Avatar f tn Has anyone left their job on short term and then long term disability for syringomelia? I am finding it hard to work with all the pain and spasticity. My nuerologist recommended I do this and said he would support me. I am not sure if this condition qualifies since it is so rare. It qualifies on federal disability but it seems I would make too much from the LTD 60% pay to qualify in Georgia. Anyone has some experience in this?
Avatar m tn t tell many, although I guess I guess Iam now, but my medical condition is epilepsy, had right temporal lobectomy at 17 which means they removed the right temporal lobe of my brain. Did me no harm except that my short term memory is very bad. I worked as a produce manager for Kroger and when management would come to me with 4 or 5 special projects they wanted done that day on top of the normal work I had to, I would remember 2 or 3. The next day they would come in and be all up in my...
Avatar m tn t always a reason people have seizures - does this mean it could be epilepsy? I now have short term memory loss and am in my final 30-day PIP plan for poor performance at my job due to my memory loss. I fear I'll lose any job I obtain because of my medical condition. Does the short term memory loss return after being on medication?
Avatar f tn I received short term then long term disability through my employeer...or a little over 2 years during my therapy. It kicked my butt so badly i could not work...( i could literally do nothing for 48 wk round then 20wk round). It was not easy... a lot of paper work and phone calls but did eventually pay off. I understand how you feel... Hope everything works out for you.
Avatar f tn Anyone out there on a long term disability for Chiari? I'm not able to work right now. I've been out since Nov. 2010 on a temp dis. I freelance work here and there for 2-3 hours but can't work consistently. I'm a very reliable, predictable person by nature, but since my symptoms have been getting worse, I've been becoming more increasingly unreliable & unpredictable. I'm very down about my situation. I miss work and being independent.
Avatar m tn I ask because I have a lot and it seems that nobody other than people who took the awful drug combo are doing anything to help. Has anybody been able to get disability due to the long term effects of treatment? I have been denied and am done with all appeals without any luck.
Avatar n tn Just be aware to ask how long your short term disability will last. I know someone who only gets 6 weeks paid-period. Then they can file FMLA, but there is no pay for that.
406412 tn?1217438384 I survived sudden cardiac death though I am not so confident of surviving the upcoming battle for my long term disability benefits. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with any heart patient who has navigated the treacherous waters of disability insurance companies. I have had some really fantastic doctors who have helped me heal my heart and get back on my feet but unfortunately I have no-one to assist or advise me through the torcherous process of trying to claim my rightful benefits.
Avatar m tn Hi , I really don't know since I'm getting ready to file myself. My primary care Dr. told me that she would handle it, to just give them her name . She didn't see a problem. My job has short term (3 months) and long term after that. Once you go to long term they want you to file for ssdi even if you don't qualify they want you to file. My long term is indefinite, but pays a lesser amount once you get ssdi.

Below any such thread as I provided will be other threads of like topics. If your doctor is not aware of this it indicates to me he may not be a good advocate.
980756 tn?1313445908 question is has anyone used their short or long term disability from work and what is the protocol you need to get it approved? doctors letter?
Avatar f tn ve seen recommendations to get private long-term care/disability insurance if you suspect you have the disease, but are not dx yet. What is this process like? I can't in good concience lie, but currently my only (relevant) dx is complicated migraine (I also have celiac disease but am on a GF diet). Part of me is having a really hard time even thinking about getting long-term care insurance because I can't stand the thought of being disabled (who can?
Avatar f tn Ambien absolutely can cause memory loss, more commonly short-term issues, but also some people have reported problems with their long term memory as well. The good news is...if other causes have been ruled out, and Ambien seems to be the culprit, the memory issues will resolve most times after the Ambien is safely tapered.
Avatar f tn Im on bedrest for medical reasons and can not get paid leave or short term disability I've tried. They told me it had to be long term which doesnt make sense bc my dr says im unable to work.
Avatar f tn Drug studies are only 4 to 8 weeks long I doub't there have ever been any long term (more than a year) studies on the long term use of gabapentin. For any one who is having trouble tapering off of gabapentin a magnesium supplement is very effective in reducing the severity of the withdrawal from gabapentin.
611067 tn?1458591483 I've been in so much pain lately, depressed, crying a lot and just so fatigued I can hardly function. I suppose I'm having a flare-up. I saw my doctor this past Saturday and we discussed me taking some time off work to alleviate stress and give myself time to rest. I do have short-term disability available (and also, long-term disability) and she wants to put me out on it. I'm terrified of losing my job. Does anyone have experience with how this works!
Avatar f tn I'm 27 weeks pregnant and work at a daycare with some pretty violent children.. I've been hot and kicked in the stomach multiple times and had to leave... Not only is it dangerous but my back is killing me all day and it's just getting to be way too much for me, the stress is bringing me anxiety and panic attacks... I see my doctor tomorrow so I'm hoping he will pull me from work, but to get paid I need to be on short term disability.. Does anyone know anything about this?
Avatar n tn Sadly there is little research about long term side effects to interferon treatment. It certainly is possible that his issues could be related to his three treatments. You could try sending a private message to rambleon one of our members interested in this issue.
Avatar f tn No, but your doctor would have to put you on medical leave in order for that to work and most doctors won't unless there is a medical reason that affects your baby.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the long term effects of abusing pain killers? I found out today that a friend of my husbands actually had seizures because of how long she was on vicodin. Just curious.
Avatar f tn That's a big dose. I'm not sure of long term memory effects.
963268 tn?1312900315 I have a friend with MS I've known since I was a kid...too many years ago. She's been in a wheel chair for 15 years and has no cognitive problems...My memory is getting worse. I think I'd rather be in the wheel chair.
967680 tn?1255040743 I have been taking peg + rib for about 8 weeks. My side effects have been brutal. Going to work each day hag gotten more and more difficult. The vomiting and fatigue has taken its toll. 2 weeks ago my MD told me I was severly anemic, he cut back on the rib. That didn't work as planned. Now i'm on the perscription Procrit. This helped but I was still am so fatigued I couldn't make it through the day without napping at my desk. I ended up leaving my job.
Avatar f tn Hi we did have another member ask about Therapy for this as so many of us do have cognitive issues as well as word finding and memory...I find my short term memory is what is more affected.... Here is a link to an older thread and see if u can PM Martha to find out how this worked for her. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn How long term? 6 months to a year is not that long to be on it, but if you are thinking like 5 to 10 years is more longer term. It is all definitely possible if it is needed, some times a drug will lose its ability to work after a while so has to be changed with another but I think if it works now then that's great and don't worry about the future to much, what will happen will happen. Sorry don't know about the memory and side effects long term.
Avatar f tn Since then I had a small issue with short term memory but over the last 6 months or so it has gotten worse. The seizure was about ten years ago and I'm now 37 years old. No drugs, I don't drink or smoke, a great job helping combat veterans readjust to civilian life for the government (VA), and a BS in Finance. But, this short term memory loss worries me. It just about leveled off and is consistent. I can't remember what I was doing a couple minutes ago if it was a small thing.
