Common Questions and Answers about Ondansetron side effects

zofran

Avatar n tn Hi there, Ondansetron is used for treating vomiting. Constipation, dizziness and headache are the most commonly reported side effects associated with its use. These symptoms will ware off once you have stopped using the medication. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn HI, Zoloft (sertraline) is used to treat depression, panic disorders and anxiety. Nausea is one the side effects of the drug. If Ondansetron is not helping there are other drugs like antacids and proton pump inhibitors that can give relief. You can ask your Doctor for a change of prescription. Also dietary modification like eating a bland non-spicy food, avoiding alcohol and smoking will help. The answer is based on information provided.
585414 tn?1288941302 A 2006 double-blind, randomized controlled trial indicated that ondansetron may have value in the treatment of schizophrenia, as an adjunct to haloperidol.
1916673 tn?1420233270 As with all meds, there are potential side effects and a specific contra-indication when liver failure is evident, but other than that, I have no hesitation in recommending it for CKF dogs.
Avatar m tn Whether ChemoEmbolization, Ethanol injection into a liver tumor, injecting a cylinder of gold into my tumor or my upcoming radiation cancer treatments, I count and will count on these meds to help me deal with the common side effects post surgery. Of course the IV version is preferable after surgery. Within 3 seconds you can go from the edge of vomiting to no nausea...wala! A true wonder drug for us with cancer and having treatments almost monthly.
791722 tn?1236886296 However,as you are having these symptoms only after bactrim, pls don’t worry as GI symptoms like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are common side effects of this drug. You should take a healthy light diet like soups, salads, curd, rice etc and avoid fast foods, fried stuff and spicy foods for a while.Use citrus fruits which may mask the nausea and if the symptoms persist then pls take some antiemetic drugs like promethazine or ondansetron(Zofran). Also get your PAP smear repeated. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
14868695 tn?1443396776 And now I have a prescription for it. The side effects list is soo long. It says to talk to your doctor to see if the benefits out weigh the risks. Now I don't even want to take it. :( I'm not sure what to do. I have morning sickness but it's not always that bad.
2062505 tn?1331089288 Everyone is different. People may get very mild side effects or none at all. Others may get some more problematic side effects. Each day may be different. Some side effects come and go. I found that the longer I was on Incivek, the worse I felt. But, I was also on Interferon and Ribavirin. My problem was not getting a prescription anti-nausea med soon enough and also not getting prescription ointment for the rash soon enough.
747988 tn?1396536878 3 The current treatment of chronic hepatitis C patients is interferon and ribavirin combination therapy, which is associated with numerous neuropsychiatric side effects, the most common of which are fatigue, depression, cognitive dysfunction, and anxiety.4 Currently, there are very few available therapies for fatigue associated with chronic hepatitis C.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Zofran and what are some of your side effects? My morning sickness has been horrible...the worst ever. I am usually in bed all day and feeling like I can't do anything. My doctor initially prescribed Diclegis, but it doesn't help me. It made me sleep all day, causing me to skip meals and drinks. It also have me bad headaches. So I asked my DR to please let me try something else. At this point, I'm in tears because I can't keep anything down. Dr calls in Zofran.
Avatar n tn Ondansetron CAN be given to dogs, but I wouldn't do it without consulting your vet. There could be problems associated with giving it to your dog without your vet first examining him because if the vomiting is from something serious, such as a blockage or intussusception it could mask the symptoms and this could be fatal for your dog. Also, some breeds, like Collies and breeds that were developed using the Collie could suffer fatal side effects from it.
Avatar m tn Not sure how you hooked onto a 6 month old post, but if you hit the "back to forum" blue words, you will be directed to today's post. We are a fairly active forum and you will find a lot of support and information here. Welcome to the forum and that is great news that you have gotten to week 3 triple with no side effect. I suggest you go to the top and "post a question" and introduce yourself.
Avatar f tn I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?
2147300 tn?1369689688 These drugs do get to be a real pain, trying to balance all the different effects and side effects! BTW, not all hepatologists think there is a problem taking Zoloft at the same time as Incivek. It isn't listed as interacting but my doc was extra cautious just because it is closely related to another drug that is know to interact. It did do it's AD job well, and a little Miralax (recommended by my hepatologist) in my morning tea or coffee worked fine to resolve the constipation.
484033 tn?1208516117 Hello: I just had a colon resection for a stage 2a tumor in the large colon. Thank God they found nothing in the liver, lungs, or 15 lymph nodes, but they want to follow up with "adjuvant" chemo. I might need the take home "pump yourself" type of treatment. I am very anxious about side effects. I don't do well with nausea and I have a phobia against vomiting. (ever since childhood). Any experiences you can relate?
Avatar n tn t gotten any better, I was given lorazepam by my doctor, and went to the health store for melatonin. I am hesitant to take either of these because of the side-effects and possible addiction. i also don't know how they will they will effect my other meds. Has anyone else found something effective for this or has tried any sleeping pills that worked?
Avatar f tn Ladies if your doctor has proscribed u a medication called ondansetron I wouldn't take it. That medication is an off brand name for Zofran. I just saw a commercial that it has side effects on pregnancies and can cause miscarriages. I was taking it until now and I'm 33 weeks pregnant. Mine was only 4 mg but I took about 10 or 11 pills so that's 40-44mg. I don't trust this medication even tho it's for morning sickness and nausea.
Avatar f tn Lol uh yeah if that's the case then doctors should be out of business. Trust me when i say we looked up EVERY remedy out there for morning sickness and NONE of it helped. This prescription definitely worked for her and I'm only saying to talk to your doctor.
2046312 tn?1360379600 No actually, you will be much worse off than if you flushed it, because it will cause really awful side effects in your lower intestines, rectum and anus when it passes through there. Trust me, you don't want to try this. Be sure to read food labels very carefully and eat AT LEAST 20 mg of fat just before each dose. There will be times, all too frequently actually, when you will feel like you can't do it, but you really do have to do it or the tx is not going to work for you.
Avatar n tn It is amazing. Bentonite has no side effects. It energizes your liver. Bentonite solution is used for tens of years in clarifying the wine. You can use any pill, no problem. Bentonite has a physical effect only. Hep. C is almost inexistent in places where population drink water from wells where the water floats on argyle. Try it! It acts immediately.
