Avatar m tn There is a serious split in the medical community about how serious Lyme is or is not, and having had Lyme myself (and also another family member had it), I can tell you for certain that Lyme is a real infection -- and one that can be treated and eradicated -- but first an accurate diagnosis needs to be done.
Avatar n tn after he asked about meds, and I said I was on long term MINOCYCLINE for acne. He said it was rare, but notorious for causing exactly what I had happen to me. I was stunned....this wasn't just 'dizziness' ...it was incapacitating!! He said he had seen it before, and that once it has happened, (even though you stop the mediction) you could have occasional 'flashbacks' so to speak, occur for a long time ,or not at all.
494623 tn?1278279352 I have a Friend in Canada who has been on Minocycline for her RA for years and says she could not function without it,I asked my Doctor to prescribe this for me but he says it's not proven to be effective so wouldn't give me it !!! I have read that it IS effective not as a cure but by killing the bacteria that may be causing the RA symptoms. I am totally convinced it was the MRSA infection that caused my RA in the first place as I was absolutely fine before that happened ....
Avatar m tn Hi, im peter i have bacterial infection in my mouth, i used MINOCYCLINE 100mg for past 2 day but yet not cured. i got it from online shop International Drug Mart This discussion is related to minocycline.
Avatar f tn I have been on Minocycline for acne for well over a year. Usually I take 50mg twice a day, although for the last month have been on 75mg twice a day. If by some freak chance I had rectally contracted Gonorrhea or Chlamydia, would this antibiotic take care of it?
Avatar m tn Minocycline is an intracellular abx and is used in combination with another type of abx when given for Lyme. It can help with Bartonella, too, as Bart is also an intracellular infection. I considered taking it, but my PA warned me that it often causes dizzyness, especially in women, so I haven't tried it yet. Wouldn't be surprised if I do at some point. I seem to have tried most everything at one point or another.
Avatar m tn I was treated first for babesia, and then for Lyme, using different medications for each infection. Length of treatment is usually measured in months, not weeks or days, due to the slow reproductive cycle of the Lyme bacteria, which are most susceptible to antibiotics when the bacteria themselves are reproducing and the cell wall is breached. Burrascano's Guidelines can give information on that point and others.
Avatar n tn The testing came back yesterday and I was positive for urine Gonorrhea, negative for oral, rectal, and HIV. Shypillis was still pending. Last Saturday 24 hours after I was injected with antibiotics and taken large pills I had protected vaginal sex, and she performed brief oral sex on me with no ejaculation with same partner who is still on Minocycline. This was stupid but I thought I was clear with Minocycline.
Avatar f tn I am not aware of any information that suggests that minocycline, or for that matter, any other antibiotic acts to either increase risk for HIV acquisition or would modify the performance of tests for HIV. Current tests for HIV look for antibodies. Antibody production in response to infection is not changed by antibiotics, menses or any of the other factors. The results of HIV antibody tests are to be believe.
Avatar n tn Is a tetrocycline antibiotic such as minocycline adequate for treating a staph infection or would some other antibiotic be needed. Also just to be clear are you suggesting the crease may be there now as a result of the staph infection or just the blepharitis.
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever successfully used antibiotics (minocycline, etc.) for Psoriatic Arthritis? Please share.
Avatar f tn Is there a better oral antibiotic (than minocycline) for trteating staphaureas? Should I accept this discoloration?
Avatar m tn It is now January 18th and I am now seeing symptoms of sore throat, oral thrush, diarrhea, on and off fever and swollen neck lymph nodes. I am scheduled for another test on the 21st of January. How likely is it that I now have HIV, and I somehow took longer than the three months for my antibodies to appear? Please answer quickly. I am very scared.
Avatar m tn So they are unrelated. Secondly minocycline is an antibiotic used for bacterial infection and not viral ones. Hence if you had improvement after minocycyline then possibility is that it is bacterial. To confirm the diagnosis, it is better to get a culture sensitivity of the bumps and to rule out any fungal infection, get a KOH examination of the skin scrapings of the bumps done. This will confirm the diagnosis and specific treatment can be planned.
Avatar n tn 2-3 weeks after, although my symptoms were mild and there was no discharge, I went to get checked for STDs. Had to force my doc to test me for at least chlamydia. Tested "weak positive" for chlamydia on urine test. He put me 3 days 1g Zythromax. A week later my symptoms were still not 100% gone, and went back. Doc looked at my urine, said no white blood cells in urine, but decided to put me on 2 weeks of Minocycline 50mg twice daily.
Avatar n tn i wish i knew what was causing it. i have taken minocycline in the past for about 1 year....for acne....five days after stopping taking it....i began feeling very floaty and very out of it. and here i am today..still having boughts....and i don't every want to take minocycline again.
Avatar f tn Minocycline is one of the listed drugs that cause vitamin B12 malabsorption. Minocycline also has anti-thyroid effects. Long term treatment with minocycline (at least 100 mg/day) can cause hyperpigmentation of the skin, nails, bones, thyroid, teeth, palate, eye, heart valves. Thyroid cancer is frequently found with black thyroid syndrome (macroscopic black discolouration of the thyroid gland).
Avatar n tn In the mean time i went to the dentist for pain with #30, and she said that i have an old infection there and i shouldnt feel any pain because there isnt a root. Would tooth #30 have a correlation to the health of my skin?
Avatar f tn It's great news that you are doing well on your treatment! I don't recall anyone posting here about minocycline, but then my memory's not what it used to be, ha. Also not familiar with the Sunnybrook test -- Sorry not to be more useful! Hope you continue to improve. PS If you're up for some heavy reading, you might try the ilads [dot] org website, the 'about lyme' tab, and read Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.
Avatar f tn My dog was just diagnosed by our vet with atopic dermatitis as she has scabs on her ears and around one eye (scrape for mites was negative). She got an injection of vetlog and ampicillin and prescribed oral clavamox and chloropheniramine. I also bought her a soft E collar to keep her from scratching. A week later she is worse! Her ears are now weeping and very sore (she yelps to touch) and today she can't even shake her head or walk (I think from loss of balance).
Avatar n tn Nutrition Smart, and asked them what I could do for my dogs ear infection. I think my dog has allergies and his ears hurt...but his ears are fairly clean all of the time. There was a lady customer who heard me asking the clerk about ear infections. So in lieu of hearing me,, she said I use Oregano oil for my ear infections...so she explained how to use it. Let me say that this works! Take a coffee mug.. mix 50% / 50% of oregano oil and olive oil.
Avatar m tn Ive had an ear infection for 4 weeks now. 3 Weeks ago I went to the doctors and she wouldn't give me anything for it. Been really painful this weekend and felt sick and a bit dizzy because of it. What should I do? How long can I expect to have it with not taking anything for it?
416656 tn?1202829314 I BROUGHT HER TO THE VET AND HE NOTICE SHE HAD A HOLE IN HER RIGHT EAR DRUM. HE DRAINED THE INFECTION OUT OF HER EAR AND PUT MED IN HER EAR, AND MEDS FOR ME TAKE HOME TO GIVE HER BY MOUTH.
