Lisinopril for anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Lisinopril for anxiety

monopril

My doctor prescribed 20 MG Lisinopril for my blood pressure and after about 3 weeks, my pessure was down to 97/79; I was out of breath, light headed, rapid heartrate (90-104) and could no longer work with my trainer at the gym. When prescribed, he said once the pressure was at 100/90, to cut the pill in half - which I did when I was at 97/79.
I asked doctor to please change the medication but he refuses, and he thinks it's the anxiety attack that's the cause for all this. What should I do? Is Lisinopril/Atenolol a proven combination to help hypertension? Thanks.
Looking for good new...found out I am pregnant and am taking Lisinopril 10mg. Does anyone have any experience with this?
220lbs with borderline HTN which my PCP said to be a combination of being overweight and anxiety, I was placed on lisinopril 5mg 1x daily and xanax 0.25mg 3x daily, until I lose 20lbs. the 5mg of lisinopril helped with the BP, but 3 days into taking the Medication I started getting muscle aches. I went to my PCP and he said it was not likely lisinopril so he gave me flexeril for the muscle aches.

Hi, thank you for using the forum. I will do my best to answer your question based on the information that you have given me. I am going to assume that you had a cardiac work up by you primary care physician and that everything came out negative since none of the diagnosis that you received were cardiac in nature. However, if you feel you did not receive a complete physical exam and evaluation then a second opinion would be reasonable.
I hate that feeling as I like you worry about heart issues and dying. The zoloft is for general anxiety and today is day 4 and am starting to feel a bit better, just a touch of anxiety this morning from it. The toprol xl is 25mg...can I start out w/ 12.5 mg (splitting pill) to make sure it doesn't lower my bp and heartrate too much?
I had been on Atenolol 100mg bid for my blood pressure and It was not lowering it enough so my doctor added Lisinopril. I went up to 20 mg on the Lisinopril with the Atenolol, still not lowering it enough. He then changed me to Metoprolol 100 mg bid and Lisinopril 20 mg daily. Since the change (3 weeks ago) I have noticed an increase in my anxiety levels. Anxious all the time and having panic attacks. What's happening to me.
As far as the anxiety goes, antidepressants never worked for anxiety for me, just for the depression, so I can understand why he is on the alprazolam. Definitely think he needs a therapist as well.
We believe that his numerous symptoms lead to his feelings of anxiety instead of his anxiety leading to his symptoms since his symptoms are always there. We are especially concerned about his feelings of lightheadedness which lead him to feel as if he is going to pass out, and his shortness of breath. Wondering if anyone has a similar combination of the numerous signs/symptoms? We are appreciative of any feedback/stories/ideas.
Throughout all of this, have you sought help for your anxiety? Have you talked it over with a therapist? If your doctors are not concerned, then in my opinion, you should trust them. Why not go see a psychologist or a counselor that specializes in anxiety? Quite often, a little knowledge about this can go a long way in confronting it in my experience.
im 39 started having anxiety at 21 then had agraphobia for 4 years that passed but ive always has anxiety, i could control this up until last week, i was ill with the flu was sooooo dizzy so now i think im goin to pass out. Have found that having the actual test (with me, a simple blood oxymeter) relieved much of the anxiety - no I wasn't going to die in my sleep! It all boiled down to recognizing the anxiety, and mentally explaining it away (in my case, although blood oxygen levels dipped, it wasn't dangerous), I'd encourage you do do whatever eases your mind - sleep upright on the couch if that does it. I'm sure the sleep study - regardless of the results - will ease it even further....
this is just a comment. I have been treated for depression and anxiety since 1996. I take Effexor XR 75mg and Remeron 30 mg. I have been on this combination for 6+ years and doing pretty well with them. In May 2008 I was started on Toprol XL 25 mg. It worked for my blood pressure and lowered it but it also made my depression worse and I finally went to my doctor to get off of them. I am now weaning off of the Toprol XL. I am on the second day of 12.
Lisinopril is an ace inhibitor for treatment of high blood pressure or CHF. 10mg is a low dose of this medication. This medication also brings down pressure in the kidneys, lungs, eyes. My husband has blood pressure as high as yours and sometimes higher. He is being treated with a water pill which brings down the blood pressure. He is taking hydrocholorothyazide, which is working well bringing pressure down to 120/74.
) Lorazepam 1mg (anxiety) 2.) Lisinopril 10mg (blood pressure) 3.) Paroxetine(paxil) 40mg (anxiety/depression) 4.
50 is too much for you. My understanding is that .50 mg twice a day is ideal for anxiety and panic disorder. Also, until you reach a steady state at two weeks, you will probably feel a little tired. It ususally goes away after two weeks. It saved my life is all I can say.

Hi I have had panic attacks/anxiety for about 6 months now and in the past month they have gotten extremely worse. When i read your thing it felt like i was reading something i wrote.. i too am 20 yrs old and i weigh about 105. I lost weight due to the anxiety. I have been in and out of the doctor now for a month and like you , everything is normal. My symptoms feel like something is seriously wrong though and i also thought i had cancer, diabetes and everything else in the world!
I have been using 10 mg of Lisinopril and 5 mg of Bystolic for about a month. I now find myself not being able to sleep and much anxiety. I wasn't this way before the meds. I stopped Lisinopril on Tuesday (Dr said OK) and Bystolic two days ago and anxiety even worse. Only way I can get to sleep is drink myself to relax and then I only sleep for two hours. Is this a case of the Lisinopril giving me anxiety when I used it and the Bystolic now because I am not?
Hi, I'm a 29 year old male, I have been suffering from anxiety for about a year, had the usual symptoms, racing heart, feeling like I going to die, chest pains, etc... Lately I've been having a numbness feeling on the left side of my face and also on my left forearm and hand. I'm so scared I'm going to die, I keep worrying that I'm gonna have a stroke or have MS or something. I'm tired of going to the doctor and was just curious if anybody else has felt this way.
However, I still experience the pins and needles even though I am on antidepressant Celexa 60mg. I also take Lisinopril 20mg (for high blood pressure). Note that I started with Celexa after the pins and needles started. Could this be an autoimmune disease? I'm thinking that if it was related to anxiety over HIV shouldn't be gone now where I have been told that I don't have it?
In my own case, I was able to beat down anxiety by forcing myself to ignore the heartbeat, in particular, avoiding measuring my pulse. This had the effect of breaking the anxiety cycle (checking pulse for skips --> finding skips --> checking again --> etc). That anxiety cycle becomes a physical phenomenon which tunes up your nervous system and makes those heart beats ever so easy to notice.
I take Eleuthero,Korean Ginseng,Lisinopril 30 mg and St Johns Wart. I do have anxiety as well but not all of the time. I have noticed that I seem to have very sweaty hands since the nervous breakdown. I have been using a herbal tea called Hushed Tea for the sweating hands. I do smoke and drink coffee. I was wondering can you shed any light as to why I am having a problem getting an erection. My girlfriend seems to understand but it is really bothering me.
My cardiologist has me on 120mg sotalol twice a day, 20 mg lisinopril, and I've had to start taking up to 5-6 mg Ativan to combat all the anxiety. This is driving me crazy and is getting very depressing. Best regards for the holiday.

) - pulmonary hypertension (PA pressures elevate persistently, not in relation to exercise) - neurocirculatory asthenia, Da Costa's syndrome, effort syndrome, and irritable or soldier's heart. all terms for exercise induced anxiety causing dyspnea & tachycardia - cerebral/midbrain emboli - pregnancy - inflammitory bowel disease - other infections such as mediastinitis - exercise induced arrhythmia Many of these wouldn't fit perfectly but would be things to think about... A week later I came home from school and I was actually in a decent mood but I had been contemplating suicide for a month then, I do everyday but I was beginning to plan different ways, and I swallowed about 120 - 80mg aspirin, some of my fathers Lisinopril (for his heart), half a bottle of Ibuprofen, and some melatonin. I ended up feeling severely sick the next day at school and felt sensitive to light, nauseated, and my hearing started to alter.
