Hi, probably it is because of development of anal fissure, although surgical treatment is done for this condition but symptomatic relief can be obtained with applying lignocaine jelly, for softening stool take some stool softeners along with antibiotic like ciprofloxacin and metronidazole. Other new treatment option is application of NTG ointment.
While I've been waiting to get back into the proctologist, I went to see a GP, who prescribed metronidazole. After 2 days of metronidazole (500mg 3xday), all of my lymph nodes (particularly my groin) are swollen, I've developed a rash across my torso (no itching), and I feel like feverish/sick The metronidazole has helped a little with the itching and swelling around my anus, but it is still definately present.
I have also noticed a few white fluid filled pockets in the rash occasionally. Originally I had tried an otc antibiotic ointment with no luck, then moved on to a cortizone ointment with no luck. A doctor friend gave me a sample of betamethazone to try and it seems to be helping slowly over about 5 weeks, but it seems to have stopped progressively getting better. Doesn't seem like its quite enough to make it completely disappear. Any suggestions as to what this is and how to treat it? Thanks!
Hello, I have just been diagnosised with a steroid induced rosacea after 4 months use of Diprosone (I am French, I am not sure that medical preparations are called the same in the US) I totally stopped to apply Diprosone 4 days ago and started a Rozex ointment (metronidazole) today. I would like to know how long it will take for my skin to get back to normal. I also noticed that you recommand Tacrolimus ointment in that case. Do you think metronidazole is a good treatment as well?
After seeing a dermatologist he prescribed me Doxycycline for 1 month and an ointment made of Clindamycin 2%, HC 1% in 80% h20 and 20% isopropanol. This ointment took away the red spots before I even started the anti biotics but once I ran out, the spots came back again... After this, I started Doxycycline and the dry spots disappeared but a few days after finishing this treatment, the small red dots below my mouth are returning and it's always in the same area!
It is very annoying, noticeable, and I can feel it constantly - it feels like a disturbed dryness although I keep it moist with ointment (Centany, mupirocin ointment). I have attached 2 pictures and two close ups of it below. There is a small part on the side of the nose that may contain a little bit of puss, but I can't tell for sure. Thank you in advance for your help! http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f387/jbobbet/nose1.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f387/jbobbet/nose3.
My OB gave me some Amlactin lotion to try, it dried my skin out but no relief. After about a month I saw a dermatologist who gave me desonide ointment, it makes the bumps disappear and my skin to smooth but the redness persists and as soon as I stop it flares right back up (getting worse over time). He cultured it at the time and was only able to tell me that it wasn't fungal. After a month I saw him again, I quit the desonide for a 1.
However, three weeks ago my skin started to redden again, and i went to see the doctor. I got given just some metronidazole cream and told to apply this twice a day. A few days later though and my face was more red, dry, very hot and my eyelids had began to swell up. If i apply a little hydrocortisone the swelling and redness goes down for a couple of days then re-occurs. I don't seem to have much in the way of papules and pustules, but the skin does weep a little. It is very distressing.
I went back to the doctor and was put on metronidazole 0.75%. When i stopped hydrocortisone and just used metronidazole my skin went very red, dry, itchy and slightly raised. My skin was also weeping and my eyes started to swell. I got quite scared and used some hydrocortisone which made the skin almost return to normal after just a couple of applications. But as soon as i stopped the steroid cream all symptoms would come flooding back.
I'm also thinking of using an ointment on the Each gram of Dermatologic ointment contains: ketoconazole .................... 20.0 mg betamethasone (as dipropionate )*................. 0.5 mg neomycin (as sulphate )**.................... 2.5 mg Excipient q.s.p. .................... 1.0 g Excipients: sodium sulphite, butylhydroxytoluene, phenoxyethanol, butilparabeno, ethyl, propyl, methyl, 95% vaseline, 5% polyethylene glycol and hydrochloric acid. * Each 1.

This ointment took away the red spots before I even started the anti biotics but once I ran out, the spots came back again... After this, I started Doxycycline and the dry spots disappeared but it made my face break out and a few days after finishing this treatment, the small red dots below my mouth are returning and it's always in the same area!
For the past 18 months I have frequently used hydrocortisone ointment on my cheeks (mainly the right cheek) to treat atopic dermatitis,as diagnosed by a derm. In the past few months my face has become extremely red & burns intolerably; some nights I can't sleep. Small pimples are visable on the right side. It does not itch. I returned to my derm who said I may have some component of Rosacea, although he was unsure. He prescribed 100mg doxycycline daily + metronizazole cream.
I had a back lower right molar removed. The dentist had to freeze me over 10 times. The extraction went OK but a day & 1/2 after the extraction - my lower right and a bit above was very sore then my right cheek started to swell up the size of a golf ball. Went back to the dentist 5 days later - he said you have an infection - prescribed antibiotics - 2 kinds Amoxil & Metronidazole - now today the swelling has reduced 2 days later. What can I eat? and is the whole thing normal?
I visited a dermatologist who prescribed a steroid ointment. Lately, I've been getting these small bumps only on my chin that are fluid-filled, not pus, and kind of cluster together. They aren't pimples and don't form heads and they seem different from the rash I had before from mangoes. When I "pop" them, a clear fluid seeps out. I did a little research and considered it could be perioral dermatitis.
I FOUND A SOLUTION EVERYONE OMG PLEASE READ THIS, I had EXACTLY the same problem as everyone here, dry irritated red itchy skin above my lip, I went to the doctors so many times and it got me down sooo much, I was going to get a referral from a skin specialist but decided to try the doctors for the 8th time.. after trying fucidin H, dalktarin, metronidazole etc..anyway..
My living experience-do not douche,do not use all this smell good no where near your goodies, wear panties with cotton seats,no perfume, soaps, sprays, ointments, oils Nothing but clean clear water and a mild soap(safe-guard) is great. If you must have sex limit your partners or use a condom each and every time. If you think your partner is unfaithful use a condom because the next time it may not be bv.Each person is different but the diseases are the same.
Get a prescription from your doctor for either metronidazole cream or oral doxycycline (or both). The rash should be gone for good in about 30-60 days. Take care. Dr.
They made a J pouch of small intestine and did anastamosis to her anus via stripped rectum (IPAA) and she has always had frequent loose bowel movements, but not liquid. She has been using various ointments and creams containing 20% benzocaine to control the pain. Not always successfully. During a recent ‘scope she was found to have small ulcers between pouch and anus. She was prescribed cortisone enemas, but she is so sore that she cannot insert the tip.
Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted on how you are doing.
Hi Northcoast Consider looking into lichen schlerosis. There are various discussions going on in women's health and in the dermatology area. Hope this helps some.
There could be a few trigger factors to this like emotional stress, sun exposure, hot humid climates, hot baths, alcohol, some food products etc. You could try using anti-biotic ointment such as metronidazole with azelaic acid and see if this seem to help. If you do not notice improvement I would suggest seeing a dermatologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Trichomoniasis is treated with a specific group of drugs known as the nitroimidazoles, either metronidazole or tinidazole, 2g as a single dose, preferably to both the partners. Greenish vaginal discharge may also be a symptom of a skin disorder known as Lichen Sclerosus, this is characterized by skin changes that occurs on the vulva. It can also be due to bacterial vaginosis. Third possibility is a non specific vaginitis.
Over time, it turned from small papular (in my best description) red spots to having slight ***** areas in the middle. I eventually turned to an over the counter hydrocortisone ointment, which helped for a short time, but then ceased to help, and it seemed like the condition just worsened. In mid April, I went to a general healthcare practicioner at my school, who diagnosed me with folliculitis of the beard area, and she gave me clindamycin pledgets to use for a bacterial infection.
He just put on some ointment and was done. When I asked the nurse if I can kiss my boyfriend she said yes, Can I trust her? Also she recommended me a "Triamcinolone Acetonide" ointment. I kissed a guy about 14 days ago could he have given me HSV and I din't know about it? I had a antibiotics for couple of weeks (amoxycillin and metronidazole) will that somehow weaken my immune system. I got a date tomorrow and I'm pretty sure we will kiss.
I apologize in advance for the novel I'm about to write! I've always had moderately problematic skin: blackheads, whiteheads, & papules,& I see a derm. In an attempt to try a different avenue, I went to an aethestician in April & I allowed her to do a "mild" chemical peel on my face (20% glycolic acid). As a result, I got contact dermititis on my neck & was prescribed Bethamethasone Valerate .1%. It cleared up the problem in 2 days, & I thought it was great.
He has been on Bacitracin Ointment, Metronidazole Topical Gel USP 0.75%, Metronidazole 500 mg tablets, Bactrim and Prednisone. Not all at once of course. The only thing that has worked has been the Prednisone. The rash/sores have cleared up but have left scarring. The do not itch in general. Do become very red and are very nasty looking. We cover his face with makeup so that he can go out in public. They do almost look like sores.
- Putting ANYTHING on my face, including hydrocortisone or any other supposedly anti-inflammatory ointments or creams. I've tried switching to hypoallergenic, alcohol-free shampoos, laundry soap, etc., but that didn't seem to have much effect. The only product I've gotten any relief with is a particular shaving gel containing 'oatmeal'. I've even used this shaving gel as a face cleaner, on occasion. I do have allergies, but they are almost entirely to plant pollen and outdoor molds...
ALSO IN RESEARCHING THIS CONDITION, I USE A 45 SPF SUNCREEN THAT IS A ZINC OINTMENT. I AVOID THE SUN, SPICY FOODS AND OTHER SUGGESTIONS BUT IN THE MORNINGS MY MID[FACE LOOKS SWOLLEN. I WILL SAY, I BELIEVE THE ZYRTEC IS HELPING SOMEWHAT. NOW, AFTER ALL THE ABOVE, I AM FINALLY COMING TO MY QUESTION: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ACCUTANE IN SMALL DOSE (10 MG) FOR RHINOPHYMA.? I KNOW THE CO2 IS SOMETIMES USED BUT I WOULD PREFER SOMETHING LESS DRASTIC IF POSSIBLE.
You can use tacrolimus ointment for this.Using this rosacea often resolves the itch, redness, and tenderness of steroid-induced rosacea in 7 to 10 days with twice daily application. Complete clearing of steroid-induced rosacea usually takes 1 to 2 months. Sometimes clearing takes a bit longer. Avoiding rosacea triggers, such as caffeine, spicy foods, and alcohol, also may help clear the skin. But pls don’t worry as it is not a permanent condition. Hope it helps.
All of the tests came back and I was told I had bacteria there so I was given Clendesse (which is a one day treatment) and it still did nothing so they called in a script of oral metronidazole for 5 days. Nothing. So I went to yet another dr and was told I had a bladder infection and was given keflex which caused a yeast infection. I've been in and out of dr's offices for 5 months now with no answers.
