Oxycodone and seizures

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone and seizures

oxycontin

I came off of oxycodone and vicodin and felt the same way. I am on Neurontin now, which is an antiepileptic medication and that seems to help a lot. Hope this helps. I know that the feeling sucks!
I was sent to neurology who wanted to be on the safe side and sent me for an EEG and an MRI. Both were normal, though they found slight abnormalities in my EEG, with slow waves in my temporal regions. They thought it was basically fine though. They are still investigating me for epilepsy and said if I had another episode, to let them know. A few nights ago, I sustained an injury and woke up with the bed covers strewn everywhere, acheing limbs, fingers bent into claws, exhaustion, etc.
I am 19 years old and got out of rehab about 3 months ago for methadone. I got out and a couple of weeks later i started taking oxys again. Now i am dependant again i really didnt think it would happen this fast but it did. I feel terrible and have no money for the doctor so i cant get on klonopin or sub which really helped me last time but now im cold turkey again and i have had 3 seizures but i cant tell my mother about it or i get kicked from my house. how long untill i feel ok again?
I am nor sure I understand the question regarding the methadone and the oxycodone. is he prescribed both? is he in a methadone program and taking the oxycodone and benzos? It is very important for him to talk to his Doctor and tell him honestly what he has been taking and what dosage so the Doctor can help him ween off at a safe rate. it is not advisable to do this himself, he really needs the Doctor's assistance in tapering off these medications.
Other meds are trazadone, ambien and oxycodone (which she is weaning off), florinef, atenolol. Hospital-based EEG was normal, even during the seizures. Where do we go from here? What could be causing her problem? This is taking a severe emotional toll. Thank you!
] --- I hurt my back again, not terribly (not a trip to the ER) but bad enough I wasn't moving at all for 4 days. A doc-in-the-box got my whole story that I had been taking oxycodone and soma and the normal stuff but hadn't taken it for about 8 weeks. He asked how my pain was and I said, "Worse". He said, "Stupid!" apparently you need to keep the pain at bay or it will cascade. Anyway...
People would get the idea to take ***** like I am for withdrawals and end up flopping like a fish out of water from seizures. Oxy480Jim, I am trying to get the medication that will work enough, oxycodone 5mg is the most they have given me, I have had about 6 tests, numerous blood work tests and the pain is still there, then you also have my back pain. So, taking the max dosage of oxycodone is the only way right now I can control my pain, and it's just enough to control it.
Hello everyone - I've been lurking and I wonder if I could get some help with my problem. I have been suffering with muscle and joint aches/pain and am now (finally) being diagnosed with some type of autoimmune connective tissue disease - most likely Rheumatoid Arthritis.
And I still have 4 months to go. My OB and my pain doctor have spoken and for the past month I have been back on the oxycodone for the pain. I try so hard not to take them because if I caused my baby any harm it would kill me. But I am weak and due to the pain and with the ok of my doctors I take them. Pretty much at least one a day. But I am still terrified of what I might be doing to the baby and worried about addiction and withdrawls for the baby when born.
With the controlled release of the med I'm taking now, things seem to be on an even keel compared to the abrupt ups and downs of the shorter acting narcotics like hydrocodone and oxycodone. As I've said time and again, all I want is a state of equilibrium in my life where everything seems to be safe and secure....and pain free! I suppose that's a lot to ask for as a human being? Somebody said above that they went fifteen years in hell before discovering a med that offered some relief.
i have stagae 3 cancer and been on oxycodone 30 mg for over a year and i just wanna die already this is the worst drug iv ever been on i would rather die from the cancer then live like this so to all of u guys that have a problem its ok u all will find ur way ill pray for all of u...
I am about to go cold turkey on a oxycodone/vicodin dosing of ~150-160mg/day for 6 mo. (before that it was 100-120 mg of vicodin for 1yr and irregular usage for several years prior to that) I have no way to taper and have used Suboxone before as well, with varying success (i.e. obviously it hasn't worked as a final solution for quitting).
Hi, i was wondering if anyone knew the differences between Oxycodone and Tylenol w/Codeine?? I know they both have acetomenophen. But, the Tylenol with Codeine has Codeine obviously. I was taking the one with 30mg. of codeine. Now I have Oxycodone 7.5-325. What is the opiad in this drug? Is it also codeine, or a different drug? I know my body's reaction to the T3, so I am a little nervous to try this new one....oxycodone. Is it stronger, not as strong, the same???
This class of drugs includes heroin, morphine, codeine, methadone and oxycodone (Oxycontin).
I gained about 50 pounds since quitting pain management and it seems to be a lot worse. Did the oxycodone and oxy cotton mask the numbness .
L5 nerve is and they are working on it but by now I'm back on oxycodone, soma and they are using valuim to take me off Ativan and soma. Question1. can being on soma while on valuim cause my words to slur? I'm am working with 3 doctors and they are all telling me something different. If I just stop soma will I not have seizures and be ok because of the valium and in the meantime figure out how many valuim I need to get by? One doc said 2 a day would be enough.
It seems anytime i take an opiate, in my case Oxycodone (percocet/roxicet), shortly before i lay down or try and fall asleep i experience these violent jerks. Id be laying down relaxing and all of a sudden my leg kicks, and recently my whole body just jumped. These jerks are very scary and only happen when i take an opiate. Does anyone else experience what im expaining? What causes it? What does it mean?
I am becoming somewhat frustrated with the way a lot of my colleagues practice medicine. Disenchanted, angry would be the other words that could be used. We all get ostensibly that same training and all of us are supposedly in it to help our patients. So, how come have I been getting so many letters lately on my addiction forum from desperate people unable to quit taking the tramadol pills that their own kind doctors have so freely prescribed for them?
Ny drug of choice is oxycodone.. I have heard mixed things about tramadol, espeacially that it isn;t addictive and or a narcotic.. Like I said, just what I have heard.. I have never taken it.. I will be using the tramadol to keep the withdrawls from happening if it is possible.. What are some of the mg's that you or others have taken to help..
He wrote me a rx for 4 days (enough to get me through the weekend and make a decision. I talked to my husband and MIL and I decided to check into rehab. Monday evening I was FINALLY admitted (the process took 7hrs). I know that suboxone has a 37hr half live and it takes a while to get out of your system. But when I went to rehab I was VERY determined that I did not want any more opioids.
Please please don't judge me or write terrible things I already am feeling the worst I've ever felt in my life. I am 13 weeks and addicted to oxycodone. I am trying to get into the methadone clinic asap. I feel so alone and helpless. I have a child growing inside of me that I feel like I'm killing. I just need some advice and maybe encouraging words to help me through. Should I go to the ER and have them help me? Has anyone ever been in my position?
It is physically dangerous and could cause seizures...and rebound anxiety that is unbearable. Ask me how I know *sweet smile*.....
i also had surgery while addicted to pain meds and had no problems, although i was 26 at the time(28 now). i was mainly addicted to oxycodone which is the drug in oxycontin. before, during and after surgery i was given pain meds like morphine, fentanyl(sp?) and more oxycodone. i had no withdrawal symptoms during my stay in the hospital or any time directly after that. that is only my experience so i'm not sure if you can apply it to your father's case or not.
So the first 16 weeks I alternated vicdion then to oxycodone (was hospilizaed with placenta previa/bleeding early on) and was also on diluaid shots for pain while in the hospital and for my migraines which I have been cursed with more frequently than usual. So my dr and I talked about the fact I felt the vicidon/oxycodone was not working completely without my other meds and I didn't want to take anything that would hurt the baby and if it wasn't working why bother right?
Well I don't know where y'all are from but I am a mother of three and pregnant with my forth I am on oxycodone and I was on it my last pregnancy.
You can not go cold turkey, as it could cause seizures and possible death!...But on the neurontin, found after only two doses, and was due an oxy...that I didn't feel I needed it. Went 12 hrs w/o, then 24/ then 42/ 56/72hrs...you get the picture. Now no desire. Believe me, I wanted it but did not need it as I was not getting the strange tightening of my neck and body when I was late taking one. Speak with your Doctor about this. By the way am clean now from oxy..
Sadly, I have had another bout with morphine and it all but killed me this time. The seizures and halucinations were almost fatal for me. I will try once again to be "normal" and quit this awful insanity. God, please.... J.B.
howdy I'm 33 weeks pregnant, and I have been taking oxycodone, 150mg a day, for two years. my first obgyn doc told me I could kill . my unborn child if I tapered down, or detoxed in any way. so I continued using. I just recently switched ob docs, and my current ob told me it was safe to wean, and to even quit cold turkey. SO, I STOPPED. THIS IS MY 8th day being narcotic free.
he is truly an inspiration to us all...hang in there and Thomas and Wizard can give you their testomonials and help you out with their suggestions......
The doctor realized at that point how bad things were and put me on Topamax to stop seizures (only had 1 more about 2 years later due to running out and waiting for it to arrive thru my insurance-mail order, very dumb on my part), and to relieve the migraines.
