Has anyone left their job on short term and then long term disability for syringomelia? I am finding it hard to work with all the pain and spasticity. My nuerologist recommended I do this and said he would support me. I am not sure if this condition qualifies since it is so rare. It qualifies on federal disability but it seems I would make too much from the LTD 60% pay to qualify in Georgia. Anyone has some experience in this?

I received short term then long term disability through my employeer...or a little over 2 years during my therapy. It kicked my butt so badly i could not work...( i could literally do nothing for 48 wk round then 20wk round). It was not easy... a lot of paper work and phone calls but did eventually pay off. I understand how you feel... Hope everything works out for you.
Anyone out there on a long term disability for Chiari? I'm not able to work right now. I've been out since Nov. 2010 on a temp dis. I freelance work here and there for 2-3 hours but can't work consistently. I'm a very reliable, predictable person by nature, but since my symptoms have been getting worse, I've been becoming more increasingly unreliable & unpredictable. I'm very down about my situation. I miss work and being independent.
I ask because I have a lot and it seems that nobody other than people who took the awful drug combo are doing anything to help. Has anybody been able to get disability due to the long term effects of treatment? I have been denied and am done with all appeals without any luck.
Just be aware to ask how long your short term disability will last. I know someone who only gets 6 weeks paid-period. Then they can file FMLA, but there is no pay for that.
Hi , I really don't know since I'm getting ready to file myself. My primary care Dr. told me that she would handle it, to just give them her name . She didn't see a problem. My job has short term (3 months) and long term after that. Once you go to long term they want you to file for ssdi even if you don't qualify they want you to file. My long term is indefinite, but pays a lesser amount once you get ssdi.

Ambien absolutely can cause memory loss, more commonly short-term issues, but also some people have reported problems with their long term memory as well. The good news is...if other causes have been ruled out, and Ambien seems to be the culprit, the memory issues will resolve most times after the Ambien is safely tapered.

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and work at a daycare with some pretty violent children.. I've been hot and kicked in the stomach multiple times and had to leave... Not only is it dangerous but my back is killing me all day and it's just getting to be way too much for me, the stress is bringing me anxiety and panic attacks... No, but your doctor would have to put you on medical leave in order for that to work and most doctors won't unless there is a medical reason that affects your baby.
That's a big dose. I'm not sure of long term memory effects.
Hi we did have another member ask about Therapy for this as so many of us do have cognitive issues as well as word finding and memory...I find my short term memory is what is more affected....

How long term? 6 months to a year is not that long to be on it, but if you are thinking like 5 to 10 years is more longer term. It is all definitely possible if it is needed, some times a drug will lose its ability to work after a while so has to be changed with another but I think if it works now then that's great and don't worry about the future to much, what will happen will happen. Sorry don't know about the memory and side effects long term.
Since then I had a small issue with short term memory but over the last 6 months or so it has gotten worse. The seizure was about ten years ago and I'm now 37 years old. No drugs, I don't drink or smoke, a great job helping combat veterans readjust to civilian life for the government (VA), and a BS in Finance. But, this short term memory loss worries me. It just about leveled off and is consistent. I can't remember what I was doing a couple minutes ago if it was a small thing.
