Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar f tn Please be careful with using Neurontin... my husband who is addicted to opiates has become addicted to the Neurontin as well. It may sound silly, and I don't have a ton of knowledge on drugs and such, but you can find and read countless forums with people talking about how they abuse the drug, and the horrible withdrawals they go through when running out of it.
9704730 tn?1405741284 My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly. I wanted to know if it is possible that I am still in withdrawal from the tramadol or if it's the neurontin.
Avatar f tn You are experiencing side effects of Neurontin, is all. Diff people react diff ways to it. Me, I have nausea that bothers me a lot. The weight gain you ask about is one of the side effects, as are the other problems you are having. I've been taking it for two years, and I also started out on Lyrica, but becuz of cost I had to switch. Neurontin has only been around for about 15 years, so for at least for that length of time you're good.
Avatar f tn I have been on Percocet for 10 years and then was taking Ultram to not have withdrawal but after reading all the horror stories on here about Ultram, I tried the Neurontin. I have been on it for 3 days and no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I am shocked. I heard it is not addictive either so I'm staying on it for a week or two and then stopping to see if the Perc are out of my system.
Avatar n tn so you are familiar with neurontin?
Avatar m tn On august 1st, I quit suboxone at 8mg, I had been taking ALOT of neurontin aka gabapentin during the withdrawal to help with symptoms, I was taking around 6,000 to 7,000 mg a day, somedays even 10,000mg but that amount was very rare.
Avatar f tn t really pass the blood/brain barrier well. If you really want to treat withdrawal with GABA, the drug to take is Neurontin, if you want to take a drug. To get GABA naturally, best to take taurine, the amino acid that makes it along with B-6, and some relaxant herbs such as kava or passionflower. Withdrawal from Prozac doesn't usually begin if it begins at all until a while after you stop, since it stays in the body for a long time, unlike other ssris.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome. There are a lot more people here that can help you better than I. But wanted to respond to ur post. The worst of the wd's should be over in 3-5 days. There is some things you can do to ease the Wd's symptoms like the thomas recipe. Exercise, hot baths. Good luck and welcome again. Don't give up keep fighting.
5862405 tn?1378570692 If someone has nausea as a side effect of Neurontin, does anyone how long until it subsides, or whether it does at all?
1551327 tn?1514045867 Any support would be greatly appreciated and I will keep everyone posted on how I am doing throughout the process. There are not many people addicted to Neurontin from what I have seen but I will be one of the first to explain and list how I feel going through this process in case it helps someone else along the way. I'm coming back and I am going to find myself again.
Avatar n tn How long does it take to wean off of xanx I have taken them for years. Could it be fatal to just quit cold turkey. I tried once but I went into immediate withdrawal and became seriously ill. I take .5 mg 3 times a day. I really want to stop, but have full blown panic attacks or cannot sleep at all after I skip a dose. Help!
Avatar f tn t planning on being on it for too long, but I am amazed at how much easier the withdrawals are this time, then the last time. (Yeah I relapsed, sorry) But I dusted myself off and started again.
Avatar m tn How long does Effexor XR withdrawal last? I understand the time frame will be different for everyone, but I'm assuming there is a general window that most people fall into? A few weeks? Months?? Some background: I've only been on anti-depressants for four months. I was first put on Zoloft while I was inpatient for an eating disorder, but it didn't seem to do anything. Two months ago I was switched to Effexor 150mg/day, as well as Neurontin 900mg/day.
Avatar m tn I have been through withdrawals before without taking anything so I know how difficult there are. But with the neurontin I hardly had any withdrawal symptons.

1415174 tn?1453243103 Just to say, the post you're responding to is 11 years old so don't know if they're still here. Might be. I just wanted to say, since some will see this, that it's hard to find any prescription drug that doesn't have a ton of side effects. We keep finding more of them as the drug ages, and neurontin is an old drug.
Avatar f tn FYI......Google neurontin & withdrawal.......I have read horror stories. i dont know how real they are as most seem to be posted around the time of the lawsuit...lol. I have taken it for a while and stopped with no withdrawal, although i haven't taken it but for a couple months lately. I love it ! I won't go back to opiates, so I have no choice. Nauty.........
9704730 tn?1405741284 t even use the remeron though because neurontin makes me sleepy. I have heard neurontin can be addictive but I can say it was a miracle for the symptoms and I don't plan on taking it anymore. Just got me through the really hard days. I feel almost human again. He said tramadol is one of the most difficult opiates to withdrawal from as well as being one of the longest. I am so happy to be on the other side of it now though. I will continue working with him as long as possible.
9704730 tn?1405741284 I am finishing my 3rd day clean from 15 years of being chained to tramadol. This is the hardest thing I have ever done. How long does this pain from withdrawal last? ?? I am scared of figuring out how to live and function without this drug. I have been on it so long I don't remember how I was without it.
Avatar m tn Your right...one week really isn't a long time to take that particular med, But the mg amount might counter the short length of time?? You know what I mean? I personally find that the more we try to ease the pain of w/d, the harder it is to stay clean. But again, this is my opinion. I physically felt like **** for over 40 days....
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I'm withdrawing from Oxycodone/Percocet right now (10 mg 6-7 a day for 5 years) I'm using neurontin to help with w/d. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using this med for w/d? Like dosage, how long you took it, things like that.
Avatar m tn It gets worse and worse the longer it goes.
