Has anyone heard of Meloxicam helping with w/d from opiates, such lortabs? I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help.
I was having horrible tooth pain with abcess. Dr. prescribed Meloxicam. No, it doesn`t get you high but it does relieve the pain. It`s nearly impossible nowadays for a doctor to prescribe opiates such as Vicodin, and if they do prescribe it, they only prescribe a few, like 10-20. The Pharmaceutical companies are gradually switching over to these non-addictive drugs. I bet in 10 years, there will be no Vicodin, but I could be wrong.
Is it safe to take ibuprofen in the same day as Meloxicam? I take 15 mg of the Meloxicam in the morning for pain but need additional pain relief later in the day and I know that both drugs are NSAID so I don't want to accidentally overdose.
Hi there! I was just prescribed meloxicam 15mg for arthritis along with prilosec for acid reflux. I was wondering if you could tell me if meloxicam would be better for pain relief compared to 800mg ibuprofen. Also does it take time for meloxicam to build up in my body for maximum benefit? If so, how long does it take? Thanks very much!

And my pharmacy Not to take any type of NSAIDS, ie, Advil, or Ibuprofen, with my anti inflammatorys! Definately check with your Dr. And let them know that the Meloxicam isn't always helping! All the best!
I have severe sciatica and was told to discontinue use of all Acetaminophen, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Aspirin. You gotta be kidding..... I do have meloxicam on hand. Thinking maybe one meloxicam with a dose later in the day of hydrocodone 7.5/500 acet and soma at bedtime Anyone have advice? And I do not know the platelet count. I did ask on a return phone call to the nurse....no reply in 2 days. Can't be too low I don't think, I've never had this happen.

My doctor told me I could take up to two meloxicam a day (7.5 mg each). You should not take ibuprofen on top of meloxicam. You might be able to take a Tylenol; check with your doctor or your pharmacist before combining scripts with over the counter medications.
I have acid reflux disease and esophagus problems as well. Is it safe to take all this Ibuprofen with the stomach problems I have, or should I talk to my Dr. about possibly prescribing another medication? Would it be safer to go back to Meloxicam or ask my Dr. about something like Celebrex instead? Thanks very much!

I has nothing to do with stress or post nasal drip or sinuses. It may have something to do with food allergies and intolerances. Just a guess but that is all I have right now to work with.
This could be a result of one of the medications I'm on, though (Provigil, Meloxicam, ibuprofen, Rhinocort Aqua, Clarinex). My serum calcium was measured by two different labs (a week apart) as 9.6 then 9.3 (max normal value was 10.1 for both labs). I'm not sure if this is worrisome or not, but I'm going to guess that it isn't. Bottom line? Ultrasound wasn't very clear.
and DDD cervical and lumbar pain with radiated inflammation. I have recently had Celebrex 200mg andthe newer Meloxicam (Mobic) to trial and compare. Mobic "seemed" to give more relief in quelling some of the mind invading searring burning in arms, legs, back of skull and face .... along with redness and swelling as inflammation grows ....especially once vertical and walking or typing like this. Do you know anything about the long term risks of daily bd 7.5mg Meloxicam ...
I was prescribe Meloxicam and tynolol with codiene,is this a good combination for severe arthritis?
this is sooooo hard, i was addicted to cocaine in the 80's, and went to treatment, and it was still an easier road than this,,,,,,i know i am addicted to those damn things, but i HATE being in pain, i have tried regular tylenol, even double strength, and i cant take advil because i am on meloxicam, and my doctor told me NOT to take ibuprofen with that, could have renal failure, dont need that,,,,just wish i could get to the neurol surgeon soon, my appointment is not until January!!!
I am allergic to any combination of acetaminophen from three years old so I take ibuprofen. I am suffering from ankylosing spondylitis and sjogren's sydrome. My doctor gave me mobic (meloxicam) to relieve my pain, and I have had no side effects from mobic, and it actually gave me more relief. Is it possible that I am allergic to acetaminophen but have no side effect from mobic? My doctor told me that it is usually impossible so I am confusing.
Also, the anti-platelet effect of aspirin (which is how it prevents heart attacks) is reduced when taken with daily ibuprofen/naproxen. I hope this helps!
I self medicate with Ibuprofen, and sleep on an ice pack every night. In addition, I lay on a baseball and roll over the rhomboid muscle while stretching to break up the spasms for some relief, the ball hits an area that feels like a rope that is in a horizontal position across the rhomboid. Pain radiates from the rhomboid up the right side of my neck, and down my right arm which includes the right shoulder. Headaches are almost constant.
In answering an earlier question of mine, Dr. Murphy previously said he prefers his patients do NOT take a NSAID regularly (Dr. Timothy P Murphy, M.D. Feb 25, 2013 in this Forum - "I try to have my patients take very little daily ibuprofen/naproxen as they can lead to kidney disease (based on total lifetime dose), ...").
She said I could occasionally take ibuprofen along with Meloxicam if I really felt the need to. I do have some heating pads, so I'll try those as well. Thanks again, everyone!
you also get that rib cage feeling with problems with the pancreas also. as for the bruised elbows i wake up with that every am...mine r very sore on the inside. good luck and try another dr for a second opinion..
I have been on meloxicam for many years. I'm on day 25 norco free and working with my pain management doctor on non narcotic relief. I thought this maybe a good choice but the insurance company disagreed. Any opinions on arthritis relief options. I have liver issues and I'm tested every 6 months. I also have stenosis, 2 bulging discs and one that has been detached. I do commercial refrigeration and the arthritis is in my back, knees and hands.
i have been diognosed with an inflamation near spine lower back (pinched nerve) and I also have high blood pressure is there an anti-inflamatory i can take that wont increase my blood pressure?
Meloxicam is just an NSAID like Ibuprofen or Celebrex. It might help with some aches and pains. The Elavil might help with the depression aspect, but it would take several weeks to kick in. I wouldn't expect much help from either.
My doctor started me on Meloxicam to help remove the swelling in my joints and help with the pain. She knows full well my hx... and I know that Meloxicam is not a narcotic. Does anyone have any thoughts? This really *****..... Thanks!!
Some of these include naproxen, meloxicam, aspirin, ibuprofen Other drugs to treat the underlying immune system problem causing the swelling and pain include: placquenil methotrexate enbrel orencia humira rituxan Again, I don't know which of these are available in India, but I would hope that at least placquenil and methotrexate, which have been around for many years, will be available to you. Good luck!
I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Has anyone been to a pain management clinic? My doctor doesn't want me on narcotics long term (and neither do I!) so he's referred me to pain management. I have no idea what to expect. I've taken (without help) gabapentin, meloxicam, ibuprofen, tramadol, lortab (5, 7.5, & 10) and can't take excedrin and tylenol has never worked. I've also had 8 weeks of physical therapy and the chiropractor (not simultaneously) with no relief.
