Avatar n tn s kyphosis. The goals of surgery are to partially correct the deformity of the kyphosis, relieve pain, and improve your overall spinal alignment. Indications for surgery include a curve greater than 75 degrees, uncontrolled pain, and neurologic, cardiac, or pulmonary complaints. There are various types of surgical procedures available depending on the specifics of each case.
Avatar n tn In fact, today after the work done on his neck, he felt nauseous. What can I do to help his head pain? Which doctor would be the one to treat this problem? What in layman's words is the problem that brings on these headaches. The bones around his skull hurt when you touch his head. The back of his head hurts. Any hat with weight, he can't wear on his head. Over counter medicines like advil or alleve etc. do not help. His stomach hurts from taking these meds.
Avatar n tn I have weakness in my right arm always and my right leg sometimes with sharp pains. I have pain constantly in the back of my head, neck, between shoulder blades and lower back and I have some bowl symptoms that are not normal for me, I really have to strain to go. Lyrica is helping with about 50% of the pain, but not with the weakness.
516410 tn?1211556937 I am 27 years old and have recently found out that my back pain of six years is caused by spinal arthritis and kyphosis of 75 degrees and bone spurs on my spine. I go back to my doctor in two weeks and I will find out how they are going to treat this. Currently, I am receiving epidural steroid injections in my spine and have been on Opana (oxymorphone) since Feburary.
Avatar f tn A rheumatologist said she thought the elbow pain was tennis elbow. She did not address the shoulder blade pain. I think that use brings on the pain (aerobic exercise, floor and water). I am 67years old, normal weight. I have tried sleeping in different positions to no effect. Heat helps for a bit, as does ice. NSAIDs and codeine don't help. I try to stay active but the pain is intense and interfering with my routine. Is there something else I could do? Thank You!
Avatar f tn My main concern right now is pain in the left side of my neck, headache in the left side of my head and an ear ache with the headache. Two years ago I had radio frequency liesioning and the pain was gone until recently.
Avatar n tn The pain is very severe around my rib cage on any kind of movement longer than a few minutes is causing severe radicular pain and referred pain at the base of my neck. I am also told that the kyphosis is causing much of the pain and it could get worse as could the shrivelling of the cord at the injury site. I am no longer incontinent but have to manually evacuate as I have lost the anal sphcinter reflex apparently Im a single mom of one son. can anyone advise me of any way forward.
Avatar m tn I called his nurse and asked why he told me one thing when his dictation reads another, and she says he was hesitant to diagnosis this as kyphosis since the degree is only slightly above normal (47*), and there was no pain. Here are some pictures for reference: http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u433/jonbyers/image_zpsifouodom.jpeg http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u433/jonbyers/image_zpsxbtcssan.jpeg http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u433/jonbyers/image_zps0pa85krl.jpeg http://i1067.
Avatar f tn Well with not having it dxd yet it just really makes me more suspicious, I know that my scoliosis curvature is in the same area according to some xrays I have, & I've read that syrinx can cause scoliosis, so idk which came first, the chicken or the egg ya know?
Avatar n tn Several years ago, (maybe 15-16) I was diagnosed with Scheuermanns. I do have pain that comes and goes. I am wondering however if the back deformity could be part of my recent bouts with elevated blood pressure etc. Have there been any studies that confirm this and what are some potential options for correction? I understand as an adult that bracing and Chiropractic care are typically not beneficial options.
Avatar f tn Joint hypermobility syndrome, kyphosis, mid-thoracic joint dysfunction, sacral pain and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. She also said I was ½ inches shorter since 2005, and could have osteoporosis. She assessed me as 46% disabled, but did not know why? At my doctor’s appointment in March 2008, I wanted to know what was wrong with my WHOLE spine, and sacroiliac area, and WHY I have loss of function in my legs? The doctor said the stenosis was not bad enough to cause my symptoms.
Avatar f tn Straightening of the cervical lordosis is a straight neck which is also called military neck or cervical kyphosis. If this curvature loss is significant you may experience neck pain/stiffness, shoulder pain and headaches. A traction neck pillow can help with neck pain. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is not really a disease but this term is used to describe the changes in your spinal discs as you age. The symptoms of DDD vary from person to person and there may be no symptoms at all.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure where to start with this. But I'm posting my question the best I can, while I'm still sort of with it. Yesterday, I was at the er for horrible headaches that's been constant for a week, and horrible neck pain. I went to my local urgent care, and the doc told my fiance' (I wasn't with it at all, so he told me she talked to him. My memory of yesterday and the past week is spotty at best.
Avatar n tn Ok, I assume the kyphosis of the thoracic spine is serious, since my Neurosurgeon is talking about both an anterior and a posterior surgery to deal with it. I'm scared to death about both the surgeries and the required rehab. I need some guidance here... I'm most interested in reacquiring bodily functions. I want to correct my wandering eye, and the fatigue caused by walking 40 feet. I can deal with the pain, but I need to be more functional.
Avatar m tn Thanks! Q1 Can you pl throw light on the time factor connected to knuckle cracking in corpses? [Particularly after 5 hrs, 12 hrs and a day] Q2 Whether the answer is same for all types of kyphosis [Scheuermann's kyphosis as well as kyphosis due to acquired conditions (such as compression fractures) Q3 Will corpses sweat [ sweat continuously ?
Avatar m tn First, I believed it was a shoulder injury, but now believe it is a neck injury. Initially I had a lot of burning pain around my shoulder with some sharp pains as well. I also had tightness in the muscle from the top of my shoulder up the side of my neck. Shortly after that I got a pain, like muscles straining going across my chest with sharp or stabbing pains in my armpit.
Avatar f tn So I'm a 15-year-old girl and I've had nearly consistent lower back pain for over a year now.... Lately, it's been worse than ever, and because of it my posture is now really terrible. I'm in an orchestra, and whenever we perform, I have to take painkillers in order to sit up straight... it's really getting more troublesome all the time. It's mainly in the lower back, though sometimes it hurts right below my shoulder blades, too.
Avatar m tn Anyways, 3 years ago I went to a rheumatologist and he x-ray diagnosed me with a mild scoliosis and kyphosis and prescribed me a couple of strength exercises and stretches, which helped my kyphosis but not my scoliosis I think. The pain is slowly getting worse over time. I cannot remain static in ANY position without pain around my T6 and T5, but especially positions that put a lot of load on my back, sitting for example. I like to sit with good posture now, but the pain, is still there.
890264 tn?1277065400 I have Kyphosis myself but mine is not 80 degrees, I've never seen Kyphosis that bad before. I would mention to your doctor about how much pain the brace is causing and see if there is something he/she can do to help relieve the pain.
9697896 tn?1405357104 I had a cervical MRI done 2 years ago which indicated that I had "subtle kyphosis". This week, I had a repeat of the MRI and this time the report only mentions "straightening of the normal cervical lordosis". Does this mean that the kyphosis resolved itself, or it is just a difference in the report authors and which terms they use? Also, for what its worth, both reports note muscle spasms...which have apparently been ongoing for the last 2 years.
