Avatar f tn Hello I'm going to be having 3 stents inserted into my arteries in a couple of weeks time. My specialist (who will be carrying out the procedure) has asked me to take 600mg of clopigdogrel and 600mg of asprin the night before the procedure, and I'm a bit worried about doing this. Is it normal practice? I currently take 75mg of clopidogrel every day.
Avatar m tn m back on Ranitidine as the side affects of Lansoprazole were unpleasant and just as bad or worse as the GERD. When I stopped taking Lansoprazole I had bad symptoms for a few days but they subsided. However since then my Acid Reflux / GERD has been more or less what it was before starting Lansoprazole. Some days its worse than others. I've also read about the negative side effects of PPI drugs.
Avatar n tn This is because lansoprazole and other proton pump inhibitors weaken the bones and have been linked to the development of osteosteoporosis. People who are at higher risk for sustaining such injuries are those who take higher doses of this medication and those who take this medication for one year or longer. Also, people who are 50 years of age and older are also at risk of sustaining similar injuries.

Avatar f tn Anyway, a month later, (yesterday) I was prescribed lansoprazole but I have done some research and it says lansoprazole can cause kidney failure. Should I take these tablets or wait till Friday and get a second opinion from the hospital on my assessment?

Avatar m tn The doctor tried me on omeprazoles about 6 mths ago then had me on lansoprazole once a day. After six weeks symptons were much better, and the last 3 to 4 weeks of that time, pain and discomfort were totally gone. Then it came back boxing day with revenge, then i started taking lansoprazole back again. Unable to have any relief ,decided to see doctor again about 3 to 4 weeks ago and it was decided i should have a breath test, which came back 2 weeks later positive.
Avatar f tn Doctor gave me prenisolone and antibiotics to check it wasnt an infection but all that happened was my stomach felt like it had been kicked by a horse, I had a horrible taste in my mouth and major acidy feeling. The doc eventually suggested I went back on lansoprazole and after about 3 weeks I felt back to normal. When I was feeling better I was scheduled in for an endoscopy and the results were bile and acid reflux, esophogisits and gastritis.
Avatar m tn You will need to take a combination of medications like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into and a combination antibiotic tried. Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals.

Avatar f tn My doc prescribed me Lansoprazole gastro resistant as there has been blood in my vomit recently. Has anyone taken it or know anything about it?
Avatar m tn Thanks. He was prescribed famotidine and lansoprazole. He is still taking the lansoprazole but it isn't helping. I will inquire about allergies. I am currently on a one year wait list for an appointment at the allergy clinic, myself.... Maybe they can expedite the process for him?

And for about a half a week now its been getting worse and worse. Now she is also having trouble seeing, and is experiencing ear ache's and headaches. While she is still shaking. What could be the issue?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had their cat on low dose aspirin for a long time? Our twelve year old cat was diagnosed with as heart condition, along with other things. The vet says she'll have to be on heart meds and high blood pressure meds for good, and is considering aspirin, also. He's hesitant because the aspirin can cause other problems. I'm wondering if anyone else has had any experience with a problem like this.
Avatar n tn I have read so often that you should not take Plavix and aspirin, but it seems to also be common to prescribe both plavix and aspirin in certain situations. I am worried and confused. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I tried taking aspirin with it and it caused me to have internal bleeding, so of course it was discontinued. Now I would only take aspirin if I felt that I was having another heart attack. The latest precaution about Plavix is to not take omeprazole with it (Prilosec, Prevacid or Nexium). Hope that helps, but you really need a cardiologist.
Avatar f tn Given my overall situation I am concerned about heart attacks and strokes.Do you think I should be taking 75mg of aspirin a day as well as the warfarin? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I've had three miscarriages and my doctor prescribed me baby aspirin (same as low dose aspirin) right after the last one. I am now 6 months pregnant & have been taking 1 pill everyday along with my prenatal vitamins since last January. You can ask your doctor about it & see what they say.
189134 tn?1237726277 took pregnancy test tuesday and today went for blood work and came back that I am. Doc told me to take a baby asprin due to my thick blood... has anyone had similar problem with their blood?
Avatar n tn Aspirin, What are the advantages and disadvantages. 75mg should it be taken everyday? This is for thinning of the blood, even if the Cholesterol is normal like 3.2mmols.
Avatar m tn ve already had a heart attack or stroke, or if you have been found by your doctor to be at high or moderate risk for heart attack or stroke, the benefits of taking aspirin can trump the risks. That’s because aspirin acts as an anti-inflammatory and an inhibitor of blood clotting. For those at risk, aspirin is one of the drugs in our arsenal (along with statins, ACE inhibitors, and beta blockers) that can help keep a coronary event from occurring in the first place or recurring.
Avatar f tn I was told to take a baby aspirin with this pregnancy helps to prevent eclamosia and my high blood pressure but its no more than eighty one mg a day
Avatar m tn You might want to ask your doctor about taking enteric coated aspirin. Sometimes aspirin can give you stomach problems and some doctors are ok with patients taking enteric coated tabs to prevent that.
