and your doc isn't doing it that way.
