Avatar m tn Again I consult with second, he prescribed me mentioned above, But I read from Internet that Isotretinoin has many side effects including hair fall, so I neglect that dosage of Isotretinoin by afraid , only azithromycin took for 6 days. Pimples are reduced to some extent but they are leaving scars on face. Is HH fudic cream will work for both pimples and scars ? Dosage of Minoz 50 (minocycline) will work for me if I takes this 20 days, is it good for health to take it in 6 months for 20 days ?
Avatar n tn Hi. I have been on minocycline since I was 21 (now 29) for acne. I recently went to a new family practice Dr. While I was there he noticed I was on mino and asked how long I'd been taking it. I told him my acne treatment history. He pointed out that my shines were green (look like bruises). He asked how long I'd had those "bruises". I replyed that they'd been there longer then normal. Months maybe.
Avatar m tn s opinion on the effectiveness of Accutane on smaller acne heads. My acne is on my face, neck, back, and chest. There are not very many big acne heads (I have benzoyl peroxide5%, Differin 3%, and Minocyclin 100 mg twice a day). These medications play a big part in my not having many big zits. Anyways, I have lots of little acne heads all over. How effective is Accutane at getting rid of these heads and keeping them off? (from your experience or from official sources) Thanks!
Avatar f tn I recently read about a genetic test called AcneDX that tests whether or not oral antibiotics will be an effective acne treatment. My teenaged daughter has moderate acne and tetracycline has been suggested. I'm concerned about giving her a medication that may have side effects and produce an antibiotic resistance later in her life, and it may not even work to clear her acne up. The test sounds like a great way to find out prior to treatment if the antibiotics will help.
Avatar f tn I've been taking mino for two weeks. My dermatologist prescribed it to me for my severe acne. Lately I started having an allergic reaction. My scalp, my palms in my hands, feet and my body started itching really bad. I feel like ants all over my body. I stopped now and took benadryl pills and it helped. So now, what am I going to do now to help fix my acne?! I don't like Accutane either coz I read bad side effects. Any suggestions? Thanks for the advice.
Avatar m tn m currently down to one 50mg pill a day to control my acne, my question is what effects does it have on my cognitive ability and memory over such a long period of time.
Avatar n tn Severe forms of acne are usually treated with retinoids which was used in your case. However, retinoids have their side effects and there are several if you try to read about them. In cystic or nodular acne, you may have to take oral medications. Also ask your doctor if surgical removal or intralesional injection of corticosteroids may be used. Ask your dermatologist about this and see if this may be indicated in your case. Acne may subside as one grows older. How old are you?
Avatar f tn If you are having inflammatory acne then tetracycline or doxycycline or minocycline; benzoyl peroxide 5% gel; azelaic acid 20% cream; clindamycin 1% lotion or cream; erythromycin 2% gel or cream. If you are having recalcitrant acne in women then probably oral contraceptive containing norgestimate 0.25 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.035 mg; spironolactone; prednisone. If you have acne where sweating is an aggravating factor then aluminum chloride solution should be your choice of your treatment.
7988747 tn?1396207441 I was on minocycline for acne for just as long as you have been. The truth is yes it can have effects but the risk is very very very low. I was put on special fetal growth monitoring, and had to see a specialist. Im now six months pregnant with a perfectly healthy baby. They said it's really a low chance because i wasnt on it very long but they still wanted the monitoring, and took me off of it two weeks ago because baby is so healthy!
1630773 tn?1299747792 I don't usually get acne, but get a pimple from time to time. About 36 hours ago, before going to sleep, I noticed a small group of bumps on my face. I instantly thought "where did this come from!?". It is located in the area below my lower lip (left side), above my chin. They don't itch, they don't look like regular acne. This has not happened to me ever. I'm 31 yrs old, male, and usually have clear skin on my face.
1517845 tn?1311553534 Perioral dermatitis like acne is a chronic papulopustular and eczematous facial dermatitis. It mostly effects women and appear around the nose, mouth and eyes. Treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. Doxycycline is the preferred antibiotic for perioral dermatitis but minocycline can also be used.
507935 tn?1217359454 Minocycline is a commonly prescribed antibiotic for acne. AIH is not listed as a side effect to the drug (of course) but I wouldn't want anyone I know to be on it after what happened with me. My liver failure happened right before I got diagnosed. Just had the usual jaundice, joint pain, nausea, etc. I was immediately put on prednisone once they found out my counts were around 1500 and had a liver biopsy.
Avatar f tn t think much of it. Soon after I started taking apo-minocycline again, since my acne was popping up more without it, and sure enough, about a week and a half later, a rash identical to the last had appeared. This is where I am now, except that it is much more itchy than the last, and my skin doesn't seem as scaly, but still dry. It started the same, but has now spread to both sides of my neck and is irregularly shaped, somewhat blotchy, and some days it shows more than others.
Avatar f tn ever since I started Minocycline (about 2 weeks ago) I've also been feeling like I can't concentrate, and also like I'm not as smart or as sharp as I was before. could this also be related to the medication? thanks for getting back so quickly. I will talk to my physician and see what he has to say. hopefully I can find an alternative or go off the medication and get my life back.
Avatar m tn A clinical trial led by doctors Luanne Metz and Wee Yong shows the common acne medicine minocycline can slow the process of MS in people who have experienced initial symptoms of the debilitating autoimmune disease. The clinical trial that led to minocycline’s proved efficacy was conducted at the university’s Hotchkiss Brain Institute at the Cumming School of Medicine. The results of the trial are to be published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Thursday.

Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it can be acne or acne keloidalis nuchae. Treatment includes suppression of the inflammation with antibiotics and steroid gels or intralesional steroid injections. So apply antibiotic cream like Neosporin or Bactroban. If the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics and steroids may be needed. So continue using the Minocycline and if the symptoms persist then steroids may have to be added. Please consult a dermatologist in that case. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I really hope my derm lets me cause I understand all the potential side effects and would really like to do it in the safest means possible but if he doesn't and I do self medicate I would like to know what extra precautions I should take to stay as safe as possible. Please don't try and dissuade me and just help me to know the safest way I could go about this treatment.
Avatar n tn I had stop using it and the irritation is even worse. I searched the cream and perioral dermatitis is listed as one of its side effects! So I've been applying a cream that gives me the same skin problem I already have!? Also I'm using Benzaderm 10% wash with aloe vera, Tazorac and taking solodyn (minocycline) for acne treatment. Do these products irritate perioral dermatits even more? and what do I do about steroid cream?
Avatar n tn The treatment that you have been prescribed is correct. If you are having any side effects then get the antibiotics changed and even oral antibiotics can be added. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I have been on Minocycline for acne for well over a year. Usually I take 50mg twice a day, although for the last month have been on 75mg twice a day. If by some freak chance I had rectally contracted Gonorrhea or Chlamydia, would this antibiotic take care of it?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.
