585414 tn?1288941302 The study found the combination to significantly improve negative schizophrenia symptoms, and people taking both drugs experienced fewer of the adverse effects commonly associated with haloperidol, an earlier, smaller, open-label trial had found ondansetron to be useful in treating antipsychotic-induced tardive dyskinesia in people with schizophrenia, and the study patients also showed significant improvement in the disease's symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Ondansetron is used for treating vomiting. Constipation, dizziness and headache are the most commonly reported side effects associated with its use. These symptoms will ware off once you have stopped using the medication. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn HI, Zoloft (sertraline) is used to treat depression, panic disorders and anxiety. Nausea is one the side effects of the drug. If Ondansetron is not helping there are other drugs like antacids and proton pump inhibitors that can give relief. You can ask your Doctor for a change of prescription. Also dietary modification like eating a bland non-spicy food, avoiding alcohol and smoking will help. The answer is based on information provided.
Avatar f tn I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?
1916673 tn?1420233270 As with all meds, there are potential side effects and a specific contra-indication when liver failure is evident, but other than that, I have no hesitation in recommending it for CKF dogs.
Avatar m tn I owe all my knowledge and experience to all of the wonderful nurses at my transplant hospital that have helped me with my own side effects and who care for people with nausea and pain on day-in and day-out basis. When I see their smiling faces as I am wheeled into the recovery room, it feels like my second home. Nurses are true unsung heroes in my book. They have to deal with some pretty nasty stuff yet they do it because someone has to... Much love and respect to all nurses everywhere!
791722 tn?1236886296 However,as you are having these symptoms only after bactrim, pls don’t worry as GI symptoms like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are common side effects of this drug. You should take a healthy light diet like soups, salads, curd, rice etc and avoid fast foods, fried stuff and spicy foods for a while.Use citrus fruits which may mask the nausea and if the symptoms persist then pls take some antiemetic drugs like promethazine or ondansetron(Zofran). Also get your PAP smear repeated. Hope it helps.
14868695 tn?1443396776 I was given one at the hospital yesterday after my ob sent me bc of a pain in my side and really bad vomiting. And now I have a prescription for it. The side effects list is soo long. It says to talk to your doctor to see if the benefits out weigh the risks. Now I don't even want to take it. :( I'm not sure what to do. I have morning sickness but it's not always that bad.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
2062505 tn?1331089288 Everyone is different. People may get very mild side effects or none at all. Others may get some more problematic side effects. Each day may be different. Some side effects come and go. I found that the longer I was on Incivek, the worse I felt. But, I was also on Interferon and Ribavirin. My problem was not getting a prescription anti-nausea med soon enough and also not getting prescription ointment for the rash soon enough.
747988 tn?1396536878 it's not that rare in medicine, think about naloxone, it reverses the effects of opiates and saves lifes in opiate intoxications. Or Flumazenil in Benzodiazepine overdoses. IFN is another level yes, and i don't think that an antiemetic will reverse the effects like magic, but i think it's possible to reverse the effects IFN did to us by a drug that works at the root cause like 3397. Adverse events are common but this has to be as it really takes out the root.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar n tn Celexa is a more preferred drug for OCD at a low dose for children. This drug seems to work the best with the fewest side effects. If you don't mind what type of OCD subject is it?
862235 tn?1336060295 At about the 1 week mark she started experiencing dizziness, a popping in the ears (mostly the left side) and nausea. The symptoms increased in severity until last Friday, when she was really at her worst. We obtained a prescription of Ondansetron (Zofran) that helped with the nausea. Come Sunday she was in sad shape again and I took her to the hospital. They gave her an IV of saline and Ondansetron and sent her home.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Zofran and what are some of your side effects? My morning sickness has been horrible...the worst ever. I am usually in bed all day and feeling like I can't do anything. My doctor initially prescribed Diclegis, but it doesn't help me. It made me sleep all day, causing me to skip meals and drinks. It also have me bad headaches. So I asked my DR to please let me try something else. At this point, I'm in tears because I can't keep anything down. Dr calls in Zofran.
Avatar n tn Ondansetron CAN be given to dogs, but I wouldn't do it without consulting your vet. There could be problems associated with giving it to your dog without your vet first examining him because if the vomiting is from something serious, such as a blockage or intussusception it could mask the symptoms and this could be fatal for your dog. Also, some breeds, like Collies and breeds that were developed using the Collie could suffer fatal side effects from it.
Avatar m tn m not sure if Zofran is used in children but you could ask. Tetrabenzene is used but that has some serious side effects so that might not be for children either. But there are other medications as well. Clonidine in patch form (Catapres) is especially helpful for tic like motions (tardive tourreticism which is a variant of tardive dyskinesia I have as well). I am on Tenex which is helpful as well. I believe both of those are used in children.
454366 tn?1211245301 Litium did give me a hyperactive thyroid condition. The med I was given for that has a side effect of osteoporosis in the lumbar in long term use (Synthroid). I ended up with litium toxicity a few years back because diuretics will cause that. As you know caffine is a diuretic (soft drinks) - which most kiddo's I know tend to drink. I would not allow litium to be given to my child; not going through what I have with it. I have a son who is ADHD.
Avatar n tn My son just called and asked if I could drive him and some friends to the ice skating rink and I sadly had to tell him to ask dad. I heard a bit of sadness in his voice (he is 11) since he and my other children know that mom is always the one to go to for things.Thankfully my husband agreed to drive them but I feel guilty because I know hubby is not going to pick up the slack when it comes to the kids and I am sure that they know this too.
