Avatar n tn I'm a little confused as to why you have stiffness if you don't have arthritis -- any ideas? Perhaps they said you don't have rheumatoid arthritis. At any rate, there are so many remedies for joint inflammation -- MSM, chondroiton and glucosamine sulfate, proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain, quercitin, vitamin C, ginger, turmeric, boswellia, devil's claw, yucca -- I mean, the list is very long.
Avatar f tn d seen a rheumatology for a proper diagnosis. Are you talking about osteo-arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis? They are two very different animals.
Avatar n tn The disease resembles rheumatoid arthritis but does not produce the antibodies characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis. It can be difficult to find a successful treatment. Your physician may believe that you have nerve involvement, possibly from some degeneration of a joint causing nerve entrapment or inflammation. A Neurologist specializes in the treatment of nerves, their function and disorders that effect them.
Avatar n tn does rheumatoid arthritis typically develop quickly? I've had aches and pain in past years but nothing that kept me from functioning. These past two weeks I have had so much trouble walking and when I do walk, my gait is weird and I feel so unsteady.

Having rheumatoid arthritis can be considered as a risk factor for fibromyalgia. A lack of vitamin D is associated with higher risk of rheumatoid arthritis. A correct intake of vitamin D, along with calcium is very important in protecting the health of our bones. Low vitamin D may lead to early progression of the disease. You need to see a specialist.
Avatar f tn my arthritis pain has been in my larger joints for a few years now but within the last 8 months it has gotten to the point that i cant even braid my hair some days because my hands hurt so bad. i have been on meloxicam for about six months and i take vitamins regularly. since i have been on the meloxicam my bursitis(which i have delt with for fifteen years and no meds) flared up and has not subsided, my body still aches daily and i take vicodin at night so i can sleep which does help.
Avatar n tn I also take meloxicam, and tylenol is about the only thing that I know of that can be taken in conjunction with it. You still need to be careful not to take more than the prescribed dosages, though. I believe there were studies done recently that showed too many people take over the counter tylenol, believing it's safe - too much of it is hard on the liver. Most people really only need one regular strength tylenol, not two extra strength. Anyway, that got a little off topic.
Avatar m tn Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..
Avatar f tn It is used to treat the pain from rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. Do you have either of these conditions? If not, and if your pain levels are manageable, you may ask your dr about discontinuing this drug. Atorvastatin is a statin drug used to reduce cholesterol. Side effect of this drug can be muscle pains and diabetes, among other serious effects. This drug is controversial and the benefits are questionable, particularly among women and people who have never had a heart attack.
Avatar f tn My 7 year old has been diagnosed with Polyarticular Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis since she was age 4. She has been on several medications to treat the symptoms. Currently she is taking 12.5 mg Methotrexate, 12.5 mg injections of Enbrel twice weekly and 7.5 mg of Meloxicam. She has been having temps of 99-101 for the last year and a half and thigh pain for 3 years. All the doctors conclude that this all may be her arthritis. I don't believe that.

Avatar n tn My father was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis shortly after WWII. He developed it shortly after being shipped back from England in a coma with a very high temperature. About a year before he died, he developed unusual symptoms- loss of taste, areas of de-pigmentation etc.
6757907 tn?1385102265 Hey guys - my mom is 55 and has rheumatoid arthritis, and wants to apply for SSI (disability). She has terrible pains and her hands have become crippled. Do you think this will qualify her for it? She can barely lift up her arms; she's worked in care-giving and now it's impossible to do simple chores/duties.
Avatar m tn //www.assh.org/handcare/condition/rheumatoid-arthritis See your doctor. They will examine your hands. Then take X rays and if they suspect RA, do blood work to confirm. It's treatable. So either way, you should see your doctor. Do Nsaids help at all?

Avatar f tn In the absense of a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (the autoimmune kind), what you're seeing is probably osteoarthritis (the wear and tear kind). Rheumatoid arthritis can lead to osteoarthritic changes, but OA does not mean you have RA. RA and OA are two completely different conditions, but many symptoms of both cross over so it's easy to confuse the two.
Avatar m tn Hi! Generally a high ANA titre indicates an autoimmune disease (SLE, Sjögren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune hepatitis, scleroderma, polymyositis, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, dermatomyositis, primary biliary cirrhosis, Addison disease, Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, and type 1 diabetes mellitus). Mixed connective tissue disorders also cause a high ANA. What is important is the pattern of ANA staining: homogenous, speckled, or nucleolar.
