levaquin vs amoxicillin

I have an ear infection needing antibiotics (Levaquin. 500mg). The pharmacist said that these two meds are contraindicated. My cardiologist said to go off of Flecainide for 2 weeks while taking the Levaquin. The bad news is that I am scared to go off on a med that I have been taking for a long time. The good news is that I will find out if the meds are causing my daily symptoms of nausea, extreme fatigue, sleepiness and I don't need anti arrhythmic agents for A-Fib.

No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago). Any ideas about what is going on? thanks so much.

After earlier courses of Amoxicillin, then Zithromax, upon determining Pneumonia I have been prescribed Levaquin, a much stronger antibiotic; But the Levaquin costs $ 264, which I can not afford. Is there a comparable antibiotic I can take that is more reasonably priced?

t know why he ordered Levaquin vs another ATB. Tinnitus and the being off balance are two different symptoms. One is not causing the other. Have you read the side effects from Levaquin? There are quite alot, and I believe this drug has been "black boxed" in the USA. However, I am not so sure this caused your problems or your problems are unrelated to the Levaquin.

However, I did have intensified gut and neuro symptoms as well as anxiety, all of which are attributed to Bartonella. I am still on Levaquin for it even though my anxiety is gone.

I'm getting a bit scared lately... I have been battling a recent UTI. I used to get them a lot when I was younger but haven't had one in about 2- 3 years. Anyway, took levaquin 500mg for about a week and felt much better then 4 days later it hit again. i have an absses in my top tooth it has become swollen and has made my cheek swell and is traveling up my face and my temple is now swollen. i am on amoxicillin for two days. im worried that it could be dangerous with the swelling on my face.

Hi J..may I ask what they gave you augmentin for ? If it was for the winter upper resporitory crap that was going around then maybe it wasn't strong enough. Augmentin is a pretty broad spectrum anti. Maybe ask for Zpack (zithromycin). The trouble with antibiotics are doctors over prescribe this crap and becomes ineffective as the bugs become resistant.

Yes I took antibiotics twice within 8 weeks. Its fine. I came down with two throat infections my first 6 weeks of tx . Your OK with that.

The doctor took xrays and gave me amoxicillin clavulanate. He said one side cleared after a week, but the right side needed another week or antibiotics. I never really felt 100% better and then last Friday I started having ear pain and little fever. So I started myself on Levaquin 500 mg a day. Felt better next day but it does not seeming to be going away, now on my 4th day of Leviquin. Plus my throat clearing and post nasal drip has never gone away 100% either.

I, too, have a bad taste for the past month since my implants. I've had x-rays to check if there's any infection. Periodontist prescribed amoxicillin, then Augmentin, now Levaquin. It's still there!

I have been getting ear infections on and off for about a year. The doctor has previously tried me on antihistamines and amoxicillin (which I was allergic to) to no avail. QUESTIONS Since 1st post ONE - Cold i had turned to Brochitus, Dr prescribed 750mg Levaquin 10 days. Can Levaquin interfere with RNA test? TWO - Only symptoms I have are Bronchitus, nasuea that lasts 10 minutes comes & goes around dinner time, shooting nerve pain in abdomen, racing feeling & red face for a few days. No fever, swollen nodes as far as I can tell. Do not remember Levaquin causing me nausea when I have taken it before?

I was on 875 mg of amoxicillin for respritory infection then the day i finished that I was given levaquin for a sinus infection I got while I was on the amoxicillin and now I have an ear infection with discharge and bleeding and the sinus infection is not gone? The pain is becoming unbearable now when i urinate which is about 20+ times a day and 2-3 times during the night,after taking a course of Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid) for 7 days the problem persists and have had to make another appointment to see my doctor this coming Monday,I was told i had a kidney infection after doing a urine sample and that the pills should clear it up,but they didnt work for me.

thought I had stomach bug and put me on Leviquin for 4 weeks and them switched me to Amoxicillin for another two weeks to no relief. About 2 months ago I began experiencing daily frontal and occipital headaches, as well as upper neck pain. A month into it, I was put on Amoxicillin for a sinus infection. Six days later, I had an episode where my jaw and tongue felt tight and I felt as though I was lisping. The patient I was interviewing did not seem to notice. Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage. Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects??? I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

Previously a normal healthy person, 7 months ago I had "vital nerve exposure" during a routine filling and required my first root canal a few days later. The tooth remained sensitive/sore afterwards, especially to hot and cold. 3 months later, same tooth started hurting terribly, and felt 'hot.' Endodontist said it was infected. With the infection I also developed low fever and malaise.
