levaquin

Yeap- the wonders of being a women. Ya know - we didn't eat the apple -- HE DID -- why oh why do we pay. That GB stuff is hard- Scott my husband had his out and fought it all the way - finally he caved. I am dealing with that "mother of all meds" too right now with that prednisone. 50 for 5 days. WOW am I moody - but I think you had figured that out already LOL Today is the last day on that. Still have that pesky sore throat through - not swollen to much - but chest hurts.
I went to the doctor the next day and he only gave me prednisone. Neither pharmacist nor doctor said anything about drug interaction of levaquin with Celebrex or prednisone. I have been in bed most of the time since this all started and am trying to find an internist who is experienced and knowledgeable in clinical pharmacology. I have an appt on monday with an internist's physician's assistant. Have you considered suing the drug company who makes levaquin? Have you found an attorney?
However, in the past two years I have now had some pretty bad brushes with bronchitis and now am fighting a nearly month-old issue with coughing and head congestion. My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar.
Since August, 2007, I have been on Augmentin XR 1,000 with a ten day prednisone treatment, Levaquin with prednisone, 6 months of last year I was on antibiotics with prednisone, and this fall, I have been on the same treatment for 6 weeks running. I also use pulmicort, xopenax, singulair, nasonex, synthroid 100, paxil 10, and hydocortisone 25 mg for itching...
The thing that I wonder about is I got sick enough that I had to start another prednisone taper starting at 40 mg prednisone and since being on the prednisone the tachycardia and chest discomfort have completely resolved. I am still experiencing a great deal of fatigue and notice that sometimes the feeling of "skipped" beats occurs frequently....for example I drove to the library today and got so exhausted driving that I had to sit in the parking lot I couldn't get out of the car.
This seems unlikely because the pain is so activity related, and 2 neurologists I saw did not think it was the case. It's possible that this is all a side effect of Levaquin, which I took with Prednisone for a sinus infection. But it would be an extremely undocumented one, and therefore is very unlikely. Some lengthy background: I am a 25 year old male. Prior to these issues, I was very active; I lifted weights regularly for the last 5 years, and rock climbed for about 2 years.
Hello. My fiance has been suffering with eustation tube dysfunction for a little over 6mths. now. We have tried numerous decongestants and nasal sprays as well as a round of steroids. His ENT did allergy testing on him, however, he did not have any significant allergies. Our last resort was to have PE tubes placed. This only made his symptoms worse and they took them out after a couple of weeks. Suprisingly after they took the tubes out and his ears were healing, he was symptom free.
Was given prednisone 60 mg in the urgent care center and a bag of Levaquin via vein. Was sent home with prednisone 60 mg per day for 5 days and Levaquin 750 mg per day for 4 days. Well for the last two weeks my ears have been clogged up and driving me just nuts. I can not stand putting anything in my ears, so what can I do?
Dear reader, I have had a cough/wheeze for the past 10 weeks. I am currently on day 74-75 of this. It started after I recovered from a sinus infection that slightly went into my chest/bronchitis. It could be considered post-infectious...but it has now lasted months. I have a lot of information in this posted topic, but my question would be merely, "Do you have any information that can help me relating to what I am experiencing, or do you know what may be wrong with me?
I was sick with a u.r.i in Aug. I was given 15 pills of levaquin 500 mg & a medrol pak. I didn't use the medrol pak until later. My upper respiratory went into bronchitis when I came across a smoker in Sept.. I then got a sinus infection and was given 5 more pills of levaquin after the other medication was finished. I went to the ER when I was not able to breathe well. I was diagnosed with bronchitis. I was given a medrol pak. I finished the levaquin I had and 1 medrol pak.
As a result of bronchitis yrs ago I have needed an inhaler..last one was Advair 500...only used once a day. Never needed a rescue inhaler. In December, durung a very stressfull year, I had 2 URI's then found inhaler wasn't doing the job. Referred to pulminoligist: Blood work showed the above and due to a 3rd URI he placed me on azithromax, doxycyline, Biaxin & Levequin + a shot of prednisone + a shot of one of the antibiotic's & prescriptionfor laddered prednisone.
When and if I find something that helps, I will post. Meanwhile, my thoughts are with all of us who have these crazy symptoms with no answers. Hang in there.
I am on albuterol for breathing, levaquin and prednisone. I am stuck out of town with no doctor around. I am not feeling better, feel more like I cant breath- now turn bright red in face and chest when coughing.choking. Am I jumping the gun to head back to an er? or is it a waste of time?

It was levaquin, which I have taken before with prednisone. however I have had recent news that I was not intubated; I was masked. I had bitten through my lower lip during surgery and may have had a seizure or stroke. I have had a MRI, but don't know if this will tell. I was also told that my blood pressure was 130/83 I usually stay well below 100 (98/63) being the norm for me. I have begun to have a hint of smell and taste but it is not completely back (into the 5th week).
I was dx'd with Pulmonary Sarcoid (per biopsy)and Asthma in 2002 and treated with Prednisone and Advair Diskus. Prednisone stated at 30 mg daily and tapered off after 8 months and continued with the Asthma treatment since. February of this year, symptoms of Sarcois re-appeared (major SOB) and prednisone was prescribed at 60mg daily. Hospitalized 4/8-4/11 w/pneumonia, released w/ rx for Levaquin 500mg daily, albuterol/neb 4 x daily. Pred has been tapered to 20mg daily.
meds. 39 days ago I came down with a cold which lead to asthma. Prescribed prednisone for the asthma (before the infections started)….then prescribed a Zpak (by Urgent Care for sinus & ear infections before pneumonia set in) and then a 7 day course of Levaquin (by my Allergy & Asthma doc) for bronchitis, pneumonia & sinus infection as well as continuing the prednisone.
My anxiety really declined and I could focus more clearly after we treated my Bart. (Rifampin and Levaquin). Extensive GI issues with Lyme are another hallmark of a Bart coinfection. Given your sister's GI involvement, it is a strong possibility she also has Bartonella. I recommend the article by Virginia Sherr called "Bell's Palsy of the Gut." When I read it, I practically yelled, "She's describing ME!
Has seen patients after giving birth and menopausal with this type of pain. Cat scan ordered and showed sinusitus. Antibiotic given and prednisone steroid to stop inflamation and infection. After three days of steroid, top of head began to tingle. Then more symptoms came on terrible. Left side of face numb sensation but not numb, nose also same sensation, forhead, top of head feeling like hot rods down inside.
I get these unexplained chills all the time, where im freezing cold with goose bumps all over my body. They hurt and I can barely walk they are so bad sometimes. I check my temp when I get these episodes and its perfectly normal. I do not have a infection or am not sick. Im not even in a cold environment. Everyone around me is not cold. Its the weirdest thing, and I cant find a answer for it. Its like my body is messed up and sending these chills for no reason. Please help.
about them, and he said it was erythema nodosum as a result of an allergic reaction to Levaquin. However, since then I've had minor difficulty breathing. I'm an asthmatic, so that's not abnormal, but still... Any help would be appreciated.
This new box warning via FDA is something i've been aware of for some time in patients using ciprofloxaxin, levaquin (levofloxacin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox), ofloxacin (floxin), gatifloxacin (tequin), and i'm glad it'll be highlighted on labeling, showing it's increasing incidence: risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture is further increased in those over age 60, in kidney, heart, and lung transplant recipients, and with use of concomitant steroid therapy.

I never really felt 100% better and then last Friday I started having ear pain and little fever. So I started myself on Levaquin 500 mg a day. Felt better next day but it does not seeming to be going away, now on my 4th day of Leviquin. Plus my throat clearing and post nasal drip has never gone away 100% either.
I have been prescribed levaquin and prednisone for my ear infection. I have to get off flecainide for two weeks so that I can use the levaquin. I am keeping a journal the next two weeks and record what I feel. I have been on an antiarrythmic for two years and this will be the first time I am off. If my symptoms diminish, if I stay in sinus rhythm, I think I can draw some conclusions that may effect the quality of my days. Like you, I want to gain control of my body/heart.
Another cbc, fluids, breathing treatment. Diagnosed with atypical pneumonia, sent home with cough syrup with codiene, told to follow up with doc in three days. Follow up still feeling worse. Referred to pulmonologist. Saw pulmonologist first time on Christmas Eve. Lung function tests normal, but having bronchiole spasms. Put on Tussinex (10 mg hydrocodone) cough syrup (1 tsp twice a day) and 14 day round of levaquin as well as sski to thin secretions. Oh yeah, more prednisone too. Nada.
They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.
I contacted my family doctor the day after this began and he ordered me 6 days of oral Levaquin, 80mgs of Prednisone for 6 days, and 5mg hydrocodone for the pain. I have taken the meds faithfully - although the Levaquin is killing my colitis - but no change. I only seem to be getting worse. I hate to run to the ER to say I have a stomach ache, but I'm getting desperate now. Any ideas out there? Thanks so Much!
Dear Doctor, I had wheezing on exhaling and peak flow meter of 425 when usually it's 600-625 for a few weeks. when I took prednisone and solumedrol I came down with sore throat and a bad infection that didn't respond to antibiotics and lasted 1 month. I am still wheezing several months later. what could have caused this and what can I do to treat it? the doctor seems to say it is due to vocal chord problems. I noticed on 40-50mg of prednisone a day my FVC increased from 70 to 80.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have also been battling ADR's from taking Levaquin with Prednisone in February. It has caused arthritis like symtoms. I have already had one knee surgery from the damage the meds did. Could all this be tied in together?
