I am sorry for your Dx. I am a female but also now hypo.Since the beginning of my illness everything I read regarding the disease, when I stumbled across the stats of men getting it, I read through it. Dx is rare. specially on sub clinical Hypo or Hyper thyroidism in men. I believe this b/c men are less likely to see a doctor when they have symptoms. and if they do go and get Dx'd - most do not have the patience and stay on top of it.
Holy - I am vegan (have been for 3 years) and am now doing to candida diet on top of the vegan diet. I do admit that I started eating fish once or twice a week though for protein. Other than that, the diet is boooring.
I admit I need to drop some weight and have changed my diet dramatically and can see my new muscle is burning off the fat. I plan on maintaining my current intake of Test and increasing my cardio and reducing my sodium to get my blood pressure down. I would say not to be scared of injections and stay at 1cc a week max. You will feel like a 20 year old again soon and any side effects will be minimal because you a getting back to normal levels.
I have exactly the same symptoms. I am 44 years old and have been dealing with this on and off for at least 10 years...it seems to occur more often as I get older. I went to the doctor and was told it was GERD and then was given acid reflux medication. The doctors also seem to dismiss my symptoms because I am overall very heathy.
The best we can hope for in a candidate, is one who supports true health care over insurance co. profits. So if the lobby system doesn't change...
And I don't wear contacts either. And the itching drives me crazy! My health insurance doen't cover dermatology :( so I'm trying to solve the mystery myself. Any help would be WONDERFUL!!!! Thanks in Advance!
so little correct information and even then there is disagreement! Or, women are brushed off regarding their health...regarding good hormone information and the fact that women do not have to suffer as they do. Theat there are "good" estrogens and "bad" ones, that the need for progesterone is critical (in my opinion) even if you DON'T have a uterus, and that there is actually much protection available from hormonal support if it is done correctly.
Seven years of chasing what I thought was an answer and I would have been better off to get a CPAP, and I am still not sure what is wrong with my health post op and trying to figure out how to fix the aesthetic mess the maxfax made. And finally.... yes, burning hot knife pain in several areas of the feet and a hot knife a couple inches above right knee... really the bottom of the right quadricep.
I have gone down hill in the past week. My autonomic NS has been acting up also. I go from constipation to diarrhea on and off. I am trying to get in to a new neurologist at Mass General Hospital. They said hopefully before Christmas. I hope to not get any more weak before then. I did go to a neurologist last Friday who said I have polyneuropathy. I have started to go much further down hill though. I have read all the posts here and feel for all of you.
I have gained some weight over the years and decided to go on a diet with my friend. We did the Michael Thurmond diet. Absolutely no salt, no dairy, no bread. All I could eat was meat, vegetables, fruit and potatoes or rice. Within 1 week, one day I noticed i didn't have any pain in any of my joints. It was amazing. I could get down on the floor and back up with absollutely no effort. I started moving around and noticed that I had no pain anywhere.
I also tried acupuncture, chiropractic work, and diet changes. My only diagnosis, which is what I think it is, is brachioradial pruritis, but the only prescription for relief was more creams—no root of cause or lasting cure or solution. Only relief is ice. It started 10 years ago (was living in mountains of Colorado--sunny, but little humidity) in the summer. It comes back every year around July/August and lasts thru December, disappearing just as suddenly as it returned.
