I'm getting a bit scared lately... I have been battling a recent UTI. I used to get them a lot when I was younger but haven't had one in about 2- 3 years. Anyway, took levaquin 500mg for about a week and felt much better then 4 days later it hit again. Did the AZO testing which tested positive for nitrate so went back on Levaquin and after two days of taking it I wasn't getting much relief so I went to my doctor.

No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago). Any ideas about what is going on? thanks so much.

t know why he ordered Levaquin vs another ATB. Tinnitus and the being off balance are two different symptoms. One is not causing the other. Have you read the side effects from Levaquin? There are quite alot, and I believe this drug has been "black boxed" in the USA. However, I am not so sure this caused your problems or your problems are unrelated to the Levaquin.

However, I did have intensified gut and neuro symptoms as well as anxiety, all of which are attributed to Bartonella. I am still on Levaquin for it even though my anxiety is gone.

I have an ear infection needing antibiotics (Levaquin. 500mg). The pharmacist said that these two meds are contraindicated. My cardiologist said to go off of Flecainide for 2 weeks while taking the Levaquin. The bad news is that I am scared to go off on a med that I have been taking for a long time. Then, she gave me a cream call Muciprocin, but i've been using it for over a week and see no improvement, although no rashes. Has this happened to anyone? Are there other antibiotics out there? Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage. Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects??? I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

About 3 weeks after surgery I had a small area on each breast (at the point in which my vertical and horizontal scars met) that would not heal and became infected. I went back on Keflex (I took it as a preventative measure for two weeks after surgery) as well as Levaquin. They still did not heal. Eventually my surgeon did a debridement and stiched things back up. The stiches were kept in for two weeks.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and to Lyme. I've been doing so well on Levaquin for 30 days. Infact, I've been feeling great! Last week, I began having pain in joints and neck. I know Levaquin can cause this, but so can Lyme. I'm not sure if I should stop taking the Levaquin now, wait and call my doctor on Monday, or try something else first? My doctor is not a Lyme doctor.

Went to the doctor and he tested me for strept and mono and tests came back negative. Well he put me on keflex (250mg twice a day for 10 days) totaling 5000mg course. My concern is that I got syphilis has well as hsv2 that same encounter but the keflex cured my syphilis but I gave it to my girlfriend before I was cured. Will that low of a dose keflex cure syphilis? I also had a full test 1 1/2 months post keflex and everything was fine except hsv2.

I have had problems with staph for over a year. My pcare dr has handled most of them. He gave me Keflex, and said to use perioxide, and hot compresses. Well, I kept getting them. He said I was culturized and it would show up on a swab from my nose. He said it was contagious, though my husband never got it. I had one in my rectum and then it went to one eye. The eye doctor said everyone has staph on their body, it is a bacteria, but some people are more subseptible to break outs.

I was diagnosed with a bacterial ear infection in Nov 2011 which the Dr said had spread to my throat, and was given a seven day course of cephalexin (keflex). The throat instantly felt better but the ear infection appeared to spread from the left ear to my right ear (fullness, popping, pain). Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
