Neurontin natural alternatives

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin natural alternatives

neurontin

Subsequent to this the seroquel was discontinued and mom was doing well (by her normal standards). At this point the doctor decided to switch from Lithium to Neurontin. She has been on the Nuerontin (900 mg) now for two weeks and she has been in the worst state she has ever been (very disorganized thoughts, crying, depression, lack of sleep.) When I contacted the doctor today he suggestted hospitalization.
i have found most help i have received is from naturaopaths, homepathic doctors and natural alternatives such as acupuncture, cranioscaral massage, yoga and much more. traditional medicine has helped me the least. \please reserach these alternatives-- they look at the ROOT of your pain and system and concentrate on releasing the energy trapped in these areas.
Pulsating pain non stop, I take neurontin and a pain killer hydros 10mg. But I want to get off the meds and have been told this could be a permanent or take up to 10 years. I want to know if there is a way to relieve the hypersensitivity through non narcotic meds or acupuncture or anything . I am to the point where I want to cut it off it hurts so bad.
Discuss with your doctor-if she's open to natural remedies- to help you switch from prescription medication to natural alternatives without the side effects. Or find a holistic doctor, or pm me directly for some ideas ( you should still consult with your doctor though, before considering any changes to your existing medications as you may need to be weaned off). Take care.
but this is not the road you want to be going down in you are having trouble sleeping. There are natural alternatives like Melatonin, Valerian, hot baths, relaxation techniques, etc. Again, I'm wondering why you keep asking the same question over and over. No offense intended, sweetie. How are your moods? How do you FEEL emotionally? Take care, hon.
Very embarrassing for me especially with work being so high powered right now and socially it is very awkward. I spend a lot of time worrying about it and am looking into natural support. Someone told me my adrenal system is probably out of whack from the opiates and I may need adrenal support, This adrenal over response is what triggered my auto immune illnesses so I am hoping I kind find some holistic alternatives to dealing with it.
Have you looked into natural alternatives? A number of people have found more relief seeing a naturopath or certified natural healthcare practitioner. I use a combination of natural herbs and prescription medication, but I do hope to get my fibro under better control naturally and get rid of the prescription drugs all together someday. Drugs have so many side effects. I have never tried Lyrica, although I have a prescription for it. Like I said, I am trying to relieve the pain naturally.
Be sure your medical provider is on-board before you listen to anything I say here. But for me, making friends with drugs was important. Neurontin (gabapentin) has worked best for me. The other major drug they use for nerve pain made me suicidal. I’m not kidding, the warning label even said this was a side effect for teens. I’m 54. Be careful if you take it. Start with low doses and make sure you have someone around to monitor your moods before you find yourself in too much despair.
It seems a lot of people get help from anti depressants here but i know I can't so I'm looking for some alternatives. Also I came off neurontin, a year ago horrible detox.I also tapered off benzos long slow taper, but now I take them very sparingly and not daily. So if anyone is using any tranquilizers or sleep meds like Ambien, which I also stopped 2 weeks ago and now take it on ocasion. please let me know if they help.
Also, remember we do have a pain management forum if you need to look into alternatives for pain. If we all work together we we can continue to have a wonderful and supportive place for our members . Your cooperation is appreciated.
so i take 150 mg currently, as well as 300mg of Neurontin. i've heard that Neurontin can help with withdrawal - does anyone know about that ? thank you so much for any responses. i wish everyone great health!
I know other people have asked this question, but is there anything that you guys can recommend to ease the pain? As you probably know, I use herbal alternatives, but I'm out now - and I don't know when I'm going to get some more. The last little bit really helped this morning, but it seems to have worn off. When I get home from work, I plan on wrapping it with a hot pad and blast the consequences - the pain is radiating up into my knee and inner thigh.
Talk to your doctor about your past addiction issues! Be very direct and honest. Ask for any type of alternatives! If this doctor doesn't understand or won't listen then get another one! Others will be along with some additional advice, I'm sure. In the meantime, stay on the Thomas recipe! without the Benzos. Stay very well hydrated, eat gentle foods if possible, take immodium! soak in the tub! and try to get some mild exercise.
I sure do hope this info helps some out here that are still in early recovery and experiencing some strange pain other then there original pain that they got the pills for in the first place. SO What do YOU ALL use that is Natural or OTC for pain?? OH! Yes Exercise is the Biggest Key to it ALL..
one thing to know... truly just believe and know... you do not have to live like this; there are alternatives to the medications, there is hope and there is help out there. I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, panic, bipolar and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This was about 5-6 years ago. Since then, I had been put on several medications. Every time I experienced something "new" the doctors would raise the medication.
Thanks. Although "TRY PROVIGIL" leaves me with a lot of questions... Do I try it with everything else I'm taking? I know you're not my doctor, but I'm just trying to educate myself as much as I can. I will do some research in the meantime... Are there any natural alternatives? I don;t necessarily "believe" in those, but I am concerned about taking too many meds at one time, even under dr.'s orders.
but they are scared to go to a chiropractor...which is one of the most natural medicines practiced ...
daughter born, natural delivery, 1998; uncertain of exact time pain started afterwards but do remember c/o rt hip pain to chiropractor in 2001 as he did nothing to help, not even reassess. Pain in rt hip at that time caused me to limp.
I would suggest asking the doctor for a non narcotic pain med like neurontin and see if that helps. You cannot be too careful with narcotics, it can creep up on you. If I had my time back i would have NEVER touched an opiate.
Drug interactions 4. Safer and/or natural alternatives 5. Long term implications --- Enbrel is a biologic, with immunosuppressive properties and it works as a Tumor Necrosis Factor inhibitor. It is very expensive everywhere in the world. I have come up with a substitute, a nutritional and supplementary protocol, designed to address the inflammatory damaging effects of TNF, but without the immunosuppressive effects of biologics.
Yes, every little piece of relief adds up at the end of the day. Keep the natural alternatives coming!
it's hard to know how each medication is going to react with your body chemistry. Gabapentin and Neurontin are the same med- you are correct. Neurontin is the brand name. I found Gabapentin and Lyrica to be very similar, but Lyrica is stronger at lower doses. I have tried Cymbalta as well and didn't like it. I had trouble with my GI system. I had diarrhea the whole time I was on it and I became incredibly depressed.
hydrocodone and 200mg motrin-the equivalent of one advil) If you want off of opiates all together you might try some muscle relaxants like flexeril or probably something stronger for your pain or neurontin which acts more on the nerves than the brain and spine. And please be VERY careful with xanax. If you thought withdrawal from hydrocodone was bad multiply that by about 100 and you'[ll be close. Not many are aware but xanax withdrawal is more dangerous than even herion withdrawal.
I will make sure to suggest generally safe alternatives and give warnings , best as I can, as to who should avoid certain things. So with my bit of an obsessive compulsive disclaimer,,,lol:), if anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to give some new possible ideas or suggestions you can talk to your DR or a homeopath about.

The pain center I get my meds from are pushing me on rehab, saying that percocet is not a real answer. When I ask what the alternatives are they list off psych meds, many of which have horrific long term side effects and others that Ive already tried and found useless. I dont have a good relationship with this doc but now that Ive started myself down this path I feel physically nd mentally unable to even contmplate searching out another doc.
If you are giving up without looking into ALL your alternatives and exhausting all avenues then you really are just caving into the addiction and wanting an excuse to continue using. Look how many have said they were never able to use 'as prescribed' after having been through detox and recovery for a bit? Myself included. 3X i thought I could do so. I even had friends and my own children hold them and dispurse....but I always found a way to abuse them.
There are many, many alternatives and [don't throw things at me] but I am knowledgeable about this class of drugs. They do not cause dependency and tolerance does not build up with this class of drugs. There are even alternatives if you have active peptic ulcer disease. Let me know.
