Avatar f tn I have the same problem which I, too, thought might be caused by Omeprazole. I did find, like CalGal, a link between Omeprazole and a cough, and it was also causing itchy skin down my spine area. Changing my PPI to Lansoprazole recently has not made the slightest difference, and I continue to cough all day and all night, a dry, irritating cough. I also have gastritis, oesophagitis, a Hiatus hernia, none of which had been symptomatic other than nausea, and a lack of desire to eat.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering!
Avatar m tn This all started 2 months ago when I was drinking some diet coke from a glass and a small piece of ice went in my throat and my throat spasmed up.2 days later i went to the ER and they did a throat xray and nothing there. Doctor gave me omeprazole. Don't know why. A week later i had an endoscopy and I was diagnosed with chronic gastritis. Normal esophagis. No h. pylori.

Avatar f tn Hi Selma Thanks for your reply, I had a test for h pylori and it was negative, my main problem is the breathing, I cant tell whether its asthma or something else, I would have thought the lansoprazole and omeprazole would have cleared up the acid by now if it was that causing the asthma. I have been avoiding any foods that can cause reflux for a week now but the breathing seems to be getting worse.
Avatar n tn You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.
Avatar m tn Perhaps your son has allergies to foods with acids? Both orange juice and spicy foods have lots of acid content. You could trial him out on the over the counter Zantac, which is an H2 blocker, and will help with allergic reactions as well as indigestion. Or his own production of gastric acids are in excess and with the added acids in those foods, it leads to sweats, like when people eat hot chilli or hot wings.
Avatar n tn It is continual, all the time until I go to sleep and starts again as soon as I wake up. I have seen my GP who prescribed Omeprazole and the Lansoprazole but neither made any difference at all. I was referred to a Gastroenterologist and last week I had an upper digestive track gastroscopy which was normal and showed nothing untoward. This leaves me thinking this may be a psychological / nervous tick type issue. Can someone recommend any organisations, anything that night help?
Avatar f tn So I have GERD and regularly take PPIs (one 20 mg pill per day, I rotate between Omeprazole, Esomeprazole, and Lansoprazole because they seem to lose effectiveness after a while if I just stay on the same one indefinitely) but for the past several days I've had excessive gas and heartburn. I've stopped eating all spicy foods as a result but it so far hasn't helped. Is it safe to double my PPI dosage for a week or two to see if that helps me alleviate this issue?

Is this a side effect of the tablets?? i have been taking these tablets 6 weeks in total but i am stil suffering severly with bloating and my stomach is constanlty rumbling. Does this sound like h pylori or does anyone else suffer sever bloating from these omeprazole tablets.

Avatar f tn I have been using PPI medication Omeprazole until early this year where I got switched to Lansoprazole which I also got diagnosed with silent reflux (LPR) due to loosing my voice. I also take Gaviscon Advanced 3-4 times a day for the acid and heartburn. My lifestyle changed due to these diagnoses I eat more healthily and exercise more to try and keep the weight healthy. I am to have my three year check up due to the Barrett's of the Oesophagus.

Avatar f tn Hi all. I am female and 28 years old, I have type 1 diabetes and I am on insulin. Mostly well controlled. Last December, I started having weird stomach problems where I lost my appetite to the point where I had starvation ketones, and would feel very nauseous and ill after eating the most basic foods. (Bananas and bread). I would start shaking and need to lay down.

Avatar f tn However, does anyone have any advice on some home treatment or OTC medicine that I could use for this infection. This has been going on (off and on) for months, and this pain and burning is becoming unbearable. Also, several of my remaining teeth on that side has become loose. I have had teeth extracted in the past because of this problem. Thank you.
