Avatar f tn My surgery is Thursday 4/2/15 for which I bought a travel neck pillow (which the ends snap together forming a circle) to allow me to lay my head on it with opened area over incision. Not the one with beads in it, but one with comfort memory foam & cooling materials that I actually found at Ross department store. Curious to see if this worked for anyone.
Avatar n tn Without medication pain level is above 10, after medication pain level is 9. My pain is so severe that it appears to lock the turning of my neck to the right. I am asking for any help regarding if there is exercises for this type of problem. My mornings after waking are the worse for me. I have been sleeping with 2 pillows under my legs, flat on my back, and 1 pillow under my head but this doesn't seem to be helping either. Is there any help for me?
Avatar m tn I may get a good down pillow as i sleep on my tummy The Support of a Good Down Pillow A good down pillow can give you the support your head and neck need when you sleep. If you suffer from chronic neck pain than a down pillow can be a good option. A down pillow also can last in excess of ten years with the proper care. There are several different types of down pillow that you have to choose from.
Avatar f tn My best pillow is the neck pillow for travel. The open space is where my neck is so I feel no pressure. The donut cradles my skull so I slept on my back. I can reverse it to sleep prone for about 20 minutes. When I sleep on my side the donut supports my forehead and jaw. I spent extra for the memory foam. Everyone is different: Nothing touches my neck if I want to sleep.
Avatar n tn After that the headaches went away for awhile then they came back even worse than before, with earaches and headaches to the point I could not sleep, I mean I could not stand to touch my head nor lay it on a pillow. the pillow had to be soft and fluffy. the only way I was able to sleep was in chair with a pillow under my chin to keep my neck from falling forward or backwards. I was miserable, could not work for about 2months.
Avatar m tn I still sleep on my side, when my neck is not killing me. What I would say is make sure you have some Tylenol or other pain reliever of your choice in the house, and just try sleeping different ways and see if it hurts or if it is something you can do. That would really be the only way to see what works for you.
Avatar f tn My neck and shoulder part ( just below the neck) hurtsa lot. Wat kind of pillow do u suggest or no pillows at all? I sometimes use a standarad rectangular pillow below my knees.
1687929 tn?1319426011 What kinda of pillows are better to support the neck? I could start with that. I have a pillow I have been using since I was 14 I can't sleep without it. Pillows at other peoples houses and at mine are lumpy and uncomfertble but I am unsure if it is even good for me.
1679858 tn?1346765181 I sleep with a cervical pillow atop a smaller memory foam pillow. I sleep with a body pillow which I can move side to side, On a heating pad to loosen my back and legs and I sleep wit my temp set at my setting you must figure that out, with a fan on me. I take Vistril 1-2 50mg as needed if I need more I'll add a unisom I also take pain meds and Musle relaxers. If its one of those nights I move to the leather recliner with my heating pad and blanket under me and my covers.
Avatar f tn When I was having really bad neck pain my mom got me a memory foam pillow (I think from Cosco). It was a lot harder than I was used to and I had to get used to sleeping with it but after a few nights my neck pain got so much better!! Now I can't live without it. However, some Chiarians didn't do well with the memory foam so you sort of have to try it out and see..but like I said, give it a few nights before you make a decision.

Avatar f tn Does anyone have any suggestions on sleep positions without neck pain.? I am dealing with cervical arthritis/damage and broad based disc osteophyte complex with moderately severe bilateral neural foraminal narrowing stenosis to C-3-4-5-6-7. Most sleep positions I've tried results in headaches upon awakening or radiating shoulder/arm pain. Aside from sleeping, has anyone had any experience with facet joint injections? or cervical injections? both done by pain management doctors?
Avatar n tn I sleep with a pillow right behind my back, a long pilloe to support my belly, a nice cool pillow between my knees, and then a nice, firm pillow to support my head and neck.
Avatar m tn I have had constant myofascial pain in my neck for 13 years. It began after repetitive stress from sports. I've sought various treatment options soon after it began, but all have only offered short-term relief. Options I have tried include: Seeing a physician who was a pain specialist. Treatment included dry needling and NSAIDs (Naproxen). Results were helpful but short-term. Seeing a physical therapist.
137307 tn?1330973997 Hey ya'll, Had my craniotomy/laminectomy (without duraplasty) last August. Well for about the last month I've started having a lot of pain in my neck when laying down. Seems I can't get in a comfortable position and have to get up a lot. I didn't have any problems laying after surgery or up until now. Anyone else have this or know why it is starting now?
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been having neck pain for almost 2 weeks, went for a check up and the pain comes and goes, more like a spasm in my neck. I was given meds (muscle relaxant) and, for the first 3 days, all I did was sleep but on my 4th day, I stopped it because I couldn't breathe, it was making me feel exhausted, like extremely exhausted and I couldn't sleep but I felt so drained. I stopped taking any meds because of the side effect.

416285 tn?1207171916 I bought a snoozer pillow and I love it! I takes the pressure off your bump and hips ... very comfy! I was on vacation last week and couldn't take it with me and really missed it! Although it was a bit strange when I first got it, I rolled off the top part that sits under your head it and ended up with a sore neck but I persevered and got used to sleeping on it and now I sleep much better.
5154898 tn?1374773319 Use a hard bed to sleep. Avoid a pillow. Roll a towel and place it under your neck while sleeping on the back and between head and shoulder when lying on the side. Initially this will be uncomfortable but with time the acupressure will work. Use an analgesic cream or spray. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants also help. Also, you must improve your posture while sitting and working. Manual therapy, neck exercises etc should all be tried as all these can help relieve pain.
Avatar f tn Hi For about 3 months my neck hurts, especially when i try to tilt my head back or down to the left. The pain radiates to my ear and up the left side of my head. I cant sleep on my right side , the pain is so intense. Should i see someone for this?
Avatar m tn Lots of other things too but the neck and shoulders are the worst. My question is how do I sleep at night so I dont wake up in pain? Is there a way to make it more comfortable or does everyone have this problem ? Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Avatar f tn Yes, I put a small pillow at my waist, a pillow between my legs, and a pillow under my neck. That was I'm all straight when I'm sleeping.
Avatar f tn s been suffering from her neck cracking, she finds this very painful she discribes it as lightning in her neck or it cracking like when you crack a stick. She also suffers from neck pain at night she only has 1 small pillow but complains that her neck hurts and thinks it's because her heads been too high. I remember having the exact same promblem starting at the same age around 8years hers started at that age too. I remember not wanting to turn my head because I was scared of the pain.
Avatar f tn It seems that my problem just gone away after I sleep with an old ancient type design pillow. This ancient type of pillow is about 6cm high x 5 cm wide and approximaly20 cm long. I sleep with this pillow in the "resuscitation" position, whereby the pillow is actually stretching my neck so that I could breathe normally. Since then my arm does not have the problem again. If your problem still precedes, you can try my experience.
Avatar f tn I have tried to sleep on my side, either side, that is the least painful way to sleep but I wake up with a horribly sore neck and shoulders. It has been this way for a week or two but at first the pain would go away quickly as I got up and moved around. I can't sleep on my back because the incision is still sore, and sleeping on my tummy requires me to turn my neck to one side and that strains it and makes it hurt. I am thinking of sleeping in the recliner, I have one in my room.
Avatar f tn I recently made a cotton neck roll to place between me and my pillow (to help support my neck) and it has helped slightly. I tried memory foam pillows but they are just to big or high for my comfort. I also have a long neck. During the day I do have some neck pain, but it's not really that bad (it used to be so bad but I fixed it with physical therapy). I also use hot and cold packs which fix my neck during the day, if needed.
Avatar m tn I used a horseshoe shape pillow ez to sleep on side or on stomach with forehead on pillow so i could still breathe in cool air. i think it helped so great right after surgery... but have used since lost pillow now i gotta find a new one i've been without for a while and sleeping on cold icey water bladder... hope that helps!!!! Please w/b or let me know if anything works i suggested!
472570 tn?1274685887 Its either to high and it puts pain in my neck or to low and its uncomfortable. Light and music set them off also. Laying on my back helps but its uncomfortable. I feel that laying on your strong side helps the migraine that's why I lay on my right side.
