Avatar m tn The interesting thing is the symptoms of Low T in women virtually match identically the low thyroid symptom list. So the difficulty is to convince the Dr. that her lasting symptoms may be low T and not Hypo thyroid is a touch argument to make. And there is no gurantee that it is not BOTH. All I know is that the tests show she is BELOW range. As you can see above they won't even list the amount. It simply says less than 0.20 which is the botom of the range.

Many women with PCOS also have an elevated prolactin level, and since you have thyroid issues, I would certainly want to check your level if you were my patient. One of the best medications for treating PCOS is oral contraceptives--these cause the body to produce a protein called sex hormone binding globulin which binds up and inactivates excess testosterone.
8101930 tn?1420001456 Yeah my sister had low thyroid when she was pregnant too so I guess it runs in the family. They Say I can go off the meds couple months after I give birth if my thyroid is good so that makes me feel better too. It just got super crazy low from the pregnancy. . Babies do take lots from us though.
Avatar f tn TSH is Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. This number changes in inverse to the amount of Thyroid hormone in your system, so a low TSH level would mean that you have increased levels of Thyroid Hormone. TSH has a pretty broad range, so it is best if you have a history of blood levels so that you can see what has been normal for you in the past. A lower TSH could be normal for you. I am not a Dr.

Avatar f tn This is often an indication of an underactive thyroid, a condition that is extremely common in women in our age bracket. I'm going to have administration transfer this post over to the Thyroid Forum, the CL there will guide you well.
Avatar f tn but every time the thyroid tests came back normal. To make a long story short, the low thyroid finally did show up in testing. I have read since that time that the test to ask for is T3 RIA...it may show "hidden" thyroid problems. I wish I had known! Best of luck to you...doctors need to LISTEN to us!
314532 tn?1206415109 The only test you had for Free T3 was too low in the range. Many members say that symptom relief required Free T3 in the upper third of its range and Free T4 around the middle of its range. A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypo patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T3 and Free T4 as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.
Avatar f tn Can a low ferritin (14) but normal haemoglobin cause symptoms, thyroid or non thyroid related?
Avatar f tn A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc. and even more in women than men, so the only true way to know if you had abnormally low levels would have been to test you a lot, not just twice. You did have the same levels twice, so it might be a problem. A question would be, how's your sexual desire? How's your stamina? How's your ability to build muscle? How's your energy levels?
Avatar n tn be related to over-production of testosterone or DHEA, which is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that leads to the production of androgens and estrogens in, both men and women. Too much DHEA in women can cause symptoms such as oily skin, increased unnatural hair growth, a deep voice, irregular periods, smaller breast size, and increased genital size.
Avatar f tn Because of their extreme intraindividual variability, FSH and estradiol levels are imperfect diagnostic indicators of perimenopause in menstruating women. However, a low FSH in the early follicular phase (days 2–5) of the menstrual cycle is inconsistent with a diagnosis of perimenopause.
Avatar m tn She did the thyroid test because I was having migraines and she thought it could be due to that. About the low MCV test...she said it was normal in women for it to be low.
727499 tn?1239627655 But Really started to decline about two years ago. Strong history of Thyroid disease in my family, but my tsh levels are o.k. Can low prolactin alone indicate a pit tumor? Does it suggest any other conditions? Fever of Unknown Origin since July 45 lb weight loss (105 lbs.
Avatar n tn A slightly low TSH is commonly seen in the first trimester -- even in women not on thyroid medication. The research suggests that mild hyperthyroidism (ie low TSH) does not have an adverse effect on the baby, whereas mild hypothyroidism (not enought thyroid hormone) can result in problems. So in most cases, with the situation you describe, we do not make any change but follow the TSH and T4 levels every 4-6 weeks through pregnancy to make sure the medication dose is in the appropriate range.
Avatar f tn Hyperthyroidism can cause high IGF-1 (stable measurement of growth hormone) particularly in women, so perhaps hypo can cause low GH. Thyroid removal should not cause a GH problem. The TSH fluctuation is odd -- have not seen 0.05 to 34.6 in one week -- would double check that -- keeping the thyroid levels stable may help normalize the GH levels. Also ask your endocrinologist to see if other pituitary hormones may be abnormal.
Avatar n tn low ferritin causes confirm loss of hair in women .......the range of normal is rediculous .....for women .......at /or below 30 you will feel the symptoms and your H and Hg can still be normal and your serum ferritin that low .......and there is research in other countries that show low serum ferritin causes depression ....ADHD .......and low thyroid problems ....heart palpitations and shortness of breath ..especially with exercise !!! .....
Avatar m tn You should have sex during ovulation days. Maintain a healthy lifestyle. You should take a balanced and nutritious diet rich in all these vitamins and minerals. Exercise daily and reduce weight if you are overweight. Get a prenatal checkup done and ask your doctor about prenatal vitamins like folic acid. Stay away from stress and exercise daily. If you are still unable to conceive contact your doctor. In that case you and your husband both may need evaluation .
Avatar f tn , menstrual irregularity, Dry skin and brittle hair, brain fog and inability to concentrate. All of these are also consistent with low thyroid. And your very low in range FT4 level also points to low thyroid. As Gimel stated the fact that your TSH is low I would agree points to central hypothyroidism. Joint pain is also associated with low thyroid, and for MEN, joint pain can be due to low estrogen. But I do not see that as a common symptom for low estrogen in women.
