Avatar f tn In 2005 I developed what was believed to be tendonitis of my left arm, mainly focused near the wrist. I believed at the time that my violin playing was the cause, as the pain was the worst when I would practice my instrument. I stopped playing the violin, to give my tendon time to heal. I was diagnosed with the tendonitis by a specialist, who suggested physical therapy. After two months without improvement, I stopped the therapy.
Avatar f tn more important is, I am diagnosed last year that my neck bone degenerate at C5 and C6..and I am a violin player.. in the past 12 months, every time I practice my instrument I gotta rest for two days after that in order to play again without neck pain, headache and stiff muscles of my whole back. Should I gradually stop practicing my instrument? Desperate..
Avatar m tn I have had it strapped to a buddy finger for about 4 weeks now. There is still a small amount of pain, but I am very aware of how much strength I am losing in my finger. I am due to start a Masters in university playing violin in 5 weeks so need to start rehabilitation of the finger as soon as possible, but don't want to further injure the finger.
Avatar f tn But I have always been really athletic and I play violin. Until last year. Biking too much hurt my knees, and my body just collapsed. Since then I have had debilitating knee pain, wrist problems, TMJ...pretty much all my joints are messed up. No Drs know whats wrong with me. My blood tests have all turned out negative, for Lyme's, rhumatoid arthritis, etc. X-rays of my wrists and knees are perfectly normal. Over the last year the pain has been ongoing, often so I can barely walk.
1748105 tn?1314473206 I have been using forearm crutches to get around, but they are definitely causing problems and pain in my hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Because of this I have been using my wheelchair more and more. I was just wondering if anyone had any info or experience regarding this situation. I should add that I am a professional violinist, so protecting my arms is vital.
Avatar f tn I recently went to see the Chiari specialist for the second time, and I didn't get very good news... but, one of the things that I asked of him... was if he could refer me to a geneticist so I could find out if I did have EDS or not.
Avatar m tn I think you are talking about those cords which can occur if one or more lymph nodes were removed. These are scar tissue, or more specifically, fibroid lymphatic vessels. i have been asking a lot of questions and this is the best answer I have received. curiously, it appears that this never used to be a problem in the past much but is a fairly new development. The worst case my PT has ever seen was in a woman who only had one lymph node removed. I have it as well and these come and go.
Avatar f tn I had to give up playing in an orchestra because the rehearsal schedule was insane. With right chin/neck support, violin and viola is no problem for my neck...I'm more worried about instability/weakness in my middle traps and scapula. I hope the doc I see this week can clarify what is going on there and hoping there isn't permanent nerve damage. I do a little bit of over-using the wrong muscles to compensate, and to an extent, it works for me.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Also, I have done repetitive work and played competitive tennis and also violin for years. so those things may contribute to my shoulder problems. I have two ball like things. One in each shoulder. They can get sore or cause pain. The physical therapists say they are from repetitive strain. But having said that I haven't had this problem where the shoulder gets locked up until recently. So, it started when I woke up with a "rye" or stiff neck.
492898 tn?1222243598 feeling of fullness or tightness in the affected arm, aching or pain in the affected arm, swelling in the hand, or weakness in the affected arm. Protection of the affected arm is very important after breast surgery. Persons with lymphedema should avoid injury and infection and should be aware of those activities that put too much pressure on the affected arm such as injections and blood tests. Treatment for lymphedema depends on the severity and extent of the condition.
Avatar n tn ve been having nonspecific back pain and intermittent leg aches for more than a year; the legs have actually improved quite a bit (knock on wood) but still bother me from time to time. A lumbar MRI revealed a syrinx, and further MRIs will show its extent. I'm seeing my orthopedic doctor next week as well, but I feel like he's nowhere near an expert at this stuff and might not be able to answer my questions sufficiently.
1291214 tn?1277058191 So I'm 17, and I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 2 1/2 years ago. But ever since last year, I've been experiencing shooting pains in my joints, mainly in my fingers/hands, right arm, knees, and shoulders. I get pain in my back and thighs too. And ever since this year, I've been getting swelling in the fingers or my right arm, mainly the pointer and index finger.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER and was admitted for testing for heart irregularities, but everything on that score was absolutely normal -- the doctor discharged me with a diagnosis of playing too much violin (said the upper chest and jaw and head sensations were from practicing too much -- why this hadn't ever happened during the past ten years that I have played the violin never occurred to the doctor) and put me on naproxen!!!! I learned about brain zaps after googling lexapro withdrawal!!!
Avatar f tn Thanks for the boost! I found myself in the livingroom after my last post dancing with my daughter and singing. We are a musical family. My hubby plays guitar and sings at small venues, my 4 y.o. loves her guitar, my 15 y.o. plays drums, I play violin and sing, and my soon to be 19 y.o. plays guitar too. After typing that out, "By George", I'm gonna break out my violin! Havens touched it in nearly 2 yrs!!!
Avatar n tn Even so I get bouts of pain from physical activity such as lifting, even playing the violin, or even eating without the dentures in place. The pain is less severe than that associated with wearing the dentures and goes away after a couple of hours of treatment with ice and ibuprofen. It is not entirely predictable and a I have put in a day of heavy hiking without a problem.
4268628 tn?1375041176 Violin here.. I go thru the same thing.. thank god I don't do concerts or have to perform. Just relax and listen to the music. It will come naturally. Don't think too hard on it or you will mess up. Happens to me a lot. It helps if I close my eyes. But then what I play the notes are already in my head. Good luck! Pick the horn up and play.
Avatar n tn My son is 16 (17 in Jan). Over the past 3-4 weeks he has suffered from serious memory loss or he's just lying. There's only 3 people in the house: him, his mother and me (dad). I cautioned him last week about flushing the tolilet. He swore he didn't go to the bathroom. It could have only been him.
Avatar f tn They both kicks me when I play my violin.
19606750 tn?1480880764 Main motivation to fix is to make it easier for typing, and playing musical instruments (piano/guitar/violin) where I find it hampers progress in terms of agility/precision (I'm right handed, so use left hand for frets). Wondered if anyone could recommend a good way of going about this in the UK (whether NHS or private, where and how) and how long to expect heeling period to be.
Avatar f tn ve heard that somewhat soft and slower music is better, particularly harmonious, soothing music, like guitar, violin, piano, classical. Its recommended to avoid anything harsh or brash or discordant or startling. Its also strongly recommended not to use headphones or music directly against your belly as that amplifies sounds too loudly. I'd think bluegrass or country would be fine. I do a lot of classical or soft folksy stuff myself.
Avatar f tn Be tools and furniture next not certain I can provide any docs for a violin left me ....
Avatar n tn pain in neck on rt side and base of neck has large lump, sometimes my right hand goes cold like it has no circulation
1797743 tn?1389213685 Hi...just curious...anybody else have chronic neck pain? I will be fine for a few weeks and then all of the sudden the back of my neck (cervical spine region) will start to ache for several days in a row. Almost like I've strained my neck or something. It comes and goes.
