179856 tn?1333547362 Oh phew. Thanks for adding that info, Bill. I'm far from being on treatment let alone on procrit but considering the implications for those that are, was finding this quite alarming. Thanks to both nygirl and Bill for posting.
Avatar f tn I have been taking it everyday. It just makes it easier and more comfortable to go. You won't be running to the bathroom all the time. Just make sure you drink a lot with it. And don't try too hard to go or those hemorrhoids will show up. If you feel your bottom getting sore, get some Tucks pads at the drug store. They are soothing for a raw bottom and hemorrhoids...plus they are good for after baby comes too. Good luck!
Avatar n tn As long as you use opiates or synthetic opiates you will fight constipation, plane and simple. Me too. Like Vicki said "Miralax" is what I use. Walmarts got a copy, don't recall the name. You have probably already tried to notice which foods stop you up. If your intestines are alright, then it's a fiber thing. And of course water. I've had part of my gut's removed and fight it every single day.
11079760 tn?1483386130 I know we've addressed this in a recent thread, but I just have to share that I just forgot my house address. I've lived here for almost 10 years, and I suddenly couldn't remember my house numbers. I went back & forth between 2 digits - one is right and one is not. Can this just be because I'm highly distracted with other issues (read: STRESSED) right now? I hate that these things are happening more & more frequently.
Avatar m tn I was given iron supplements as a baby, grew up and have experienced constipation off and on as long as I can recall. I am 30 years old now, have taken Miralax on a daily basis for over a year (a friend of mine who was a nurse said it was safe as it does not alter your colon, only draws in water), and have no problems defecating.
408448 tn?1286883821 I have been having okay results since June with Miralax and Colace. A few weeks ago I began having what looks to be blood in the stool. I told my onc right away. She said do not worry. It is probably from a blood vessel bursting. Well, I tried not to worry, but it did not work! Could the Miralax be the trouble?
Avatar f tn A lady I have chemo with (also on topo), mixes the Miralax in warm prune juice and says it works great. You can also take stool softeners with the Miralax. Hopefully, the chemo will take care of the tumors on/by your Mom's colon. IF your Mom goes on iron, there is a new pill "HEMAX" (an Rx) that is a combo of Vitamin C, Iron, and stool softener. You need to take iron with Vitamin C for good absorption. Good luck .. don't know anything about Gemzar ..

Avatar n tn I have IBS and GERD. If I drink water fast and gulp a lot of air or I drink soda pop, I burp a lot. Those are the main times for me.

Avatar f tn I had the same problem. My doc also prescribed miralax. Im already swamped with other meds, so I decided to go natural to reduce the constipation. Try eating brown (wheat) instead of white and lots of green veggies (greens, spinach). It has done wonders for me.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to take miralax and to increase my water intake.
Avatar f tn The beginning of my pregnancy my OB said I could take miralax to help with constipation, but now that I am 37w4d is it safe to take? I don't want to take it if it's going to affect baby in any way.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had miralax?
Avatar f tn I am 10wks preggo and was wondering if Miralax is safe to take for constipation during pregnancy....I am very constipated and have been drinking Metamucil 2 times a day without any effectiveness....my husband is a pharmacist and says that it is safe because it doesn't enter the bloodstream, but I do not want to take something unless I know that it is safe. I have seen where it is category c. Thanks for your help....

Avatar n tn I am desperately trying to find someone that has had the ReSTOR multi-focal lens removed! My life since October 13, 2012 has been miserable due to these lens! I found a 2015 FDA recall report on ALCON Laboratories manufacture of the ReSTOR lens with my model number as one of the recalls! They are claiming the recall on ReSTOR IOL multi-focal lens applied to Japan shipment, I do not believe it is only Japan, my model number was on the list!
Avatar f tn I can FINALLY put partial weight on my leg and have to use the walker - of course - BUT it sure beats having to hop like I did for 6 weeks just to be able to go to the bathroom OR get to the wheelchair!! :) I'm having to remember to keep my left foot straight as it tends to want to point to the left right now. LOL Your welcome for the additional information.
Girl But ever since the hospital I have been taking the Miralax on a regular basis, and although i stlll have some pain, i think it would be a lot worse if I did not take the Miralax each day. I would stick with it for now and give it a few days as the Dr adviced, good luck and feel better.

Avatar f tn Take miralax whenever you want to. It doesn't really force a bm it just makes it easier. Takes 6-12 hours to kind of kick in. Sometimes have to take it a couple days in a row to work. ... Add lots of fresh fruits and veggies to diet and drink pleeeenty of water. Activists also is great every day. And moving a lot (walk a lot.
Avatar f tn This time it was 3 weeks with nothing coming out so i took miralax for a couple days and then had a lot of diarreha so i stopped the miralax and 2 days layer every morning i wld go to the bathroom but it wld be long very thin or flat ribbon like. I still feel bloated and uncomfortable. Im so scared about the ribbon stool because everything online says cancer or blockage. Im a 38 yr old female. Also i started the miralax again last night but havent went to the bathroom yet.
Avatar m tn As I recall, the solution was also pretty expensive, whereas you can buy a bottle of Miralax and some Crystal light packets for about $10 - $15. The drawback with the Miralax solution is that you have to drink an entire gallon of it (1/2 gallon - 1 - 8 oz glass every 20 minutes, then later, the other 1/2 gallon at the same 20 minute intervals). This, in addition to lots of water or other clear liquids as instructed by your doctor.
Avatar f tn he told me that I could use miralax and gatorade and it would be fine..I mean really I got the bathroom anywhere from 2 to 7 times a day, the prep is all I need to push me over the top...so I am hoping that I will be able to tolerate the prep and the colonoscopy will go fine. A couple of other things, I do take things over the counter to attempt to slow down this condition..
Avatar m tn Miralax helps some. There is some diarrhea but not a lot so something can get by but very little. I wasn't able to get a colonoscopy or barium enema as a result. On December 28th I went into the ER because I had balooned up overnight and had a bulge coming out my right side above the waist. They took an xray and said i was full of poop and I should go home and take Miralax. So this is where I am today. I have an appointment on Wednesday to see the GI DR again to see where we go from here.
