Each time that I have been treated with antibiotics, I have ended up with yeast infections of the penis/glans/foreskin, bowel and oral trush. Yeast can be very difficult to get under control. In a case of yeast in the genitals, over the counter products like Monistat and canesten work well and you will begin to notice a difference after about one week. For the bowel, you need to eat a lot of yhogurt, as well as acidohilis. You might even need to get prescription from a doctor.
You are taking antibiotics - and macrobid is a strong one - and have been for several days, so even though you are on diflucan, it's going to be tough to balance out the good and bad stuff in the vagina that keeps it all healthy.
When they are testing you for yeast, are they also testing you for bacterial vaginitis? The white discharge sounds like yeast, but you should also rule out BV.
This could be herpes, but without testing, it's hard to know.
Hi.. has anyone else taken macrobid for uti?? Is it normal to feel horribly sick with it? How did you all deal with the nausea? My doc gave me reglan but it doesn't seem to be helping and I'm hardly half way with macrobid.. I've been non functional while taking it and it's getting worse every day.
Any advise on dealing with it will be appreciated..
I went to the emergency room and the doctor checked my vagina and took a swab and said it looks like a yeast infection but It also looks like genital warts. I was shocked! I have had all my hpv shots and i dont know how i would get them my boyfriend of two years doesnt have them. Before i get my period i will sometimes get tiny papercut like cuts on the inside of my vagina lips. My vagina will also get really dry and my wax lady has told me twice that my vaginal skin is really thin.

Well last week I got another bladder infection, and had a prescription for macrobid so I completed the course, and subsequently came down with a yeast infection. Treated that, and now I have my monthly outbreak, except I woke up with the bladder issues yesterday, I'm afraid of taking antibiotics, and I don't have insurance. My question is can HSV2 cause bladder, UTI issues? Is it just coincidence it's around the same time as my outbreak?
yes I have been to the doctor and told that they are UTI's...and my husband has good hygiene so I don't think that's the problem...perhaps I am just more prone to getting them! And I'm not familiar with a macrobid...what is that?
But then two days after finishing the antibiotics, the symptoms came back and I had abdominal pain and kidney pain. I went back to the walk in clinic and was put on Macrobid for five days. After five days however, none of my symptoms seemed to be gone. I went to immediate care and they gave me another five days of Macrobid. I finally started feeling better by the 7th day on Macrobid.
I took about two weeks to get rid of the UTI, and then I felt fine for about another two weeks.
Hi, you may have already checked into this, but I remember something similar when I had recurrent yeast infections, which were caused by the treatments for my recurrent bladder (UTI) infections. Miserable feeling!!! I know now that antibiotics do that to me, so when I have to take them, I also get an Rx for Diflucan, an oral medication for the yeast infection (creams are just yucky, and even after repeated uses, wouldn't clear it up for me).
So anyway she went to the doctor and they said she had a uti, and gave her macrobid. She said they were also doing a urine culture, but its been two weeks and she has not mentioned any results.. Well in less than 48 hours of being on macrobid she said all her symptoms were gone.. MY question is.. Could her bladder infection have been caused by an std (chlamydia, gonorrhea), and if it was would the macrobid have gotten rid of her symptoms or cured it?
Hi ! With CFS, I used to get numerous infections (sinus, URI's, yeast and bladder infections). I was undiagnosed at the time and so I was being treated with antibiotics and then eventually I found out how to get rid of some of these infections without prescription medications. It looks like you are doing the same and being pro-active when it comes to your health. What helped me with bladder infections was drinking lots of water and cranberry juice.
I took my course of macrobid 3 weeks ago and all is well . Im wondering if those cases u saw were in the first trimester. Im sure our Ob doctors wouldn't give us unsafe meds knowing we are pregnant.
So, right now I am being treated with Macrobid for a bladder infection, Valtrex for possible HSV, and a cream yeast infection treatment. I was given a hospital-grade topical ointment containing lidocain for the burn. The doctor said that regardless of what the problem is, it should be gone in a few days. I am very unhappy with this conclusion, as I want to know for sure if I have HSV or not, obviously.
I have taken Cipro for Urniary Tract Infections on and off for about 7 years. Last year the frequency of infections was about every 2 months. This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort.
Has anyone had multiple yeast/BV infections? I've had 3 so far and I think I'm having another! I'm going to ob tomorrow and I'm sure I'll get some meds. It's frustrating. Anyone Else?!?! Please help.

I have suffered from recurrent uti's for about two years. I am female, 30 years old. Primary symptom will be a burning when I urinate and back pain. I have been tested many times at the doctor, I think at least 5 times for trichomonias- mostly with the doctor looking under the microscope and once about 3 weeks ago with a DNA test. Also have been tested for gonherrea and chlymadia many times both with the urine test and pelvic swab.
The antibiotics in the penicillin family can cause vaginal yeast infections and diarrhea in women by affecting the normal vaginal and colon bacteria. The better drug would be macrodantin 100mg at night if your cultures are sensitive to it. Long term cipro is also not good because it will cause antibiotic resistent bacteria to eventually grow. Since you are structurally normal and there is no obvious focus of infection long term antibiotic suppression may be your only answer.

I've heard you can take monistat for a yeast infection. But I would talk to your doctor first. Treatment for a yeast is different than bacterial, and you should make sure you don't have any other complications before starting something.

How do we differientate between std,a real uti,a real yeast infect.?
