Levaquin and sinusitis

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin and sinusitis

levaquin

Avatar n tn Can sinusitis cause vision focus and vision being blurry? One eye is very senstive to light. Does drinking vinegar in water help fight infection. I have been on zertec d and antibotic.
Avatar m tn I'm sorry to trouble any of you with these concerns, however, I do not know where to turn and am running out of peace in mind. On July 7th 2012, I went to the section of the Bronx and received oral sex (unprotected) from a younger streetwalker. She used the condom at first but then took it off because of the discomfort it had on me (too tight). Absolutely reckless, I know and am sweating with my dear life right now.
Avatar f tn I had a cat scan done which showed I have chronic sinus infection, a nasal polyp, and deviated septum. I had a sleep study done and waiting for results. I have had Levaquin 500 mg for 20 days. Then Levaquin 750 mg for 10 days. I still have fever and sinus headaches. The doctor also started me on Mucinex. I do not think it is doing anything at all. My fever varies from 99.9 to 100.5. I am always tired.
Avatar f tn I was told that some people are particularly likely to experience these side effects on Levaquin and that we tend to get hid pretty hard with them. Tell your doctor about every symptom and enlist his/her help in treating them (symptomatically or at the source) and in remembering to prescribe a different drug if there is a next infection. Good luck!
Avatar f tn So now I'm on Levaquin for 3 weeks for a sinus infection. One of the side effects is tendonitis. I already have tendonits (both wrists) and everything has failed including physical therapy and steroid injections, i was referred to surgeon now as nothing has worked, have an appoint in November. Should I take the levaquin if i already have tendonitis? The sinus infection is bad saw ENT friday and put me on levaquin.
Avatar n tn I had a cold about 6 weeks ago and my doctor thought I hand sinusitis and prescribed me a z-pack. I did not tell him about the unprotected sex at that time. The cough has only seemed to gotten worse over time and they have now prescribed me 500mg levaquin with the same diagnosis. I have no redness, bumps, rash, etc. Is there any chance that these symptoms are related to an oral STD. There was no fluid exchanged so maybe that helps some. Should I have anything to worry about?
Avatar m tn This doc says to go to my internal med for the asthma, but I know it is connected to the sinusitis! Have been on prednisone- that helps until I go off and a few weeks later it all starts up again. Is there hope of ever getting rid of this nasty infection?
Avatar f tn I had the same problem for years, despite otherwise good health, and I took, on different occasions, Levaquin, a Z-pack, and Augmentin. Awesome antiobiotics indeed, they killed every pathogen in my body except several in my sinuses, which grew back immediately. According to Mayo Clinic research, sinus infections don't follow the regular model of tissue infection.
Avatar f tn But the pattern continued and within a month I was sick again, went to the doctor after it was over, found I had more pus and was put on Levaquin for 7 days. Seemed like it got better, but about a week or two later after I finished the antibiotics I got sick again and got another (this time over the phone) prescription for more Levaquin. Then I got double sick again WHILE STILL ON the Levaquin.
Avatar m tn I think as I have gotten older its has gotten worse and might now need that new ballon procedure for the sinus...avelox and levaquin are like poison to me after being on them for so many weeks,,,anxiety,fatigue...insomnia...restlessness stomach upset...elevated heart rate...floroquines are bad...I still feel effects weeks after stopping them...I hope thats all it is...thanks Doctor...
Avatar n tn Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.
Avatar f tn You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.
Avatar n tn s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?
Avatar f tn Many antibioitics cause reflux. Levaquin is a strong one and is known to cause problems. I would recommend that you take the Levaquin with dinner tonight (it is supposed to be taken with food) and then enjoy the evening with your husband so you can both monitor your symptoms. If you have the difficulty breathing again, you should go to an ER. Also, if you are an asthmatic, you probably just need to use your inhaler on a regular basis while you get over this infection.
Avatar m tn Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
Avatar m tn I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.
Avatar m tn They will probably send me to an Ear, Nose, and Throat (more time off work). My sinus infections go away by now and I have never needed more than augmentim. Note that the infection does respond to anti-biotics, but it did not totally go away after a month.
Avatar f tn I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar n tn I was wondering where the best place for me would be to find a complete list of medicines I should stay away from with Long QT syndrome. I have a list but it is over 5 years old, and I am in need of a new one! Thank You!
Avatar f tn I am allergic to penicillin and related antibiotics, but my physician has me keep albuterol and a mild antibiotic on hand in case protracted respiratory symptoms develop, usually after a cold. OK. This happened recently. I had a cold and then the usual subsequent respiratory problems. I held off, then went to the bronchodilator. When my symptoms persisted and I felt worse, I finally decided to take the antibiotic (Azithromycin). This has worked before; this time it didn't.
Avatar n tn The typical symptoms of prostatitis are fever, pelvic, testicle, or rectal pain, frequent and painful urination and ejaculation and incomplete emptying of bladder. In addition to the antibiotics, use medications to help relieve bothersome symptoms, such as alpha blockers to relieve urinary symptoms and anti-inflammatory medications for pain. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I would go on doses of antibiotics like levaquin and zithromax, which would eventually make the symptoms subside and later (1-2 months) come back. I now developed terrible coughing fits, especially when I'm lying in bed at night (oddly, especially when lying on my left side?) and have developed phlegm in my chest. I'm wondering if there could be something in my room that causes this.
Avatar n tn If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.
793305 tn?1493925518 I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!
Avatar n tn At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort. also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days. i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.
