Neck lift surgery incisions

Common Questions and Answers about Neck lift surgery incisions

neck

Avatar n tn Due to the usual reasons for sagging skin - aging, chronic dieting and genetics, I am considering a buttocks lift. I am worried that I may be bringing unforeseen medical/health problems into this relatively late stage of my life from what seems a pretty radical surgery which also leaves inch wide scars that run along the backside. How much pain and suffering is there? How long does it take to recover and resume a physically active life - vigorous daily exercise, jogging, sports, dancing, etc.
Avatar m tn My Surgeon was very reassuring and explained the entire procedure to me, said the most common side effect was pain in the shoulder from using gas to make room to perform the surgery. So, I went to surgery woke up in recovery and they pump your stomach with gas to make room then a 1 inch incision is made about three inches above the belly button and a few small incisions on the right side to put surgical tools in....
Avatar n tn Two years ago I had a lower face lift and since then I have had pain in my neck under my chin, between the surgical incisions in front of and behind both ears. The pain is more sever when I get hot and my neck feels like it is burning up. When I touch the skin, it feels fingers are cutting the skin. My surgeon said he had never had anyone have this problem before.... that was not very comforting. He put me on neurontin and recently gave me a cream of benzecaine, lidocaine, and tetracaine.
Avatar n tn I had a lower face and neck lift 3 weeks ago. Under my chin is very 'tight' and 'hard', and a little 'dimpply'. My PS told me that this is scar tissue, and that I should massage it, it will go away in time. Any suggestions as to anything else to do? What is the 'average' healing time for these types of 'scar tissue' in a healthy 55 year old. I am very happy with my results, except for my under my chin, and it concerns me!
1035252 tn?1427227833 s has pulled my back and neck out of alignment (for example, every time I sneeze I pop all the vertebrae in my neck and it freaks me out), so this surgery is going to be an awesome start for me, and a boost to my self-image...but I'm worried about the recovery time!
Avatar m tn If you want perkiness a lift, whether the incisions will be concentric, lollipop or inverted T is for you to discuss AT LENGTH with a plastic surgeon. I received an inverted T, which I am not at all happy with because the P.S. that did my breasts did not specify that during my consultation. I agreed to the incision around the areolas and we discussed the vertical incison and that's all. I'm an A almost B cup so there was really no need for the added incision.
1272785 tn?1270775211 If they are doing the surgery laproscopically then you should give yourself about 2 weeks recovery time. You will have 3 small incisions and you should be able to go home the same day. If you are having a laprotomy (open surgery) you should count on being in the hospital 2-5 days and a recovery time of about 6-8 weeks. You will be pretty sore and may have some bad gas pains, but this is normal. The best thing for the gas pains is walking.
Avatar n tn I had a partial face lift and neck lift 2 years ago. I still feel extreme tension/tightness at the sides of my neck, near my cervical nodes. I cannot palpate any node enlargement. I am also experiencing increasing parasthesia of my lips to the point of difficulty enunciating words. I have no lip drooping, but I experience some saliva drooling while speaking. My surgeon merely suggests more surgery.

Avatar n tn What is the "typical" recovery time for a IOL implant cataract surgery to stabilize. That is, how long after cataract surgery should one expect the vision to stabilize.
Avatar n tn Did you have laparoscopic surgery or a laparotomy? I'm not sure if the date of your surgery is Sept. 10 or Oct. 9. I had a laparotomy and could not lift anything over 10 lbs. for 8 weeks and I was to avoid vacuuming and sweeping. My doctor did not allow me to drive for 4 weeks. I was able to cook and do dishes after two weeks. Ironing shouldn't be a problem.
Avatar m tn Yes, I believe it is normal- here's a little info on it: "During surgery, small incisions are made in the abdomen. A harmless gas is then used to lift the abdominal wall away from the internal organs. The laparscope is inserted to view the inside of the abdomen. Surgical instruments are inserted to remove the gallbladder. Small clips close off the bile duct and blood vessels to prevent bleeding and bile leaks. The gallbladder is then detached from the liver.
637613 tn?1281039564 I am just wondering if anyone knows how it works to remove the uterus vaginally. Do they make incisions or use laser or other tools. I know there will be stitching inside but not really sure if they make external incisions. I do have this on my list of questions for the dr but that won't be until the 23rd. Just wondering if any of you may know. Thanks...

568174 tn?1217557505 Hi I had recently had surgery or a broken disc in my neck and 3 other compressed discs that were all laying on nerves. My surgery was about a little over a week ago and I still don't have feeling in one of my fingers and the doctor told me that if I didn't come back within a week it probably won't, is this true?
1386655 tn?1452097056 I just found out that I am scheduled for Laparotomy surgery 12/1. I thought it was going to be done laprascopically which I was fine with. Now that its not I'm a nervous wreck about the whole thing. I'm worried about the surgery, the pain, the incision, pretty much everything. Has anyone had this out there? Please tell me what to expect!
Avatar f tn I had neck lift surgery in April of 2012. Ever since the back of the right side of my head feels like I have a metal plate that has been placed inside. My right side of head feels numb but at the same time I am in so much pain. Part of the pain goes deep into the center of the back of my head. The other part of the pain is at the lower part of the back of my head right at my neck. I get very little sleep due to not being able to lay on my back and having to sleep on my left side.
Avatar f tn Overall recovery has gone well, had no problems urinating, sore throat and gas pains are already gone, incisions barely hurt. But, through my neck, jawline, shoulders and upper chest and back, the skin is tender to the touch as if it is bruised (it isn't). Is this normal after surgery? Could it be a side effect of the pain medicines?
Avatar f tn My surgery went well. Now I am at home recovering. I had to stop narcotics because they made me vomit. But the pain management with OTC drugs is going better than I expected, but I am still frequently nauseas. I don't really have much of an appetite. When I sit to eat something I just can't eat it. Jello and soup are what I ma living on now. The Zofran doesn't seem to help with the nausea though, I think it might make it worse. Can't wait for this to be over.
Avatar f tn Had ovaries removed last Fri. Had history with cysts but this time surgery was recommended because one cyst was at least 4cm (still waiting pathology outcome). After surgery told cyst was larger than ultrasound shown, larger incision was needed on that side. Other incisions don't bother me but the larger incision is OMG pain & beyond! Today is my first day trying to go without percoset.
Avatar n tn I had a face & neck lift 3.5 years ago and I am still experiencing swollen jaw area & tingling sensations in my cheek areas. Sometimes I feel like I am going to choke the chin/neck area is so tight. I exercise, massage, hot/cold compress, etc but nothing is relieving the swollen areas. Any ideas?

Avatar f tn I just had day surgery Monday, Mar 22 and am not allowed to excercise or do any physical activity other than only the necessary walking. Also, not allowed to lift anything more than 10 lbs. I am a runner and active gym goer and I am already stir crazy. I do not have any incisions as it was just a plug procedure, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do for excercise. I thought about swimming, but I can't move my lower body too much. Would that be ok?

Avatar n tn Yes I did have open heart surgery. They took veins out of each leg..24 inch incisions on each leg. I am doing well, but have to go back for more test, the doctor thinks I have blocked arteries in my neck. I am coronary artery disease (inherited from my dad and my mom). My main problem is having rheumatoid arthritis, I need gall bladder surgery now and the doctors says no surgery (unless life or death situation) before next year..2010.
Avatar f tn I had a chin implant and neck lift 3 weeks ago. The day after surgery, I went in to have the drain removed. When the PS took off the dressing, the drain was not there. He searched in the trash can and had his nurses looking for it. In about 2 more days, I developed a seroma. It was drained 3 times. Now I have a horrible lump across my neck which I'm assuming is scar tissue from the seroma.
