Avatar n tn Hi, I have index finger middle knuckle pain arised due to continuous mouse clicking.. Please advice on how to get relief..
Avatar n tn Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of median nerve which supplies the three middle fingers of the hand and causes pain in the same and I think which is also the most likely cause of discomfort in your hand. Rare causes could be arthritis, minor trauma of bones of the hand etc. I would suggest that you visit a orthopaedician for further assistance. All the best.
Avatar f tn I'm a healthy 29 year old female. For the past two days I've had intense pain in my fingers and occassionally works its way into my forearm and shoulder. Usually the pain is at its worse during the night. It first starts with pins and needles then it feels like severe joint pain that gets worse. I've had this same finger hand pain before a few months back and it lasted for nearly a month then. At that time my doctor said it was trigger finger.
Avatar f tn This then presses on the nerve which then causes a pain right up to the elbow. Thumb and pointer finger are first to be affected. Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and key pad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between helps. A wrist support or arm support too helps and you have computer chairs with support for your spine and arm.

In your case the problem may have been there for a long time, but repeated clicking of the mouse could have triggered the pain now.
Avatar f tn About 2 weeks ago, I noticed a problem with a finger on my right hand...whenever I ran an edge of a cupboard along the side of my middle finger, grabbed something, or used my hand to push the lever of the La-Z-Boy into position, the side closest to my ring finger (the center knuckle & also the knuckle closest to my hand) gave me *exquisite* (painful!!) sensation. BIG time pins and needles! The very uncomfortable sensation lasted about a minute. Within the past day or two, a new thing!
Avatar m tn s no swelling. My wrist pops easily. The central knuckles of my index finger, middle finger and ring finger all hurt. The index finger also hurt a few days at the base, but stopped. I have a doctor's appointment on the 7th. Sorry for the repeated posts; just a little worried and the appointment seems so far away. If you were me, what you lean closer to? Arthritis or tendonitis?
Avatar f tn The nerve innervating (supplying) the thumb, the index finger and the middle fingers is the median nerve. This can get compressed in the wrist, leading to numbness of these areas leading to a condition called Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. The nerve can get compressed due to obesity, Diabetes Mellitus, hypothyroidism, arthritis and trauma, these causes will have to be dealt with.
Avatar n tn specifically, the two finger joints of the pinky, the top joint of the ring finger, the central joint of the middle finger and sometimes the knuckle and central joint of the index finger. My thumb's central joint can be popped but causes no pain or tightness. Pressing my hand flat on a surface and forcing it to remain there causes tightness at the wrist and I can feel what can only be described as a 'spring effect' at the knuckles when I release.
Avatar m tn m a house painter and recently brought my hand down onto the sharp point of one of my painting tools. It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course. That was over two weeks ago. I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas?

432737 tn?1358549432 I'm just over 34 weeks. For the last week or so, I've been waking up in the middle of the night and morning to really bad finger pain that lasts for aw hile! It's hard to bend my fingers and sometimes they make a popping feeling when I bend them. Middle three fingers on each hand are the worst. During the day, they're not "as" sore, but still a little. I can't seem to find anything about this in my baby books. My hands don't look swollen. Anyone else have this??
Avatar f tn I injured my middle finger in a Rugby game three months ago. I did go to a doctor to have it looked at and he x-rayed it and said it wasn't broken . He said it could be ligament and tendon damage and if the pain doesn't get any better, then I would need to go back to see him. It has been three months since the injury and the pain is still the same. It hurts when I hold my finger and move it side to side and up and down and also when pressure is applied.
Avatar f tn I do a lot of computing and am 90% sure that it has been caused by the use of the finger to operate the mouse wheel. I am changing today to use my middle finger to operate the wheel. If there is any change, I will add to this comment. Later: The numbness disappears later in the day, when the temperature gets a bit warmer (it is now winter) so I guess it is largely temperature related.
Avatar m tn When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred to chest, inner lining of scapula (shoulder bone), shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. Repeated clicking of mouse of computer can injure the tendon of index, cause compression of median nerve and also cause this numbness. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar m tn ok first things first. The knuckle above my right middle finger is swollen. This is due to me constantly hitting hard surfaces. i have no pain in that particular finger or knuckle or any part of the hand but i cant fully raise my right ring finger. It gets to about half way and i cannot raise it anymore unless i force it up with my other hand. Apart from that i have full use of my right hand and no pain in or around the knuckle or finger. Any ideas whats wrong??
Avatar m tn I have 3 herniated discs one which causes nerve pain - This became much worse after a car accident but it started before that I have osteoarthritis - This is directly linked to guitar playing and the fingers I use most are the ones that are most visibly affected. I also get this kind of pain with doing anything too much with a specific finger, say using my pointer finger to control my laptop mouse pad.
Avatar n tn i have noticed a lump in the middle of my middle finger, its sore and moves from side to side, then a day or two later i noticed another a bit higher up, just as painful, can u help?
Avatar m tn This could be carpal tunnel syndrome due to entrapment of median nerve. it is caused by prolonged use of computer or thumb and index finger as in improper position of arm and wrist can result in mouse elbow. Application of ice pack, anti-inflammatory drugs, wearing wrist braces, stretching and strengthening exercises when the pain subsides and modification of the way you click mouse goes a long way in avoiding further injury and treating the present symptoms.
Avatar f tn When I wake in the mornings, my left thumb and my 3 middle finger joints and thumb on my right hand hurts like mad. What can this be? I work in an office and use the keyboard and mouse constantly, can that be the reason this is happening? Is there some topical ointment I can rub on it to make the aching pain go away? If not, is there some oral medicine used to treat this kind of pain!! Thank you in advance for your help.
Avatar m tn It can even be trigger finger where the joints lock up. Once you unlock the joint by moving your finger, the finger straightens. It can also be a tense tendon. Stretching and strengthening exercises may help. Please show this to your doctor. Take care! Avatar n tn Hi, I am new to this site. Just recently I started having some pain in my ring and middle finger of my left arm that would wake me up in the night and by just changing the position of my arm pain would subside..and this happens only when I am sleeping. I also noticed my left outer ear was also very tender so I decided to check on the web to see what this could be and found there are thousands of people with similar problem..which Drs.
Avatar f tn ve developed a strange symptom the last 3 days where my just the tops of my index, middle and ring fingers are in excuriating pain...no swelling, no redness - nothing....just pain...I feel I'm on the verge of a relapse - where my legs and face are getting painful, etc., but not full fledge yet. Could this be attributed to my MS ?
