Avatar n tn I have been having severe stomach pain with the feeling of trapped gas and belching for the last 2 wks
Avatar n tn t correct the underlying problem, but it can alleviate a good deal of the pain associated with ulcers by reducing the amount of stomach acid (the actual substance causing the pain). Omeprazole and other PPIs can and do give ulcer patients a better quality of life while they heal.

Avatar m tn At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.

Avatar f tn A few months ago, she was put on Omeprazole and after 2 weeks of bad upper stomach pain, she stopped taking it. The problems have resided a bit, but has had pain and nausea every since. After many tests, all coming out normal, she still has not found an answer. The doctors don't have a clue what is wrong, but she believes the omeprazole caused some sort of infection and will be going on antibiotics this week to see if it will help.
Avatar m tn I'd have a look at - http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/indigestion/DS01141/DSECTION=causes It sounds like you need further follow up with your GP.
Avatar m tn Hello. About 10 months ago I started getting pain in my stomach. Since I was previously on a prescription anti inflammatory for tennis elbow my doctor thought it was a stomach ulcer. After a month of omeprazole I was no better and had a stool test for H.Pylori which came up negative. Since then I've been suffering in silence trying to figure out if I can solve the problem myself by changing my diet or taking over the counter medication but have had no luck.
Avatar f tn Went to the doctor and told me it was acid so he prescribed me omeprazole for one week. My stomach felt a lot better but sometimes it still hurts just a dull pain but it worsens if im hungry. Stool is sometimes hard (light brown) and sometimes watery & foamy(light brown) and right now i just pooped a really dark brown one (wet).
Avatar m tn By stretching, or taking off elastic from undergarment, I can get relief from the pain. I thought the omeprazole was working, until recently when I had Taco Bell and my stomach hurt again. Doctor also said I could be lactose intolerant, but it is not set off by milk... I do not know what is wrong with me. Do I have ulcers? Should I see a gastroenterologists instead of my pediatrician?
Avatar m tn First - omeprazole CAN cause abdominal pain as a side effect. You may want to switch to something else, such as Prevacid (you can get over-the-counter), just to make sure. And take a dose twice daily. Second - deal aggressively with the constipation so that it is not part of the equation - that just confuses everything. Miralax (or the store brand) is very good - use a dose every day or even twice a day until the bowels are working well, then cut back.
Avatar m tn He never told me how I got it or what to do about it or even if that was what was causing the morning pain. Does anyone one else have this condition and have the morning stomach pain ? And what can I do for it ?
Avatar m tn Reflux pain irritates the same nerve bundle that is involved in cardiac pain so the symptoms are the same. I've heard it said that nitro will make reflux pain stop.
Avatar f tn I have had lived with stomach pain for years. Most recently, completed a 30 day omeprazole treatment with a reflux diagnosis. Three days after completion of med. symptoms returned. I have a burning sensation in my stomach and naussea tha is worse in the night. It is strong enough to wake me. I do not wish to live on omeprazole but don't want stomach attacks to return where the pain is sharp and prohibits me from standing.
Avatar f tn ever since childhood ive had gas issues, but now as an adult I am either unable to sleep or im waking up early in the morning in so much pain I can barely move because of the gas and discomfort in my stomach. so bad it makes me vomit. the only way the pain goes away is if I take a hot bath, vomit or go to the bathroom. what could this be?
Avatar f tn ve had excessive gas which I hear is normal from the air they pump in your stomach but yesterday I had the sensation of a knot in my throat and near my diaphragm and dizziness. This morning woke up with a violent case of diarrehea that woke me up after only 4 hours of sleep. Are these symptoms normal after endoscopy? I've already called my dr and waiting for a call back.
Avatar m tn Having hunger like pangs and some dull burn in my stomach right at bottom of my sternum. Stomach gets noisy at times either while eating or a few hours afterwards. Have gas off and on and flatulence. Have been taking Omeprazole OTC and seems to help some. Been like this for going on 6 weeks. No bloody stool or vomiting. I have bowel movement every morning with nothing out of the normal as far as stool changes. Pretty much the same every time in color and consistency.
Avatar f tn I have been having upper middle stomach pain right below breast and top of rib cage. The pain is like a dull burning sensation that comes and goes. May last 15 minutes to an hour. My mid back also has a dull ache at the same time. Usually laying flat on my stomach tends to relieve the pain some. It does occur after eating sometime but not with any particular food. It could be cereal or steak it does not seem to matter. I do not have any nausea or fever.
Avatar m tn My 4 year old son has been prescribed 20mg omeprazole for unknown stomach pain. I heard that PPIs such as this can increase the risk of pneumonia and he has a horrible chest cold. cough right now, should I discontinue taking this medication until this passes? Are the chances of it turning into pneumonia greater if he is on omeprazole? Or is this risk factor only for prolong use?
Avatar m tn Was given endoscopy and prescribed omeprazole (40mg) until next endoscopy in one year. Was told the pain should go away in about a month. It's been about 2 months and the pain is still just as bad. Could I not have a hernia or ulcer and could this have been overlooked somehow in the endoscopy?

Avatar n tn I wonder whether I can just take Sulfasalazine and avoid Naproxen (pain killer) and Omeprazole (acid reducer) if pain is within my endurance level. I really dont want to upset my stomach by flooding with drugs. By the way, can the disease damage any joints in the later years even though drugs are being taken to control it. What are the percentage of recovery or is there any case of having full recovery.
Avatar n tn Right now, however, towards the end of my treatment and nearing my next appointment, I feel no better. On the omeprazole, the symptom is controlled, but off the omeprazole, my stomach becomes extremely bloated, I am in constant discomfort, and there is even a lot of reflux depending on what I eat. I have also been put on a high fiber diet for this entire duration, and have removed anything that inflames my stomach from my diet.
Avatar f tn This is not uncommon immediately after cholecystectomy and the cycle can usually be broken by giving sucralfate to coat the stomach and let i t heal. The stabbing pain comes from spasm of the pylorus. Generally, after a month of treatment the meds can be stopped. Was your gallbladder removed due to stone disease or dyskinesia? This is more common when the indication was a dysfunctional gallbladder.
