When I went through vicodin withdrawal I upped the dosage to 10mg, which was my script max. I have had withdrawal symptoms galore. I got body jerks, metallic taste, no memory, disorientation, depression, anxiety, difficulty swallowing, breathing difficulty, panic attacks, vertigo, high to low BP... on and on. My dreams were vivid. The very slow taper and OTC drugs helped with the insomnia. Are you back on Lunesta?
I never took anymore than this in a day (usually 20mg at night), and decided to quit cold turkey. I am a personal trainer and just did not want to be a slave to opiates. I had the normal withdrawal symptoms (nausea, lightheadedness, heart racing, flu-like symptoms, etc.)
Now this is where it get strange.
Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You.

I have been on 80 mg. Of oxy for a year now n quit cold turkey Friday night. I had no idea what I was in for. The muscle spasms , migriane followed by vomiting. Can't sleep so tried. Final call some local abuse hotline. They were closed for mlk. Call my doc. On 4th day gave Xanax for a week and lunesta at night is this a bad idea? My wife.
I want to taper off xanax. Would it be safe to take half a 1 mg. xanax with 2 mg Lunesta or would I then become dependent on the Lunesta also?
withdrawal is caused by the brain trying to go back to working without drugs, as they alter the natural way the body processes these neurotransmitters. Sometimes the brain can do this, sometimes not. Sometimes prolonged use of benzos interferes permanently with the ability of the brain to adapt to stress, sometimes temporarily, sometimes not at all depending on the person.
It probably depends entirely on why you are getting it. Some things, like withdrawal of hormones during menopause, can be treated, others might not be so treatable. You should check with the appropriate doctor based on why you're getting the problem.

looking for non script sleep aid for first week of vicodin withdrawal. my experience has been inability to sleep, frustration and lots of sighing and leg movement. within a week i am ok.
ve tried it Rozerem is one alternative that unlike Ambien or the medication you mentioned or Lunesta does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it and is an FDA approved medication that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
At the same time, fatigue is a huge part of withdrawal. Its usually the symptom that lasts the longest. Could be that too.
They say its non addictive but LIARs Liars, pants on fires. I have heard of horrific withdrawal stories from it. Lunesta gave me the metalic taste as does Ambien. Also makes my gums inside my cheeks sore and jaw pain. Had to get off of both. Lyrica makes me sleep all night and half the morning so, Im not taking it anymore. Not a good drug for sleeping if that's what your looking for. Has addictive qualities.
I had an allergic reaction to ambien so I can not personally reccomend it. However I loved my lunesta, it worked very fast. Now, just like with pain pills when you take sleeping pills be prepared to go to sleep. They are aiding you not making you go to sleep. It is not anesthesia so don't expect it to work as such.
I no longer can afford the lunesta I go to my local VA for my medications and they don't carry lunesta.

As of last week (maybe two weeks ago), I had reduced my Klonopin intake from 3 MG/day to 1.5 MG/day.
Have taken two at bedtime, along with Lunesta and sometime phenergan for nausea. I never take anything during the day. Have been tapering off for four days. The worst time has been at night....really restless and cannot sleep. I have been having lots of dreams....which I cannot remember the last time I remember ever dreaming...is this related to tapering off hydrocodone? These four days have been difficult; however am wondering if the worse is yet to come?
The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
