Avatar m tn I've had memory loss due to vitamin B12 malabsorption, hypothyroidism, and severe stress. Alzheimer's is also called Diabetes Type 3. A book you might want to read is called Brain Grain by David Perlmutter M.D.
Avatar m tn I will be praying for your healing - and for the return of your memory. As GoPens66 mentioned - you're in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress.
Avatar n tn You need a proper assessment and investigation here since there can be many causes for memory loss, headache and dizziness. Most common causes of short term memory and concentration impairment are excessive stress, psychological reason, recent head injury, certain medications, hormonal imbalance and Alzheimer’s disease (if you are in old age). I would recommend you to see a neurologist who can evaluate the details of your case and could better determine the insight of your situation.
Avatar n tn Johns Hopkins researchers who have been at the forefront of this field reviewed the evidence on short-term and long-term mental changes after bypass surgery. They found that short-term confusion, memory loss, and poorer problem solving and information processing are common after bypass surgery, but are usually temporary and reversible. Most people return to their pre-bypass level of function between 3 and 12 weeks after surgery.
Avatar n tn Within the last 4 weeks she has lost most of her short term memory and some of her long term memory. The other day my wife phoned to say hello and was not reconized, (this seems really odd to me as my wife and my sister-in-law are twins and no one can tell them apart when they are on the phone). My sister-in-law has taken her to a psychiatrist, a doctor, and had a CAT scan done. The diagnosis is that it is the onset of a form of dementia and unlikely to improve.
Avatar m tn Sorry Hi, My question really is about memory loss. I am only 24 years and I feel like I am too young to be experiencing this kind of memory loss; I don't know what you want to call it but I just think maybe it's getting worse? I always had a little hard time remembering things but recently I think it has reached a level now where it is impacting me and my surrondings. Less than a week ago, I lost my iphone, (or so I thought) when going at the post office.
Avatar m tn Sleep Deprivation, Depression and stress are the things of which one of them can be responsible for My Memory Loss and Memory Problems. Just want to know if it caused by Neuron cell breakdown or something else for the mentioned reasons.

Avatar n tn Nice post…Many menopausal women complain of memory changes. Moreover, loss of concentration, forgetfulness, memory loss and poor memory retrieval in menopause may be experienced by women in their perimenopause stage too. Memory is the ability to bring information back into one's thoughts while concentration is the ability to focus one's attention or thought to one point successfully.
993488 tn?1249453190 my doctor just told me i had post traumatic stress syndrome, and honestly i'm not sure what that means... why are the "symptoms" of this disorder? Are there any long term issues i should worry about?
Avatar n tn It seems that you are suffering from acute anxiety and excessive stress. It is important to know if this deterioration in memory and concentration started recently or not. Also your age is important. It is difficult to tell if these symptoms are due to neurological disorder like Presenile dementia which cause loss of memory and concentration, decreased judgement, misplacing things, mood swings, confusion and loss of confidence. http://www.jobaccess.gov.
665125 tn?1273023924 I have also experienced various tramatic eventsand losses in my life and it seems like after each tramatic event the after math is more memory loss, and difficulty with speech and spelling etc. This is why I was wondering if PTSD and memory loss etc was related or is it just a con-ink-ee-dink? Does anyone have these other congnitive problems with speech or spelling.... and do your symptoms come and go?
Avatar n tn I am willing to lose some of my memory fro the past in order to better enjoy and plan my future. I consider most memory loss as a cognitive thing and it is definitely a physiological and psychological thing. Bipolar plays a part but it would take me all night to explain why but a lot of it is nature vs nurture.
Avatar n tn I have had periods of migraine headaches followed by black outs, memory loss, and was hospitalized for seizures. I was placed on a seizure med which I had a terrible reaction to. My driver license has been revoked due to an accident - I drove off a bridge. My headaches have become unbearable and I am having problems finding information that links the TGA, seizures, and migraines.
Avatar m tn Although you are in age of 60s and most common memory problems come with this elderly age as an Alzheimer’s disease, it is essential other possibilities of memory loss like hormonal imbalance, stress/depression, and vitamin deficiency need to be evaluated thoroughly. In this disease, normal day to day activities have been affected more than memory loss. Therefore, I would suggest consulting a doctor to rule out other possibilities first with the help of doctor. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Hi there. You have short term memory loss and you are young. The causes for this loss of memory could be many like lack of sleep, hurried up routine, psychogenic memory loss after a stressful and life threatening event, vitamin B1 deficiency, certain drug abuse like PCP, LSD and cocaine. Some prescription drugs can also be the culprit like barbiturates, tricyclic anti depressants etc. brain infections like encephalitis and head trauma are other rare causes.
Avatar m tn The next day when i got in touch with her , she acted as though she has no recollection of what we had in between and she seems to have memory loss on all the places and events that she has been and was with me. She even started calling me by my real name instead of dear or darling how she used to.
Avatar f tn So, stress alone may be responsible for your daughter’s symptoms or she could be having any of the above mentioned problems. It would help to also get her evaluated for subclinical depression, anxiety and stress disorder. ANA level can be high without any cause. This has to be substantiated with abnormal ANA panels for lupus, Sjogren’s and other autoimmune disorder. Yes, autoimmune disorders can affect the brain, but this needs to be ascertained through ANA panel and other tests.
Avatar m tn We all are a bit different and have varying degrees of memory loss. And as holmes pointed out a disturbance in normal thyroid function can also cause memory issues. There are many factors that can play into memory problems. Mine comes more in the form of I can't remember names, ppl names or names of products, things like that. Trying to remember who sang a song I knew by heart some 15 years ago will set me nuts until I remember it.
