An hour later it did. I've had memories I couldn't access, but hours later I remembered what it was I was trying to think of. Like those dinner rolls!
Avatar n tn Try to give him possible answers in a multiple choice format, so that he does not have to formulate the answer and uses his recognition memory versus recall. This way you can isolate the skills that you want to practice and help your son experience success with it, so that he feels more confident about this activity. However, if language is delayed or verbal reasoning is low, you need to tackle these skills.

Avatar m tn Any drug that affects brain neurotransmitters can have unusual consequences, but this is probably a very rare side effect if it exists. Antidepressants do, however, and this is unknown to most users and doctors, usually affect choline receptors, and choline is very important to normal brain function including cognitive ability. Paxil is the strongest of all of them, I think, in its affinity for choline receptors.
Avatar f tn But as another person mentioned on here, NO WHERE, or NO ONE states that it has a long-term affect on your memory to the point that I have cried and cried because I feel like I have early stages of Alzheimer's, and I am only 46. I think we (I) need to speak to a Personal Injury Attorney, because this meds need to be removed from the shelf. They are dangerous. Avatar f tn t have a great long term memory to begin with but this is like forgetting that I talked to my mom two days ago for over an hour. I usually don't forget things like that. Avatar f tn I have lesions in my frontal lobe. It affected my short term memory, my recognition of faces, my problem-solving abilities, and my language skills. What I would do is (if you can afford it) to get a neuro-psych exam. This will help you pinpoint problem areas. After my neuro-psych exam, my psychiatrist recommended Aricept, which is usually given to Alzheimer's patients. There's some debate about how effective it is for MS patients.

Sorry don't know about the memory and side effects long term.
Avatar f tn Yes! My short term memory has become so bad on Geodon that I'll leave things sitting out at work in public where I shouldn't leave it. Avatar f tn Although I have no problem remembering facts and figures and my short term memory is better than most, I have no long term memory of events. I know it's normal not to remember childhood, but I don't remember high school or college or anything I did there. In fact, my oldest memory is looking outside and seeing chairs on the lawn at my mom's birthday. That was two weeks ago and there only seems to be a vague, blank space before it. Memories just fade after a few weeks.
