Common Questions and Answers about Neck pain guitar

neck

Avatar m tn but it is pressure i'm putting into the neck of my guitar, not my actual bodily neck. but thank you i will ask my doctor about that possibility.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure pinched nerves are caused by guitar playing. I've also been playing guitar for about that long, but I have no pinched nerves from it. I am, however, wracked with pain from other things, and if you do have pinched nerves it's likely the posture we assume when we play the guitar, with too much neck bending.
Avatar m tn When I've played my guitar for a while, my arm and hand become temporary paralyzed. My fingers on my left hand retract into a claw position and pain radiates in the center of my arm. I can't move my hand, fingers, or arm for a few minutes. This has been happening frequently for the last 2-3 years. I've played guitar most of my life so I'm a bit baffled as to why this is occurring. Anyone know what this is?
Avatar n tn The bumps are also on my picking hand, which does not come in contact with the strings or the guitar, but there are not as many bumps on that hand as the other that does touch the neck of the guitar. Thank you for recommending the cream, I will look into it, however wearing gloves while playing is out of the question as I need to maintain the dexterity in my hand needed to play.

Avatar f tn So about 3 mo ago I had unprotected sex with a dude and I now have a boyfriend who is not that person . As of late I've noticed changes in my body . I broke out into a rash it first started as one circular rough itchy patch of skin then like a week or so later I fully broke out into a bunch of smaller itchy patches and bumps (none on face or hands) I've been having abdominal pain and slightly swollen nodes in my neck .
Avatar n tn I've had neck, upper back, and mild lumbar pain for 8 months now coupled with leg issues for more than a year. I finally got a lumbar MRI done and it showed a syrinx whose full extent is unknown -- I need to get MRIs done of my thoracic and cervical vertebrae this week. In the meantime, if this is what's causing my symptoms, I need to know how to keep it from getting worse. I play bass in two bands and guitar in a third.
Avatar f tn ve had the worse anxiety ever this past week and have posted on this forum a few times. (wanted to jump out a window yesterday) Played Guitar Hero for about an hour in the morning and I must say it helped the symptoms some...couldn't focus on the chest pain as much while trying to beat my husband at this stupid game! I AM going to make an appt with my dr. for sometime this week hopefully to discuss this severe increase in anxiety.
519035 tn?1348275773 D,400 mag and Vitamin B Complex and have noticed a big improvement, I still get an ache in the r-side of my neck and a little knot in the calf of my leg once in a while, but it has improved. Maybe we get Carp Tunnel from using the keyboard!
Avatar f tn Am suffering from chronic shoulder and neck pain a feeling light dizziness but when this happen it is not dizziness or shaking or unbalance I see the street going up and down in small wave, maybe staring in day light maybe something else behind , please share your opinions or experiences with such strange feeling
Avatar m tn I have been having wrist pain for a few months. It all started when one day I played the piano and guitar for several hours. The following morning my wrist hurt and were going numb. I had no swelling. I waited a couple days, then when I thought I was ok I lifted some weights. I realized it wasn't better. School made it impossible for my wrists to recover. I tried playing the piano a week later, but they still hurt. For months I've been trying to let them recover, but they won't.
Avatar m tn I started to notice when I straighten my right elbow, fingers out, and twist so the palm is up, I feel pretty bad pain in the inside (thumb side) of the wrist. (the same pain happens when I just pinch the thumb and fingers and straighten) I also noticed if i massage the base of my bicep near the elbow, I can send a shooting feeling up to that same pain location. I had no numbness in any of my fingers, but the pain was getting worse, so I took it to an orthopedic specialist.
Avatar m tn burning pain is nerve pain so there is something there poping maybe trigger fingers pinky side might be cubital tunnell which can cause pain in protionsof the thumb also get a second appion
Avatar m tn However, I am unable to comfortably use a guitar pick when playing guitar. What is going on? Should I see a medical doctor?
Avatar m tn It feels like a taught metal cord has been snapped, like a thick base guitar string but the sound does not linger. Its a metallic sound and I can almost feel it when it happens. I never suffered any trauma to by head or ears. I have seen my GP, neurosurgeon, ENT and there appears to be no structural damage. No brain tumor. Nothing that shows up on imaging. I always forget to ask the neuro and plan on doing so next wee.
518031 tn?1295575374 I'm not a lead guitar fan and can't stand guitar solos or jam sessions...I love the bass and rhythm guitar the best....so my vote is for Paul McCartney for bass.....
Avatar m tn It worsens with wrist extension all the time and with turning doorknobs, when I apply pressure to that region or when I play guitar too much. This pain is present all the time. In the x-ray of my wrist the doctor did not find anything and he said pain would go away on its own but still it's getting worse each day. Some time my ring and little finger get tingly while sleeping but not in a severe way. I am just worried about what has happened to my wrist.
738075 tn?1330575844 I played between sets last Saturday night after practicing my 3 songs during the day a couple of times.Well, I played like s#!t! My fingers just weren't keeping up with my brain, and I was making just one R hand mistake after another. Spastic, fatigued, numbed. I learned when I was a little kid to keep the tempo the same, even through mistakes, and many people won't even notice. But _I_ noticed! I hate this feeling of loosing my guitar ability.
Avatar f tn This evening a relative used my guitar right before me. My guitar strings press extremely hard into the skin and I think I may have some tiny cuts on my fingers(still hurt hours later) and I suspect that my relative may have done the same. If he has HIV wouldn't this warrant Post exposure prophylaxis?
Avatar n tn Hey, Having some problems with my hand that are starting to worry me a bit. I've messed my left hand up a bit, walking around on crutches for too long, I can't straighten my fingers or move them side to side at all, there isn't a great deal of pain but I'm starting to worry because it's been about 3 days with little improvement, it's really important to me because I can't play guitar at all at the moment.
Avatar f tn I am not sure about the guitar playing as it would cause some pull on the shoulder and neck muscles...mayb just the way I play, but be aware of how u hold urself while doing ur activities. My eyes r going crazy lately, and I had this issue post op and listened to audio books...back to the eyes, the weather does have a lot to do with mine I am sure...so see if the weather is playing a factor for u too. And blacking out??? Um, did u tell ur Drs? Sounds like POTS...
