m back on Ranitidine as the side affects of Lansoprazole were unpleasant and just as bad or worse as the GERD. When I stopped taking Lansoprazole I had bad symptoms for a few days but they subsided. However since then my Acid Reflux / GERD has been more or less what it was before starting Lansoprazole. Some days its worse than others.
I've also read about the negative side effects of PPI drugs.
This is because lansoprazole and other proton pump inhibitors weaken the bones and have been linked to the development of osteosteoporosis.
People who are at higher risk for sustaining such injuries are those who take higher doses of this medication and those who take this medication for one year or longer. Also, people who are 50 years of age and older are also at risk of sustaining similar injuries.
This vitamin is essential for the normal formation of red blood cells and proper functioning of nerves and nervous system. A deficiency in vitamin B12 decreases the production of red blood cells leading to anaemia.The treatment of this deficiency is either oral ingestion of vitamin B12 or injections. He should consume a diet rich in meat, milk, cheese, and eggs, , leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits, , fortified breads and cereals which are rich in vitamin B12 and folic acid.
I've been wondering why I've been so exhausted and at my check up I found out I am now anaemic. Thank goodness I figured out why I have been so tired. Now I just have to take extra vitamins. Other than that everything looks great! Feeling very anxious for my little man to arrive! I am 30+4 today!
Anyway, a month later, (yesterday) I was prescribed lansoprazole but I have done some research and it says lansoprazole can cause kidney failure. Should I take these tablets or wait till Friday and get a second opinion from the hospital on my assessment?
However, I am now realising that the vast majority of these have probably been related to the anaemia. My haemoglobin is currently 7.5 and my iron stores are almost depleted. My headaches are currently chronic and seem to be changing a little too in that I have serious pain on the right side of my head, most especially towards the base. I have also pressure like pains around the top of my head.
I really hope someone will respond to this because it's getting worse.
Okay, so I'm a fifteen year old female who's in her GCSE year and lately I've been getting headaches. They start off minor so I just ignore them but then they tend to spread and the pain gets a LOT worse. It's leading to blackouts and it's happening a lot now.
I ws perescribed lansoprazole which worked instantly. however after over 2 weeks of no nausea and feeling great the nause has returned....has anyone any words of advice and what i can do to reduce it? my blood levels all came bck clear except for the pancreas one??? which shows levels of 130 as opposed to recommened 100.
The doctor tried me on omeprazoles about 6 mths ago then had me on lansoprazole once a day.After six weeks symptons were much better,and the last 3 to 4 weeks of that time, pain and discomfort were totally gone.
Then it came back boxing day with revenge,then i started taking lansoprazole back
again.
Unable to have any relief ,decided to see doctor again about 3 to 4 weeks ago and it was decided i should have a breath test,which came back 2 weeks later positive.
Doctor gave me prenisolone and antibiotics to check it wasnt an infection but all that happened was my stomach felt like it had been kicked by a horse, I had a horrible taste in my mouth and major acidy feeling. The doc eventually suggested I went back on lansoprazole and after about 3 weeks I felt back to normal.
When I was feeling better I was scheduled in for an endoscopy and the results were bile and acid reflux, esophogisits and gastritis.
It may be u r in a flare and that is y u do not know individual triggers, but u should avoid certain foods, greasy, acidic, spicy, and carbonated bevs....and caffeine.....so coffee and some teas.
I had it so bad one time I got the reflux from water, but that is bcuz everything was so upset, and u have to stick to the modification of ur diet and lifestyle to help calm it down....
My doc prescribed me Lansoprazole gastro resistant as there has been blood in my vomit recently. Has anyone taken it or know anything about it?
I will see how things improve with my iron shot and daily proferrin tablets (3x per day) and if my iron doesn't rise enough look into a stool sample. If that doesn't tell the story, then I will get a colonoscopy.
I am fairly certain my low iron is caused by my thyroid issue.
A complete blood test including the various indices which specifically measures the amount of iron in your body is important, as iron levels can be low enough to cause hair thinning but not low enough to cause anaemia, and a simple full blood count, which is the standard test for anaemia, may miss milder iron deficiency. Iron supplements can restore iron levels to normal and may help your hair to recover its previous thickness.
