I also take the Byetta now. My doc started me on it in March and I too immediately began to lose weight. It also began to regulate my blood sugars, if fact one day my level was so low that the doc reduced one of my meds from 2 pills twice a day to 1 pill twice a day. I must admit though that when I initially started I had to force myself to eat, whereas I was overeating before. I have not experienced the nausea which many say comes with this med.

t help then I am going to look into Weight Loss surgery.. I am close to 250lbs my biggest is 255.. and I am 5'6 I think that my weight has alot to do with all my health problems and not being able to get PG.. so I need to lose weight some how.. I am tired of yo-yo dieting... good luck...

Hello, obviously you are having a problem tolerating byetta, and given that this is now 3 months and you have lost so much weight, I would think it may be rational to ask your doctor if you can stop this medication and try something different? Why did your dr. not decide to start you on Metformin? Have you been monitoring your blood sugars (while on byetta)? What is your fasting and post-eating blood sugars. What was your Hba1c when you started this med?

Hello =) I'm 34 years old and am about to begin my first cycle with the ovulation drug clomid. I'm a type 2 diabetic, have PCOS, and I have PSVT. I take Byetta, metformin, and metoprolol. I have been working with my Dr. for about 18 months to loose weight (I've lost over 60 lbs), get my blood sugar under control (my last 2 AICs were normal), and get medically ready to have a child. Last week he told us he feels comfortable with my heath for my husband and I to try to get pregnant.

As I understand it, Victoza delays gastric emptying thus causing the feeling of fullness and decreased appetite. I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds).

Actually, it is not a pill, but an injection, and yet it is prescribed for weight loss and sugar control. It is called Byetta. Staying away from sugar, carbs and fats is great, and shows a lot of self-control and self-management, which is excellent.

can anyone tell me how much time does it take for metformin to effect the insulin level . and i dont see major sideeffect caused by metformin . what do u guys think . i was overweight , now i reduced my weight to the normal range with dieting and exercise still my insulin is high . every help will be hugely appreciated i am currently writing this with huge brainfogg and sleepiness .

Before going on metformin my weight was 277. I was put on metformin seven months ago and things have changed alot for me I dont eat as much as I use too. I take 500 mg twice a day. I take at lunch and dinner. The weight seem to just fall off without me really doing anything like execrise. Before I was tested for being insulin resistanced I craved sugary foods like candy. I would buy bags and bags of candy, but once i started metformin all those cravings stopped.

He told me that it will be easier for me to loose weight. Problem is that I am gaining weight, I cut my carbs and calories intake and walking for 1 hour 3 times a week, but still gaining weight. Does that mean metformin is not working for me ?

Can you tell me about its side effects? Recently I went for a checkup and my doctor gave me Metformin for weight loss (It suddently went up to 99 kg though I was at 85 before and was following a strict diet plan). I don't have diabetes and I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, and I think Metformin is generally used for these two issues. So I'm concened whether I should really be Metformin. Can it mess up my insulin system?

Hi, Drugs for weight loss cannot be taken for an unlimited period of time and need to be taken under medical supervision. Depending on your hormonal levels, the metforim should help with the PCOS. Weight loss can be achieved by a combination of dietary control and exercise. Hope this helps.

I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.

SO ive always struggled with my weight since i was youung around 10 or so, because of my pcos! But now they have put me on metoformin, and its been 2 1/2 weeks and my weight still goes up and down and i exericse every other day and watch what i eat! when will i start seeing results from the met!

Is Lantus and Metformin ok to take or is the Metformin harmful to my liver? I know several with Hep-c who take Metformin.

Since I now longer take Metformin I am having trouble losing the last 20 lbs I need to lose. Is there a connection between weight loss and taking Metformin. Has anyone else experienced this?

My TSH was at 1.4 in feb. and something else was 0.434 . I am type 2 and on 35 units of Lantus and sliding scale of novolog.

So it has definately helped with weight loss when I put some effort. So it does help with weight loss, but only when you are already trying to lose weight. If that makes sense?

My A1C has been improving slightly through weight loss, diet and exercise. It is now at 6.6 At its highest it was 7 or just under. I am not taking medication at present. My daily readings are slightly high in the morning at approx. 130 (dawn effect!), but normal the rest of the day at 100 or less. My GP prescribed 4x500 mg of Metformin daily which I am too hesitant to take. Any thoughts please?

Metformin and also with the help of diet will help to decrease weight. I take Metformin 500mg 2x a day and at one point lost 60 lbs....due to stress and family problems I have put 15 lbs back on over the last 6 months or so. But if you continue to eat right and take this drug with moderate working out, the weight will drop and stay off.

As soon as I was diagnosed I cut out carbs and now my weight is at 92 - 95 pounds. I am very small boned and when I was younger I weighed between 90 & 95 pounds until I turn 40 something. My morning blood sugar fasting when I was first diagnosed at hardly ever below 135 in the morning. Even the first 3 months with a high protein low carb diet my sugar was staying about 125 in the morning.
