Thank you so much for posting y'all. I just got on Minocycline about a week ago and I feel like I've gone crazy and when I went to my doctor he acted like I needed to go to the loony bin or something. Been having the same exact symptoms...depression/suicidal thoughts, anxiety, panic, etc. I've just been laying around the house for 5 days now and that's all I wanna do because I'm scared to go anywhere and enjoy life.
I have been on Zoloft for about 7 months now, after dealing with crippling anxiety and depression. this medicine really worked wonders! recently I was put on Minocycline for my chronic forehead and shoulder acne, and I was all for the idea of clear skin, whether I had to take pills or not. ever since, slowly but surely, my anxiety is making a reappearance, along with my depression, both of which I thought were long gone.
t find any info on a google search. Has anyone else experienced depression or anxiety changes after starting Minocycline? I have discontinued the med for now.
I want to persue treatment with the new drugs but am not happy with the doctor I saw today. I currently have some bouts of depression and terrible insomnia. I am treated for my insomnia/anxiety with Temazepam 15mg and Trazodone 50mg. I also take Minocycline 100 mg once daily. The doc I saw today said I could not take ANY of those meds for him to treat me. I made a phonecall to Incivic/Teleprevir today and they say the only one I cant take is the Trazodone due to drug interactions.
I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
t really understand what the connection was, but I wanted to know if I could trust my HIV test results even though I am on Minocycline, and was for months before, during, and after my HIV test.
Also, just to ease my mind, is there ANYTHING else that could effect the validity of an HIV test (aspirin, menstrual cycle, diet, anything)?

I know you said this thread is ended but could you please take a look at this and tell me what you think of it and could this data indicate that minocycline could indeed slow down replication making it possible for delayed seroconversion, which would make my test at the 5 month mark inaccurate.

This is where all of my anxiety has came from.
The test was a rapid antibody test. Can someone please weigh in and tell me could minocycline possibly be used as a PEP drug for HIV? And if so, should I be worried about my status? Should I test again?
I'm worried because I read on the web minocycline is an investigatory drug for HIV that has been shown to reduce replication of the virus.

3% not as strong as the retin a mico 0.1% i was on and minocycline 100 mg daily to 40 mg a day oracea for only redness and not pimples would help ?seems like it would make it worse..please explain...
So quick background:
Ever since I sucked on my lips while concentrating last August I've had problems. For months it was just little zit looking things on my lipline with redness and flakes, only one to three at a time. After unsuccessful visits to urgent care, a 10 day cycle of anti biotics that didn't work, I was somewhat able to manage it.
Then one Saturday morning I got sunburnt on my face. The next day the bumps were back.
My doctor prescribed me minocycline and I started taking it for about four days and then found out I was pregnant. I have stopped taking it since, but now I've read some of the birth defects that it causes and I'm really scared. I'm only about 5 weeks and was just wondering if someone could give some more in depth info on the possibilities of something happening to my baby. I was taking 100mg twice a day.
Since then, I have had loose yellow bowel movements, chronic pain in my abdomen, shoulders, knees, feet and hands. Cymbalta helped but caused constipation. With that being said and the research I have done, my question is:
Is it possible that I have fibromyalgia? and Is fibromyaligia caused by a mental disorder such as anxiety or depression?
I started at 5mg for teh first week and just went up to 10 3 days ago. Yesterday I started feeling spacey and out of it. I panicked and started thinking that I was going through what I went through a few months ago. Its definitely my biggest fear and Im not sure whether Im thinking myself into it or not. Should I stop the medication??
Again Ive only been on it for 2 weeks and only on 10mg for 3 days. Please help!

I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.
I started minocycline feb 10 and conceived my baby feb 21 but i didnt stop the medicine until march 9 ( only because i didnt know i was preg) im 7 weeks now and i just wanna know has anybody else expericed this with a positive outcome ?
All, I recently had a standard STD screen and my RDR test showed positive and came back at 1:8 for the quant. test. I have a scalp condition I've had for years that my dermatologist treats with 200mg daily of minocycline. I'm wondering 2 things:
1) Could the same scalp condition cause the RDR test to show a false-positive? Especially a 1:8 reading?
2) If it IS truly positive, is Minocycline 200mg daily (which I've taken for 2+ yrs) sufficient to treat for syphillis?
I was off minocycline for five days before I started birth control,as starting will the minocycline still be in my system and effect the birth control?
I could not find a testing location in our rural location, read about Gonorrhea and knew that was my issue, I had discharge, pain while urinating. I took some of her Minocycline 200 MG for two days and three days of 100MG ALL SYMTOMS disappeared. I abstained from sex and took my first appointment at testing center in the city which was last Friday. They gave me a shot of antibiotics and two huge antibiotic pills, and did all the testing.
Apparantley your local GP does not have the knowledge of serious skin complaints and would not know how to treat it. Hillarious!! I have suffered with low self esteem and depression over this and now I hope I am going in the right direction. Thank Goodness.
