meloxicam with ibuprofen

Is it safe to take ibuprofen in the same day as Meloxicam? I take 15 mg of the Meloxicam in the morning for pain but need additional pain relief later in the day and I know that both drugs are NSAID so I don't want to accidentally overdose.

Hi there! I was just prescribed meloxicam 15mg for arthritis along with prilosec for acid reflux. I was wondering if you could tell me if meloxicam would be better for pain relief compared to 800mg ibuprofen. Also does it take time for meloxicam to build up in my body for maximum benefit? If so, how long does it take? Thanks very much!

I also have high blood pressure and take Ibuprofen (which is like meloxicam as its an NSAID), I was told to drink MORE water so that the Ibuprofen doesn't make the blood pressure worse. Its some sort of chemical thing, a pharmacist told me once. Ever since then, my blood pressure has been so much better. Good luck to you.

And my pharmacy Not to take any type of NSAIDS, ie, Advil, or Ibuprofen, with my anti inflammatorys! Definately check with your Dr. And let them know that the Meloxicam isn't always helping! All the best!

Also, the anti-platelet effect of aspirin (which is how it prevents heart attacks) is reduced when taken with daily ibuprofen/naproxen. I hope this helps!

Has anyone heard of Meloxicam helping with w/d from opiates, such lortabs? I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help.

Meloxicam is considered a strong Motrin, but this meloxicam knocked me out for 24 hours. My husband was soon prescribed it and he also hated it. You cannot drive or read, just sleep. Meloxicam is a pain killer, very strong, and doctors are acting like it is just motrin. It is not. It puts you in a coma.

I was told today by my awesome insurance company that they will not cover Celebrex. I have been on meloxicam for many years. I'm on day 25 norco free and working with my pain management doctor on non narcotic relief. I thought this maybe a good choice but the insurance company disagreed. Any opinions on arthritis relief options. I have liver issues and I'm tested every 6 months. I also have stenosis, 2 bulging discs and one that has been detached.

She said I could occasionally take ibuprofen along with Meloxicam if I really felt the need to. I do have some heating pads, so I'll try those as well. Thanks again, everyone!

I have acid reflux disease and esophagus problems as well. Is it safe to take all this Ibuprofen with the stomach problems I have, or should I talk to my Dr. about possibly prescribing another medication? Would it be safer to go back to Meloxicam or try something like Celebrex? Thanks very much!

Hi Abritt, I think it is great to share solutions that work for us. I will research Meloxicam, I do know that Ibuprofen does not work for me even at 800 MG. Also, I have a bad stomach so my doctor wants be to stay off of Ibuprofen. What dose of Lyrica did you try?

Meloxicam is just an NSAID like Ibuprofen or Celebrex. It might help with some aches and pains. The Elavil might help with the depression aspect, but it would take several weeks to kick in. I wouldn't expect much help from either.

Hello Flowr, I understand your hesitancy to take Meloxicam. Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and fever reducer effects. It's often used in Arthritic and inflammatory conditions. However any NSAID comes with concerns - including OTC NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen. Several years ago Glucosamine & Chondroitin was popular with medical providers. It was hailed as the new and one of the best "treatments" for restoring cartilage and reducing pain.

I got on suboxone in February with the expectation that it would help me stay clean by reducing cravings and that general opiate malaise, I'm sure we're all so fond of. I'll put it like this a literally hate taking my subs i always wait until I'm good and sick to dose, just because sub makes me feel so cappy now. Well that waiting opens up other windows, and I've fallen off the wagon a few times in the last 2 months.

My doctor started me on Meloxicam to help remove the swelling in my joints and help with the pain. She knows full well my hx... and I know that Meloxicam is not a narcotic. Does anyone have any thoughts? This really *****..... Thanks!!

I take this with my meloxicam, some ibuprofen, and about 4-6 500mg Tylenol in a the whole day, this has become extremely effective in providing a great deal of pain relief. Hope this information is at all helpful. Had a broken tailbone, at 19 fell 20 ft off a mountain, got hit by a car at 12. I have horrible osteoarthritis along with mild scoliosis, and horrible nerve pain.

I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

I have been suffering with restless legs,headaches predominantly in my forehead and eyes for about 3 and a half months, everyday, I also have had pains and tingling in my legs and arms with burning sensations, dizziness, like a spining in my body and often lose balance and stumble, memory loss and a mental fogginess. At one stage my legs stopped working properly for a couple of days.

Has anyone been to a pain management clinic? My doctor doesn't want me on narcotics long term (and neither do I!) so he's referred me to pain management. I have no idea what to expect. I've taken (without help) gabapentin, meloxicam, ibuprofen, tramadol, lortab (5, 7.5, & 10) and can't take excedrin and tylenol has never worked. I've also had 8 weeks of physical therapy and the chiropractor (not simultaneously) with no relief.

I read your post with interest because I am prescribed Meloxicam. It has not caused me any trouble. As said above, probably the dose changes on the other meds causing trouble.

However if one is allergic to aspirin, meloxicam may be used with caution. If it has been prescribed by your doctor you may take it; otherwise I would suggest avoiding it. Hope this helps. Take care!

But, I suspect that it was, since I was perfectly healthy before starting the Meloxicam (with the exception of minor back pain in the morning associated with osteoarthritis). Also, I made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon after all of my tests came back normal from the Neurologist and Primary Care Physician.
