m back on Ranitidine as the side affects of Lansoprazole were unpleasant and just as bad or worse as the GERD. When I stopped taking Lansoprazole I had bad symptoms for a few days but they subsided. However since then my Acid Reflux / GERD has been more or less what it was before starting Lansoprazole. Some days its worse than others.
I've also read about the negative side effects of PPI drugs.
Tums are safe. You're dr may advise you to take reg Zantac otc and at 34 + weeks you can take prilosec. Just alway's call and touch base with you're dr office first.
Well here I am again - a month on. GP still won't refer me to consultant! Has doubled the dose of Lansoprazole which has not made too much difference really. I have completely adjusted my diet having bought fantastic book "Dropping Acid - The Reflux Diet Cookbook & Cure". The coughing is less severe and I am not doing the sleep apnea thing now, which is an improvement. Throat is less sore and have been drinking aloe vera.

I just started taking 30 mg of Lansoprazole a day for gerd. Does anyone know if the Prevacid (lansoprozole) prevents absorption of the the drugs. I asked my GI doctor and he said he didn't think there were issues of that sort, but he wasn't sure.

prescribed the triple therapy that consist of Lansoprazole, Clarithromycin, and Amoxicillin. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of of Amoxicillin (500 mg) every 12 hours but its supposed to be two pills (1g) every 12 hours, and I already finished the cycle. Now I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, how long should I wait before I take another H. Pylori test?
I never felt better until I got on 60 mg (2x prescription strength/day) of lansoprazole. Nothing OTC or of lower strength prescription helped. I've been on this therapy for months with no issues unless I forget to take it (blech).
m 5ft 7. I have been taking the Proton Pump Inhibitor Drug Lansoprazole for my Hiatus Hernia/Acid Reflux for roughly 3 years now. I started with 30mg per day and the past year I had to up my dose to 60mg per day due to my severe acid reflux.
For the past 12 months I have been experiencing what can only be described as Fatigue, brain fog and exhaustion. It is the type that isn't helped by sleep, rest, or even suggested by my doctor, excercise. Infact the latter only makes it 10x worse.
Anyway, a month later, (yesterday) I was prescribed lansoprazole but I have done some research and it says lansoprazole can cause kidney failure. Should I take these tablets or wait till Friday and get a second opinion from the hospital on my assessment?
Tried various OTC for acid reduction and acid blockers under original suspicion of ulcers (lansoprazole, mylanta,) these only caused further loose and irregular bowel symptoms. (Now discontinued). GI suggested IBgard after suggesting IBS, in which after finding out the daily cost I am using peppermint oil gel capsules. These calm my gut does not remove the pain. I have a Xanax prescription as needed for anxiety taken to help me sleep when the pain keeps me awake.
I was wondering if there is some type of OTC allergy medication I can give him to help him get past this outbreak. He normally weighs in at 14 pounds.

Pylori is 1000mg (1g) of Amoxicillin combined with 500mg of clarithromycin and PPI in your case Lansoprazole 30 mg - 2 times a day.
Are you allergic to any drugs? For examples penicillins? then maybe your doctor meant to write metronidazole 500mg as there is another type of treatment for penicillin allergic patients which includes metronidazole 500mg + clarithromycin 500mg + PPI.
I had 3 operations in the first 5 years without success (it just came back) but a breakthrough came 4 years ago when my ENT specialist put me on lansoprazole, a PPI, believing that it was probably due to acid reflux (although I had no symptoms). The granuloma disappeared over the next 6 months.
However, it sometimes comes back, or at least the symptoms do, every few months, but go again after 2 or 3 weeks. But over the last week or so symptoms have come back with a vengeance.
pylori after having a breath test done, and have been prescribed by my doctor - lansoprazole 30 mg - metronidazole 400 mg - amoxicillin 500 mg. All three medacation taken twice a day for a 7 day course.I am now into the 5 th day of taking them.There seems to be no side effects, the problems of bloating,discomfort (painfull at times) that comes and goes througout the day,has not eased at all.
If these combanation of tablets were going to work,would my symptons have eased by now ?.
So I was given another two month dose of lansoprazole 30mg. Then last week I went on holiday so my normal diet of not much alcohol at all, low fat food (even though I can get away with the odd treat) went out the window, I was having foods I wouldnt normal have and more alcohol, and then 3 days into my holiday the breathing problem started again!
My doc prescribed me Lansoprazole gastro resistant as there has been blood in my vomit recently. Has anyone taken it or know anything about it?

History:
Prior to the diagnosis I had felt a strange pressure in my stomach occasionally which started around October 2009. I probably should have gone to the doctor when I was feeling the swelling/pressure but I thought it was just from being cramped into the Miata I had just purchased. I bought the car because some guy ran a red light and hit my previous car.
Try an over-the-counter (OTC) cream or ointment containing hydrocortisone (Cortaid, Preparation H),but it is to be applied sparingly to the affected area. A protective ointment that contains zinc oxide (Desitin, Balmex) also may help. If your symptoms are worse at night, please take an antihistamine like Benadryl to reduce itching until topical treatments take effect.
Beginning of the month I started being sick (throwing up part food part acid (I think)) my stomach pain has increased so I am on Codine for it. The Doctor have upped my dose of Lansoprazole and I am also on Ranitidine as well. Apart from the pain and being sick it hurts to eat food and after I have eaten also I am loosing my appetite too. My diet hasn't changed and not changed anything else.
