Memory problems and menopause

Common Questions and Answers about Memory problems and menopause

memory

Avatar n tn If menory is memory then it's a big time yes to lapses at least in perimenopause (I haven't made it to menopause quite yet). In addition to the memory issues I've also had problems finding words, I saw it referred to once as "losing one's vowels" and I love that analogy.
Avatar f tn I am only 52 and having memory issues during my workday. Yesterday and today I have had times I have gotten things turned around and forgot completely what I was supposed to be doing. I have a routine that doesn't vary too much each day, but am a school teacher and on rainy days the schedule fluctuates some and on 2:00 days my daily schedule changes some....Most days are same routine though.
Avatar f tn This usually presents with widespread myalgia (muscle ache) and arthralgia (bone and joint ache), headaches, chronic mental and physical exhaustion, cognitive difficulties, concentration difficulty and memory problems. Cognitive behavior therapy, memory games, multivitamin therapy, nutritional care, graded increase in exercise all help to treat it. There is no cause for this.
Avatar f tn yes i do have anxiety, along with dizziness, ears ringing, eyes getting worse, IBS, poor concentration, memory getting worse, and depression that comes and goes(some days i feel like curling up and just crying and don't know why)......like i said though, thank you for letting me know that i'm not the only one that has these issues.....
1710020 tn?1311737124 For the past three months have been so tired. For past (1) month have been having memory problems and heart palpatations at strange times during the day and night when at rest (totally relaxed) Hot flashes. I am 54 and menopause in 2006. Endo says symptoms are unrelated to the thyroid. My hair seems to be falling out more since the surgery or at least I am noticing it more. My tests before surgery are as follows TSH (3rd 1.17 N T4 FREE 1.1 N T4 Throxine 7.
Avatar n tn Liver dysfunction (get liver enzymes done—liver function test), kidney dysfunction (get kidney function test done), and anemia can make a person appear drunk. Poor sleep pattern and sleep problems like sleep apnea too can cause brain fog. Sleep studies by sleep specialists can help diagnose this. Low Vit D or Vit B12 too could be the cause. From you symptoms alone it also sounds like chronic fatigue syndrome.
Avatar n tn Or fibromyalgia which can make you feel like a truck ran over you and cause memory problems/mental fog. Ask your doc for help with the depression and constipation. See a Gynecologist and check out the possibility of menopause and a Rheumatologist for the possibility of fibro. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Mood changes and all the symptoms associated with menopause are hormone caused. Estrogen and testosterone production decline or go away with surgical menopause and if we don't supplement it, then all sorts of things happen. Low estrogen manifests itself in: 1. Hot flashes, sweating (episodes of sweating) 2. Night Sweats 3. Heart discomfort (unusual awareness of heart beat, heart skipping, heart racing, tightness) 4.
Avatar f tn My symptoms, Hot Flashes, numbness and tingling in hands and feet, train sound in my head 24/7, muscle spasms, fat pockets on my belly, sinus problems, ears and throat hurts all the time, left side of the top of my head hurts and is tender (the side of silent stroke) muscle loss, blurred vision, memory loss, brain fog, panic attacks, can not lose weight no matter what I do, don't sleep well, feel tired all the time, I'm sure there is things I forgot to mention.
Avatar f tn I have been having hot flashes about two years. The memory thing, mood swings, and insomnia, we cannot judge for I have a TBI and PTSD from injuries I sustained when I was in the military. But I have only missed one period. A doctor, last August, wanted to put me on birth control pills for three months to try to stop my periods. I tried it. It did not work. Now I'm being told I am actually in menopause but my body forgot to quit bleeding? I am scared.
Avatar f tn that and along with the use of the (bioidentical only) progesterone will affect the thryoid. Menopause and thyroid issues go hand in hand. Geez...is it just the women in the throws of menopause who know all this? Foggy thinking...trouble concentrating. All can be hormonally related....I have tons of stories to share about this from my own experience and that of my friends. I will go and write a message to you now.
Avatar f tn Has the doctor mentioned Lupron? That would put you into menopause and shrink your fibroid. Most likely the bleeding wouldn't come back because you are probably close to menopause. I thought about this myself but I don't have prescription insurance coverage right now and Lupron is very expensive. If your insurance would cover it, it could be a good alternative. My sister in law took it for problematic bleeding and she's ok now, the bleeding stopped.
Avatar f tn Yes I have memory issues and I am missing things people are saying often. My intellectual abilities whatever they were before seem quite diminished. If I could help myself I might stop talking and posting until this is over, but I seem to need to participate even though I sometimes make a fool of myself. My doctor said that it was good that I was still asking questions of him because it means the meds are not destroying my brain function! LOL reassuring huh!
Avatar m tn ve done cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and alcohol. My issue is that I feel like I have memory and cognitive issues due to my past drug use. I have since graduated from college and hold a computer related job. I do well in my job, but can't get over the past drug use and blaming it for my perceived inadequacies. I do brain training programs like mindfit, sudoku, read books, yoga, work out etc. I am literally trying everything I can to try and regain my sharp memory and cognitive skills.
Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
Avatar f tn As I got older, I realized and it was medically documented that many of my problems came from that wreck. The pain distracts me from thinking clearly, I forget things like you and I use the wrong words, and the fear from the accident makes me nervous. You say you hit your head. I suppose you could ask for an MRI so the doctors can look and make sure nothing like a swollen blood vessel or other abnormality from the accident is pressing on your brain, causing your symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
1830047 tn?1321667793 I had similar lapses around the time I got diagnosed with Lyme. One time, I had quite the argument with my husband about where an insurance document had gone. He said he gave it to me, I said he didn't. He let me know later that he found it on the glass of the copier, where I had left it. Yikes. I did not remember that at all during the argument. After he mentioned it, I had a vague memory of making a copy. I have since disavowed responsibility for anything!
Avatar f tn Since my diagnosis of depression, anxiety, and actually long before, I am having memory trouble. I read great books, and then forget about them. Like everything. It is bizarre. I have kind of been this way for my life. I am sure I have been ADHD most of my life undiagnosed. I was hyperactive as a child. Anyone with memory problems?
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
676143 tn?1312941771 So does anyone else have problems with memory lately? I feel like the baby is sucking my brain away. I keep forgetting so many little things. Luckily, it hasn't gotten me in to too much trouble yet - but one of these days I am going to forget something really important!
Avatar f tn After finishing up with surgery, 4 rounds of chemo & 30 rounds of radiation I am now taking Femara. I am wondering if this drug in any way effects the memory, or thought process. I have been having a lot of memory loss and confusion when speaking. It's like I know what I want to say but sometimes can't seem get the correct words out. Any help would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I use to have this problem when I was a teenager and through my twenties, and now with my memory issues and focus problems I just feel sad, and scared to try and find another job. I have always just done receptionist jobs, and they have worked out fine for me; I always find a way to adapt. But now I dont know who would hire me since I have a hard time remembering things. Is this a peri menapausal thing?
Avatar n tn I'm fairly new to hashi's and new to this board. To make this as short as possible, how much of a role exactly does hashi's play in ones inability to lose weight? My endo dr told me that hashi has little to do with it and my menopause was more the cause. My hashi's isn't adversely affecting me except for my weight problems. And no, I am currently not on any thyroid meds. Thanks for any insight you can offer.
Avatar n tn It could very well be. Fibro affects people differently. I would see a neurologist or a rhuematologist i have seen both. I have fibromyalgia amongst other things. But some things that can mimic fibro problems are things like sleep disorders which most people who have them don't realize they do and lyme disease. My biggest issue with fibromyalgia is the constant body pain. I hurt from head to toe. Sometimes its a dull ache feeling sometimes its so bad i can barely walk.
