Hello. On Saturday, I gave and received unprotected oral sex from another man. He claimed he was disease free though he came a little bit in my mouth before I could spit it out and I'm super worried. I made myself throw up about 15 minutes afterward. I've gotten the chlamydia and gonorrhea test and they also did a blood draw for hiv, though it's too soon to detect probably. What are my chances of getting hiv and other stds?

Maybe this explains the arrthymia after sex - I hope so, as it has never occured with another I don't know what else could be causing it. i am on methadone maintenance for opiate addiction, if methadone is also an opiate blocker what prescription meds will give me relief from my pain? i mean, do i take higher doses of opiate to get relief from my pain or is there a certain pain med i need to take while on methadone to get relief from my pain? please HELP!!!!
Hi I am new to Medhelp so if I double posted I am sorry. Anyway I am preg and was addicted to hydrocodone 10 mg 3X a day. I wanted to just stop cold turkey but was unable to cause of the WD and being preg. I went to a Dr w/my OB's advice to get on Suboxone,but he wouldn't cause he said Methadone is what is used while preg as it is safe? He started me on 10 mg 3X day which is WAY to strong so I am now trying 5mg 2X a day.
What is Methadone?: Methadone is an opiate that was first introduced after World War II as an alternative to morphine. Methadone was originally thought to be less addictive because of its extremely long half life. Today, methadone is used as an analgesic for pain management and more popularly as replacement therapy for heroin and other opiate addictions. Methadone is a cheap alternative to other opiate based medications which outweighs it potency when prescribing.
Most physicians have little to no experience with (or much knowledge of) methadone and how it works and especially methadone and pregnancy. A doctor must hold special licensing to prescribe methadone for opiate addiction, and have the appropriate opiate-substitution training to do so. Therefore, you may not always get the current or correct advice from a general physician or OB-GYN. Your methadone clinic can't steer you to an OB-GYN with the correct addiction training.
I am no doctor but it is my opinion that you will go thru withdraw from the methadone, which is much worse than hydro. Methadone has a very long shelf life. Please be careful mixing the done with anything. A whole bunch of people that I know have died doing just what you are doing. Methadone stays in your system a long dang time. Be careful because when you play with fire you will get burned. If I were you, I would stay far away from the methadone. Just my opinion.
My opinion is throw the methadone away.One milligram of methadone is equal to 3 milligrams of morphine,so ten milligrams of methadone isn't such a small dose at all.I know it's rough but YOU CAN DO THIS and you don't need that methadone,it's not worth the risk.Sadinmichigan has a journal entry pertaining to methadone written by a doctor who treats patients comming off of it,you should give it a look.Best of luck to you....

My doctor gave me methadone to wean myself off of the 8-9 norco's (vicodin) I was taking per day for chronic neck pain since a car accident in 2007. The first day on a low dosage of methadone seemed to work for me and I needed less of the norco's. However, the second day on the methadone gave me a horrible reaction -- I couldn't even get out of bed. I had a constant headache.

Please consult a doctor. Methadone is not something you want to try and take on your own. You are correct in being scared of it. I have heard many horror stories about people taking it without being under the supervision of a medical proffesional.
I’ve been prescribed 10mg methadone x2 daily and 2weeks ago my dr changed it to 10mg OxyContin x2 daily. I now have double vision and am listless and cold. I have several methadone left from my old prescription. Would I be able to change and take the methadone instead of the OxyContin until I can talk to my dr on Monday. I was told the change was due to something from my blood work showing up wrong?
