pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Would my knees turning black due to no blood supply be cause from high cholesterol?
Avatar n tn Are there other options for pancreatic enzyme replacement? When I sit it feels like the blood supply or something (like when your foot goes to sleep) to my abdomen is being cut off and this is causing more and more damage. What is being missed here? Not sure how much more weight I can lose. Should point out that I have completely quit alcohol for 5 months now.
Avatar n tn The common causes for vomiting are gastroenteritis (infection), gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, systemic infections, appendicitis, intracranial hypertension, hepatitis, eating disorders, inner ear disorders, and certain medications. Angina or chest pain due to inadequate supply of blood to the heart muscle can produce atypical symptoms of vomiting. This is diagnosed with an EKG or treadmill test. Lung infections like pneumonia and bronchitis can irritate the diaphragm and cause vomiting.
Avatar m tn My husband is a type I diabetic, a complication of pancreatitis he suffered a decade ago. His believes his insulin is not working at night when he sleeps. Can this be explained why insulin that works during the day does not seem to work at night?
Avatar f tn Fish body oil, such as salmon oil (not cod liver oil), and antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, beta carotene, and selenium, may help reduce the risk of acute pancreatitis. Dogs with chronic pancreatitis can be deficient in B vitamins, so a B-complex supplement is also recommended. -------- Hoping that helps a little. I'll be back with more later.
Avatar f tn Also has anyone ever had normal blood levels with pancreatitis?
Avatar m tn Hello, Abdominal pain that comes on suddenly suggests a sudden event, for example, the interruption of the supply of blood to the colon (ischemia) or obstruction of the bile duct by a gallstone (biliary colic). What makes the pain worse? Pain due to inflammation (appendicitis, diverticulitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis) typically is aggravated by sneezing, coughing or any jarring motion. Patients with inflammation as the cause of their pain prefer to lie still.
Avatar n tn My dog had acute pancreatitis over the weekend and I took him to an emergency vet on Sunday and to his vet on Mon. They both kept him overnight, IV, blood work, meds, and his vet did a rectal x-ray and abdominal x-ray with barium to look for obstruction. He found dirt/sand. My dog ate cat poop covered in dirt. He is at home now doing fine and I have him on a bland diet of canned white chicken and brown rice only. However, his lower abd/belly is a little distended and hard.
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor to do a blood test for amylase & lipase levels.
1806721 tn?1554333407 while infarction can be painful it may not be of vital importance unless severe of involving the GI as well which may need to be kept high in suspicion due to a common blood supply. The omental infarction does not increase the risk of GI inflammation. If the pain is severe, it would be advised to visit the ER for appropriate pain management. I would also recommend seeing a gastroenterologist for a lower GI evaluation and suggestion of a specific management plan. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar n tn The green colored vomit could be due to stasis of bile. It could be due to gallbladder disease or pancreatitis. Other possible causes of include bowel obstruction, inflammation of the stomach and small intestines from an unrelated source as well as an unrelated intestinal infection. You will need to consult your treating doctor, who may run blood and urine tests and may sometimes ask for an ultra sonography to detect the cause for the vomiting. . Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with diverculitis but I do know elevated lipsase and amylase is a sign of pancreatitis which can come from many things like meds, cystic fibrosis, genetics, alcohol, or high tryglicerides. Did you dr mention this?
Avatar f tn Is there anyway that all four tests and blood work missed liver disease and/or pancreatitis?
675347 tn?1365460645 Some dogs can overindulge for years and suddenly develop pancreatitis. Symptoms of pancreatitis are vomiting, inability to keep down water, lack of appetite, lethargy and fever as the condition worsens. Treatment is mainly inpatient supportive care. The dog must have complete digestive rest which means nothing - not even water - by mouth. An IV is necessary for fluids, antibiotics and eventually nutrition if the condition persists more than a week - which it easily can do.
Avatar n tn It sounds like your husband has at least pancreatitis based on CT, but it is unusual that the other blood work was normal. Usually pancreatitis presents with elevated amylase and/or lipase. Significant weight loss is concerning for cancer. Jaundice, dark urine, and light stools would also be concerning if present.
Avatar n tn My question is does this mean I have chronic pancreatitis or can you not tell on a MRCP? Does the duct dilatation set off an inflamation of the liver and pancreas and cause the pancreatitis pain? Also can the duct dilatation heal on its own in time? I have no desire to undergo an ERCP as I've heard such nightmare stories from people who have undergone but yet I'm so tired of not feeling good and having pain and just would like to feel good again. Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn I have had ultra sound, upper GI, Endoscopy, CT scan, MRI, MRCP. Hida Scan, back xrays, and all the lab work, that includes blood test for pancreas and liver. They did find two side branch lesions about 1 cm each in the pancreas. The radiologist and my pancreatic specialist said they need to be monitored and no real concern at this time. The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed yesterday in the ER. They found through an abdominal ultra sound the tail is enlarged. I have a family history of pancreatic cancer. They request I do further testing. Is pancreatitis something you can get rid of or is it something that kind of hangs around and "flares up"?
Avatar f tn Dogs, like humans, need a certain amount of fat for good nutrition, but sudden spikes in fat can bring on an acute case of pancreatitis - particularly in a dog who has already had it. Chronic pancreatitis is darned difficult to manage in humans as well as dogs. Please post back and let us know what your vet has to say about the urine sample and your dog's general condition.
Avatar f tn Day 1 chihuahua acted weak and crawled alot with spazuming under left rib cage. Moved around alot would lay in one spot. Day 2 threw up several times. Day 3 vomited white foam mixed with what looked like a raw egg cracked into a cup minus the yoke. Will not eat absolutely anything.
Avatar f tn WHY WON'T ANYONE ANSWER MY QUESTION????? In February I had an amylase level of 170, then in March it went up to 179. So they did a cat scan and ruled out pancreatitis. I have no gall bladder, no pain anywhere, and the liver is fine. NOW IN APRIL the amylase level is 189 and the lipase test is 59. My gastro doctor said he isn't concern and he would retest my blood count in July. OK???? Isn't blood work done to alert doctors there is a problem.
Avatar f tn you are correct, cat food, being richer, has set off his pancreatitis. As you know acute pancreatitis can be a fatal event. It can also be transient. no one knows how your dog will do. Medications will decrease the severity of this event and sounds like if you get him over this you have managed his diet very well. I'd like to see his pancreatic work up and treat him to get him over this quickly and so that it does not progress further.
Avatar f tn My lipase has been mildly elevated, also my ca 19 (panc tumor marker) is double norm and double what it was 4 wks prior. Dr did say pancreatitis and other factors could cause this to rise. My dad died of PC so I am scared I have it. My ab US, CT w dye and EUS were all clear. My dr and the dr that did my EUS said that they do not think its pancreatitis as it does not present this way, nor last this long, they say doubtfully cancer too.
