Lisinopril for angina

Common Questions and Answers about Lisinopril for angina

monopril

Avatar f tn Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor and the mechanism of the agent is to dilate vessels to reduce hypertension. Metoprolol is in a group of drugs called beta-blockers. Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Metoprolol is used to treat angina and hypertension for high blood pressure. It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack. My regimen is Lisinopril and coreg (beta blocker).
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with Angina. My grandmother had it for as long as I knew her. I'm only 44 years old. Does Angina shorten your lifespan? I currently take Lisinopril for high blood pressure, and Metroprolol for rapid heart rate/heart palpitations. Is there any treatment for Angina, or anything I should do for it, or is it just something that you have to live with? Thanks!!!
Avatar m tn I have been hospitalized repeatedly since the heart attack and have tried all the usual medications such as verapamil, cardizem, imdur, metoprolol, lisinopril, norvasc and magnesium. I do not tolerate cardizem or imdur well. The angina was not controlled until they started me on Ranexa last year because the pain was constant and severe. I couldn't even walk across the room without severe pain.
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/angina/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20369378 Nitro is very often used but not the only option. Do you take a low dose aspirin daily? Check out this list of medications and talk to your doctor about the best treatment plan for you.
Avatar n tn I wake up gasping for air sometimes and my heart will start to race for about a minute or two and then slow down. Last Tuesday I was at a work convention and began to feel a pain in my chest near my left nipple. It was sharp feeling and lasted a second or two. I had a few more throughout the morning, so I went back to my hotel room to rest. It happened again while resting. Over the last week, I have experieced more of the same.
Avatar m tn We usually use EECP for uncontrolled angina which is not controlled with medications well. It will do nothing for your heart failure but definitely can help angina. It is safe and does not come with any risks, so if you are on good anti-anginal medications such as beta-blockers (I know you are on Coreg) and nitrates and/or ranexa and you are still having angina then I would recommend EECP if we could not fix anything with another stent.
Avatar m tn She also takes a high dosage of Lisinopril and Carvedilol and it seems like she is getting weaker at times. The dosage for Lisinopril is 40mg and 25mg for Carvedilol She has been taking this medication for almost 2 years now, but now she has become weaker and is more nervous now, have anxiety attacks. Is the dosage too high? Or is there anyway to reduce the side effects of the medication?? Thanks...
Avatar n tn Is Atenolol a good option for treating Angina I am currently being treated for high blood pressure and recently my cardioligist prescribed Atenolol 25 mg in the morning because of chest pains I was having and my blood pressure was not lowering enough
Avatar m tn Beta blockers definitely have an effect on heart rate. I was started on 2.5mg three years ago, and when my angina worsened I was told to double this to 5mg. I ended up in hospital because my heart rate dropped to 28, 25 when asleep setting off all the alarms. Each person can tolerate different levels of medications, so getting the balance right is important. I know in cardiac rehabilitation there were some people with heart rates between 45-50, much lower than my 68.
Avatar n tn I am a 57 year old female with known cad,hx of awmi in 2007 when my stent occluded after 2 years,DES stent, and restented with another DES-Taxsus-compliant on Plaxix,asa,zocor,lisinopril,coreg- I have frequent episodes of indigestion, tried nexiium bid, maalox, prilosec with no improvement. I do get relief with ntg and rest alot of the times. My last cath is Frb showed 40% occlusion of lad proximal to the stent and 40% mid stent with also a new occlusion of one of the vessels off the lad.

Just had my blood work done, LDL 131 HDL 42 TRI 328. everything else normal. had a ekg done at docs on Tuesday and was normal and have a appointment with a cardio tmrw morning. My concern is this: lately around 3am i wake up with a racing heart rate 120+ and feel like i'm having a heart attack....takes awhile for me to calm down and subside.
Avatar f tn I've never had a history of high blood pressure until recently after a sudden death in the family. I've been put in Lisinopril 10 mg for one week and now on Lisinopril 10mg with Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) 12.5 because it wasn't dropping as low as the PCM wanted (128/90s). I've read a lot of horror stories of HCTZ causing severe visual problems such as closed-angle glaucoma and other vision losses. Has anyone experienced this with BP medications such as the one mentioned?
Avatar m tn I'll stay with a nitrate 3 times a week. It has worked out well for the past 6 years...just curious, didn't know CCB worked for angina. I thought CCB was exclusively for systemic high blood pressure and a nitrate focused on coronary vessels. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, lisinopril, is for my high blood pressure.
Avatar n tn 20 mg in 7 am , and 20 mg Lisinopril in 7 pm (so total = 40 mg Lisinopril per day). During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S.
Avatar m tn re already taking Lisonopril for hypertension, be cautious, Metoprolol is often a very effective, cheap method for for control of hypertension as well. I now take it for that very reason. My guess is they put you on a low dose. What did they prescribe?

Avatar m tn I am a professional violinist and recently developed an essential tremor in my bow arm which interferes greatly with my playing. My neurologist tried primidone but it has helped only a little. I asked if he could put me on Inderal which I understand can help with essential tremor. However -- the doctor pointed out that I am already on lisinopril (for hypertension) which, he claimed, ALSO is effective in treating essential tremor.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for 3 months. It works on my BP but I am coughing and my nose is running.
1542723 tn?1294447438 Still get a little once in a while, after 7 years, but ONLY if the situation is stressful, but it can be from simple thinking on stressful events, situations. More I change my attitude over the issue is, for positive, sooner the angina stops and most right away. It is powerful to think we can control much more in our body more as we used to give credit for. Take care.
