Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol interactions

toprol

Avatar m tn I currently take Amiodarone 200mg a day, Metoprolol 100mg a day, Prilosec OTC 40mg a day. I have occasional Atrial Fibrillation. I was put on the Metoprolol in 2004 (my dosage is much lower now) and the Amiodarone in July 2008. I suffer greatly from panic attacks and extreme anxiety. My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me at 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day thereafter. He knows all the meds I currently take, of course.
Avatar f tn Can I take Metoprolol Succinate and Indole 3 Carbinol without any drug interactions? I have been taking Metoprolol Succinate for tachycardia for a few years now and have gained weight I was watching the Dr. Oz show and he recommended takig Indole 3 Carbinol for people who carry more weight on the bottom half of their body. It just being vegetables wouldnt seem to effect anything, but I'm juat asking to be on the safe side. I have tried doing my own research but I have not found anything.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. Can I run into problems by combining these two drugs.
Avatar n tn I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.

Avatar f tn Been on Atenolol (for 15 years) then switched to Metoprolol when the Aten quit stopping the palpitations. Well..I havent felt "right" for a while now. Tired, always feel like I have a SLIGHT case of vertigo..not really dizzy..but...off.... I kept up with my workouts and every other crazy thing in my life. Went to the cardiac workout place on Wed of last week to workout, and I was telling the tecnician about how I had been feeling.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Metoprolol Tartrate (50mg/2XD) last Monday due to HBP. When I went back to my doctor for a follow up on Friday, he also decided to put me on Xanax (PRN) and Celexa (10mg/1XD). I always research any medication I take, and have been reading that the Metoprolol Tartrate and the Citaprolam are a bad combination and can lead to extremely low blood pressure or even heart stoppage.
Avatar f tn I'm currently on 12.5mg of metoprolol succinate and 50mg sertraline and my doctor wants me to stop taking the beta blocker. He told me that just stopping it on 12.5 should be ok but I have concerns. I read that taking the two together can cause more levels of beta blocker to be in the system than normal due to how the liver processes both medications. Should I just stop it at 12.5 or should I taper down further to 6.25mg? Anyone else stop taking Toprol XL while on Zoloft?
Avatar f tn She switched me to 100mg ER Metoprolol to take in the morning and 20mg lisinopril for the night. I had to take my bp every day and went back every week. Every week it would be high at the dr Office and she would increase the lisinopril. Mind you, I didn't take prescription anything prior to this except maybe an antibiotic when needed. Now I'm on these high doses of bp meds. Initially I thought well I'll get used to them, there's always an adjustment time.
Avatar n tn I'm on Bupropion 300mg/day and Xanax (0.25 - 0.5mg as needed). Also taking Metoprolol 25mg/day for hypertension. I'd like to ask my doctor to add Fluoxetine to boost my serotonin. Are there any bad side effects from combining these meds?
Avatar m tn I was given Zoloft 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day, but was told they interact with Metoprolol and could cause the Metoprolol to build up in my system. Is there anything else I can take? I had to stop taking Xanax (as needed) because of the interaction with Amiodarone. Someone please help, I am losing it here. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I think they are both beta blockers, as is Metoprolol, which is a generic and is a low cost beta blocker. I time 50 mg of slow release Metroprolol a day to lower my heart rate which is subjected to AFib. It works for me, keeps my resting HR at about 80-85.
Avatar m tn m off to the electrophysiologist today and am hopeful that he will find a solution for these dreadful pvcs. I am taking 25 mg of metoprolol 2 x a day and 120 mg of cardizem once a day. I have been taking these for a month now and can't really tell a difference. They might have lessened the frequency some but they seem so "pronounced" now that my heart rate is slower. I also take 75 mg of effexor xr for the anxiety they are causing me. Has anyone had good luck with these meds?
Avatar n tn She wore a 24 hour heart monitor and our general practioner said it reported over 800 pvcs in that 24 hour period. He prescribed metoprolol tartr 25 mg 2x a day and scheduled her to see a cardiologist next week. I have a few questions... 1) Is this perscription necessary before she is seen by a cardioloigist (I understand it is used to decrease the number of pvc's) 2). What would be considered a dangerouse number of pvc's over a 24 hour period? 3).
Avatar f tn i also take hormones and xanax...i read where alot of my meds have interactions...but pharmisits say its ok.............
612551 tn?1450022175 Thanks you so much for posting your comment about the drug interactions between metoprolol and grapefruit! My fiance wanted to eat a grapefruit and I remembered a reaction between the two...thank goodness for your help!!
Avatar f tn I have neurocardiogenic syncope and I'm on atenolol 25 mg a day for that. It's still been bad so my doctor wanted me to try SSRI therapy to see if that might rebalance things. She's putting me on a LOW dose of Prozac (5 mg/day) to start. However, I read somewhere that there can be interactions between beta-blockers and SSRIs, however, the only beta-blocker mentioned was propranolol.
12182312 tn?1427683956 SSRIs like paroxetine are a type of antidepressant that works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain, while metoprolol is a beta blocker which works on the heart. What type of metoprolol are you taking. Metoprolol Tartrate or Metoprolol Succinate?
