Avatar f tn s replaced, bronchiectasis, and pulmonary fibrosis. She began to experience depression and was dx with reactive depression in January 2009 and started a low dose of Welbutrin. By June 2009 she experienced severe anxiety. Dr. stopped Welbutrin and my mom felt somewhat better, but not normal. In September 2009 her Dr. put her on 25mg Zoloft for the anxiety which seemed to work, but in November the anxiety seemed to be worsening. Dr.
Avatar f tn Assuming that you have both clinical or major depressive disorder AND hypothyroidism, Which I have because I had post partum depression, and depression since I was younger, when I didn't particularly have any hypo symptoms, at that point is it ok to take them together? I don't know the answer to this either and I have tried to research it. There seems to be a limited number of medications that affect the absorbtion of levothryoxine.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 19 years old and I have Hypothyroidism. I've been on Levothyroxine since December and my dosage is currently 125mg daily. QUESTIONS: What tests can I request my family doctor to do on me? Could these lingering symptoms be caused by depression? By anemia? By vitamin deficiencies? By inadequate thyroid medication dosage?
Avatar f tn Hypothyroidism can cause depression, but correcting the thyroid problem is the cure. It takes at least 90 days for thyroid medication to start showing improvements in the thyroid function. The nurse doesn't know what she's talking about. This is all being handled wrongly. First they should test your thyroid, then if needed prescribe medication, and don't expect improvement for at least 90 days. Once on this medication your liver needs to be checked yearly.
Avatar m tn The Major Anxiety Disorder, panic attacks, depression, and agoraphobia is the result of an underlying medical problem, and I truly believe it was the result of an incompetent doctor that saw me only once, however, my family physician felt I still needed to take the Synthroid. I've bounced around from .25 - 1.25 mg. My hope and prayer is that this doctor can help me. So the question again - was I placed on thyroid medication when I didn't need it?
Avatar f tn I was treated many years for depression and anxiety...when finally one doctor found the problem. It was my THYROID all along. I suspended all drugs and just took Levothryroxin and all my problems were gone... Now I am on Novotiral and life is MUCH MUCH BETTER!
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. I have ringing and pressure in my left ear along with an inflammed feeling in my thyroid gland. I feel horrible and everyday it's a struggle to keep going. Even my gums ache. I've been to the ent for the ringing in my ear and sinusitis. I use a neti pot and just finished antibiotics but I'm still no better. Now it seems my sinuses are better but my thyroid is burning. I am hypothyroid and I'm on levothyroxine .050.
Avatar n tn At my next yearly exam with my doctor a the VA, he told me that Armour is a very horrible drug to be on, that it is from dessicated pig hormone, and that I must switch to Levothyroxine. I am currently on .025mg of Levothyroxine (which I realize is a low dose, but the dose of Armour that I was on was very low too -- like 1/2 grain per day) and things have just not been right ever since. I have this strange lightheaded feeling and I get little bouts of depression here and there.
Avatar f tn I too am taking 50mcg Levothyroxine for the past couple of months and have fell through a depression. My Endocrinologist gave me a prescription for 100mcg Levothyroxine and I have taken it and now I am to the point that I am crying. I was diagnosed Hypothyroid 2 years ago but I have been fine not taking any medication and my doctor told me I must take the meds and now I am depressed because of it.
Avatar n tn 15 mg. of levothyroxine. In 2006 my TSH was .14; 2007 TSH was .11, and in February of 2008 the TSH was .03. My PCP said the TSH levels were fine and did not change my dosage of levothyroxine. In January of this year I started having angina for the first time (I'm 59 years old) and problems with fatigue, low stamina, and depression, so I went to an endocrinologist in Feb. of 2008. Again my TSH was .03. My Free T4 was 191 and Free T3 was 3.1 (within normal range).
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed having an under active thyroid about 1.5 years ago, my results being "borderline". I am now on 50mg of levothyroxine sodium. Recently I have developed a itchy red rash and it keeps on spreading! Please help! Is this an affect of levothyroxine? When I was initially diagnosed I was also severely anemic, which can also be a cause of my symptoms, fatigue, hair loss, weight gain etc...
Avatar f tn hello, I started taking 50 mcg of Levothyroxine about 3 weeks ago to help with hypothyroidism. My symptoms were anxiety and depression. 2 nights ago I started to feel a lot worse and more anxious. Yesterday and last night I went through the same thing and it's still pretty bad right now. Has anyone else had the same experience. I feel really awful right now.
Avatar n tn Why do I have depression and anxiety attacks since I had my thyroid removed due to cancer of the left lobe. What can I do about it? I have suicidal thoughts, but would never go through with it. At least not yet. I need help and I can't get my doctor to understand how serious this really is to me. I just want to feel good again. I am on levothyroxine 1.25 trying to get my dose adjusted to "normal." I also take generic celexa, trazodone and risperdal.
Avatar m tn s not really my concern any more. I just want to start, and have started, dealing with things like anxiety and depression in a healthier way than just medicating them away (if that makes sense). But, if there is a real medical condition with my thyroid that is increasing the sweats and heart racing and body aches, even by a bit (because those symptoms are really, really getting rough), I'd like to address them. The tough part is finding someone to address them with:).
Avatar f tn Before I began taking Synthroid, I experienced extreme numbness in my fingers and toes, a huge *HUGE* weight gain, lethargy, depression, and hair loss (to name a few). You didn't say how long you have been taking the medication nor how much weight you have gained. I began gaining weight about 7 years ago and then gained over 70 lbs during my last pregnancy (compared to the 25 lbs I gained with the first two).
Avatar f tn i take 800 mg of lithuim, 60mg of citalopram for my dipolar II disorder and 125mg of levothyroxine for my underactive thyrod i seem to have problems with my sex drive i never want it could it be the meds
781069 tn?1236000291 I have felt better on the Armour but my Endo and GP will not prescribe it so I would have to buy it for the rest of my life. I want to give the combined Liothyronine and Levothyroxine another try as this is free and will save me heaps of money. But I would rather feel well and pay for it than feel lousy and get the meds for free.
Avatar f tn Had been feeling terrible when I was switched by my mail order to Synthroid instead of Levothyroxine. Dr. also said I was hypo. Recent test results TSH - 7.93 - Thyroxine Free 0.80. Can some people tolerate Levo better than Synthroid. Don't know if my symptoms of nausea, bloating, depression, hot spells are due to Synthroid or hypo. Thank you so much.
Avatar m tn Insomnia is a big one and the depression and weight gain. She has to try to get some control. Its not easy. Im thinking her levels are off because as soon as I forget a dose, I am crying uncontrollably and can't stop. I also begin headaches and nausea. but, I can't eat when its off. I lose weight. People are different. Hope this helps some. Good luck.
Avatar f tn i have been diagnoed underactive thyroid for 11 years now, i get my blood levels measured avery 6 months and they are stable, i take 200mcg levothyroxine daily, so how come i still get all the symptoms, hair loss, dry skin, feel cold, depression, tired, and i was never so heavy as now, ever, seem to have a slow metabolism, although if i strict diet it does slowly come off, but whos gonna diet theyre whole life,i do eat healthily, always low fat options, welcome any opinions
955035 tn?1246539172 Hello. I am new to this site and am hopeful to learn some more about my Hashimoto's. After several years struggling with anxiety & depression issues, I was diagnosed last August with Hashimoto’s at age 30. I am relieved to know that “I’m not crazy…but my thyroid is”; however I’m still struggling. I’m beginning to wonder if my DHEA-Sulfate level (which I believe is high) may indicate something going on with my adrenal glands in addition to the Hashimoto’s.
Avatar f tn Another good one is Tirosint, which is a gelcap and contains only glycerine, water, Levothyroxine and gelatin. Tirosint tends to be the most expensive, but the manufacturer has programs for those who qualify. Is TSH the only thyroid related blood test that's being performed regularly? What about Free T4 and Free T3? Those are the actual thyroid hormones.
Avatar m tn Hi. My question is, am I likely to have caused myself permanent damage by stupidly taking iodine supplements as well as levothyroxine for six weeks? I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid about six weeks ago and put on 25mcg levothyroxine daily. At the time, I suspected that the vegan diet I had been following for nearly a decade had probably caused the thyroid problem, as vegan diets can be notoriously low in iodine.
212753 tn?1275073111 I have been looisng weight It has been hard since I am throidles and bi polar I take levothyroxine .I am on zyprex and celexa for the bi polar and these are 2 of the most notorious meds for weight gain. It is possible to loose healthy diet 6 small meals a day. NO caffiine or sugar. These are 2 of the most legal addictive substances in the world and they both aggravate depression.
Avatar f tn I have be on .05mg levothyroxine daily for 10 months now and I feel like I'm 90 years old. During routine physical blood work done my doctor said I had low thyroid. The only symtom I had was depression, which I figured was from menopause. I am normal weight, skin ok, always have been athletic ( I'm 48 years old) If I stay in any position for too long my whole body aches from my toes to my neck. Once I get moving, I'm ok but to stay still is debilitating.
1831920 tn?1320857757 m not sure, all that i know is a take klonopin for anxiety , effexor which is an SNRI and is used to treat depression, levothyroxine for hypothyroidism , and ibuprofen a lot because i have headaches. Try them and see how they work, if they don't work try something else. Can I ask what the Topamax is for?
Avatar n tn See I was never explained by my doc what hashimotos was. I was told I have it and put on levothyroxine, never told to check blood levels nothing. And all of this was done on my voice mail. The first time I was checked was three months later and was told that my levels were fine even though I felt like crap. Sometimes I want to stop taking this stuff because it has made me fee horrible since I've started. My question is, why do I feel better after I lower my meds?
