I was with a potential sexual partner and panicked. I discovered a bottle of Minocycline 100 MG tablets. I took two pills Saturday and Sunday, one on Monday and Tuesday. The symptoms discharge and painful urination are gone. I am now back in the city with access to health facilities. Should I go and be tested ? Should I continue the Minocycline ? I have a( 25) 100 MG left. HELP. I am really nervous.
I have been on Minocycline for acne for well over a year. Usually I take 50mg twice a day, although for the last month have been on 75mg twice a day. If by some freak chance I had rectally contracted Gonorrhea or Chlamydia, would this antibiotic take care of it?
Hi - Minocycline may give you a false negative on an STD test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. (Any antibiotic would.)
Depending on the dose, it may cure gonorrhea, though there is some resistance to it now with certain strains of gonorrhea. It MAY prevent you from getting it, but the studies done that showed it would are quite old, and were done before resistance.
All that said, oral sex is lower risk, even for men who have sex with men.

I have been super anxious and have been checking my penis for other potential signs of std multiple times a day, every day. The only potential thing I’ve notices is that while “pulling apart” my urethra to look inside there seems to be a “patch” of the inner skin that is a slightly lighter color. But I don’t know if that is from the previous infection or if it’s really anything. It may have been there before and I didn’t notice. There are no other signs on the skin.
Has anyone ever successfully used antibiotics (minocycline, etc.) for Psoriatic Arthritis? Please share.
I went to the dermatologist and he gave me pills for my face Solodine 80 MG which is Minocycline. The irritation got better with the Solodine but I still have irritation.

if you finally get a positive, the FDA just approve Lefamulin, which has high activity against MG in vitro. If you’ve failed Moxifloxacin, I’d push for a minocycline/Lefamulin combo. It seriously is the only bit of hope that has come along in many years.
I know this is bad, but I self prescribed some meds - my kid had it for acne. Solodyn = Minocycline. Been taking it about 3 days. Will that help. Internet said it was good for UTI and clamidia.
So they are unrelated. Secondly minocycline is an antibiotic used for bacterial infection and not viral ones. Hence if you had improvement after minocycyline then possibility is that it is bacterial. To confirm the diagnosis, it is better to get a culture sensitivity of the bumps and to rule out any fungal infection, get a KOH examination of the skin scrapings of the bumps done. This will confirm the diagnosis and specific treatment can be planned.

the past couple weeks ive noticed sometimes my penis head and shaft would get red splotches and these splotches would turn brown over time leaving a spot. it was not concerning at first but it seems like there are more and more of these splotches now.

2-3 weeks after, although my symptoms were mild and there was no discharge, I went to get checked for STDs. Had to force my doc to test me for at least chlamydia. Tested "weak positive" for chlamydia on urine test. He put me 3 days 1g Zythromax. A week later my symptoms were still not 100% gone, and went back. Doc looked at my urine, said no white blood cells in urine, but decided to put me on 2 weeks of Minocycline 50mg twice daily.

I took minocycline with rifampin for my Bart's. I had no problems with it.

he said since i been taking minocycline 100 mg daily for 2 years and using the retin a micro 0.1% for 2 years and im still breaking out i should try something new like it may be wearing off....he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.
I went in for bumps around my mouth and genitals that I thought were herpes, but were confirmed to not be by a doctor, dermatologist, and at a std clinic. They tested for everything because it was at a Planned Parenthood. The testing came back yesterday and I was positive for urine Gonorrhea, negative for oral, rectal, and HIV. Shypillis was still pending.
Last Saturday 24 hours after I was injected with antibiotics and taken large pills I had protected vaginal sex, and she performed brief oral sex on me with no ejaculation with same partner who is still on Minocycline. This was stupid but I thought I was clear with Minocycline.
