Avatar f tn Hello,`I am new at this soo.. i was diagnosed a yr ago and was put on effexor that didn't help, and serequel for racing thoughts. then my doc put me on wellbutrin xr that was ok for a couple of months but my depression has worsed tremendously and i am taking wellbutrin xr 200 mg, serequel 50mg, and clonapin. the wellbutrin has no effect on me at all and i was actually wondering about topamax. i have tried almost every antidepressent and nothing.
Avatar n tn t like the sexual side effects. Lamictal, though, seems to only be approved for treating bipolar disorder and epilepsy. I have never been diagnosed with bipolar disorder nor do I have epilepsy. Is my psychiatrist really going out on a limb prescribing Lamictal for anxiety/depression?
Avatar f tn I am on seroquel xr 300mg, along with lamictal. Doc says I may be able to eliminate the seroquel if I get stabilized with lamictal.
Avatar n tn However, she said I may be the treatment resistence type so prescribed me 25MG of lamictal to add to my 37.5mg of Effexor XR. I am supposed to take 12.5mg/day for one week then start on the full 25mg. I took the first 12.5mg last night and this morning I woke up feeling hungover, with tense twitching muscles and slight vision troubles. I felt groggy until about 3pm today. Is this normal when starting this medicine--will these side effects wear off usually? thanks all.
Avatar m tn Some of the one I am familiar with are Abilify, Geodon, Depakote, Lamictal, Lithium, Remeron, Aoloft, Prozac, and many many more. You may want to post and ask for a website link to get more info. I know one site www. NAMI.org is very good and has links. I think it boils down to good old fashion research. Usually it's a combination of 2 or 3 meds to treat the different symtoms of Bipolar. Most people are not on just one med.
2010625 tn?1329372056 hi i take seroquel xr and normal seroquel for bipolar disorder. the seroquel xr is a slow release tablet so it works over the night and the day. so i take the seroquel xr 450mg at about 7.30pm then at about 9.30pm i take the normal seroquel 250mg. it helps with sleep too.
1134609 tn?1269272200 5mgs, three times a day) and my shrink and I are thinking about kicking over to Xanax XR. I would prefer not to be on a benzo, but I hate the Klonopin, it makes the depression worse. If I have found, by taking Xanax XR are a PRN, that it lifts my mood as well as calming me down. The Klonopin just drags me out. What are some of the pros and cons of making this switch?
Avatar m tn For the last year or so I was taking 300mg/day Wellbutrin Xr and also 200mg lamictal. I have also taken Buspar for around a year. Around a week ago, I decided to lower my dosage to 150mg. of Lamictal. This is what my psychiatrist had suggested 8 months ago might be capping my happiness. She left town and I had an appointment made with a new guy at a new place this week. About 10 days ago, noticed before the appt my script would run out.
607502 tn?1288247540 Yeah, I hear good things about lamictal too, especially for bipolar depression, but I've never tried it Seroquel was a life saver for me too. However, it did not do all that much for the depression and I struggled with side effects for 7 months I feel I have given it a good shot. I am pretty much in the same boat as you in facing a change. I see my pdoc in a fortnight. It will be interesting to know how you get on so please keep me posted!
Avatar f tn So i just had my daughter 4 months ago and I also have a 3 yr old boy..I've had severe anxiety and depression(finally diagnosed as bipolar disorder) aand I'm also ADD and OCD(not diagnosed tho) When i'm pregnant I feel really great. my symptoms aren't nearly as bad and I'm in a great mood..I was taking Lamictal before I got pregnant and stopped as soon as I found out i was pregnant.
Avatar n tn I have Bipolar 2 and PMDD. I switched from Geodon to Lamictal in December 2010. Since that point, my depression has greatly improved and I feel like my old self. But, ever since I began Lamictal, the Lexapro that controlled the PMDD issue for years, stopped working. I'm now having severe PMDD issues every month. My doctor switched me from Lexapro to Viibryd a week ago. I am experiencing increased appetite, gastrointestinal distress, and can't sleep.
Avatar f tn Psych: Effexor XR, Topamax, Lexapro, Seroquel, Trazadone, Xanax (prn) Other: Aciphex (GERD), Detrol (Urinary issue), Evoxac (Sjogrens), Levoxyl (Thyroid), Oxycotin (pain), Plaquenil (Lupus), Provigil (alterness), Vicodin PRN (pain), 3 tropical ointments, 8 OTC vitamins/minerals 12 Rx daily (over 20 actual pills, some as many as 4x/day) 3 topicals 2 PRNs 8 OTCs Do I win? I never win anything, so, maybe in my loss of health, I can win in the number of meds I take!
997928 tn?1252444237 I was thinking that maybe I just need to take the Lamictal and not take the celexa since the lamictal is weight neutral.. Does anyone taking Lamictal think it will work for my mood swings?
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have tried Seroquel and Seroquel XR three times and had the same adverse reaction to it each time. It makes me hypermanic and gives me a bad case of akathisia. All three times, it was terrible; I just couldn't calm down. But, she just keeps after it, along with the other anti-psychotics, all with the high potential for agitation and akathisia... I mean, BUSPAR, agitated the heck out of me, 5mgs of CELEXA agitated me....
Avatar f tn m at my last resort after being on Depakote, Lamictal, Geodon, and Cymbalta. If anyone has had any experience with either of these drugs, I'd like to know what you thought of them.
Avatar m tn Because they can certainly cause the symptoms you are describing. It would be best to discuss this with your doctor. The bipolar alone will not cause that.
433485 tn?1321813390 Hi. I am on Lexapro and klonopin, lamictal and seraquel. I am diagnosed bipolar 2. I have been feeling pretty good lately but my question is, has any one experienced anxiety, even with being on meds?
505907 tn?1258369340 For more information about bipolar disorder (which consists of bipolar depression and bipolar mania), google "Phelps + psych education." Some mood stabilizer med work from the bottom up; they are best for treating bipolar depression. Other mood stabilizer meds work from the top down; they are best for treating bipolar mania. Depending on whether your mood episode is mania or depression, your doctor should choose an appropriate mood stabilizer.
Avatar n tn -struggling with family, friends, the world, relationships, jobs, travelling, losing it, finding it, becoming high hopeful, optimistic, flirtatious, then crashing down, becoming suicidal, SOMEBODY finally told me i need medication because i have bipolar disorder!
1303966 tn?1296740010 Sorry to hear about everything! I know how you feel...have been on a number of different anti-seizure meds for 14 years now, and totally understand how you feel. If it helps, things usually improve somewhat after you've been on the meds for 5 or 6 months....kind of get used to the dosage, although it isn't easy to deal with all the side effects.
Avatar f tn When my psych increased my Rispridal, I gained 6lbs in 5 days while eating the same as previously. As I'm also on Abilify, Lamictal, and Effexor XR and have a very hard time losing any of the weight I really need to lose, I talked to her about it, and she ended up giving me a script for Metflorpen. It's a med that's technically for pre-diabetics, but is often given to people dealing with *severe* weight gain from side effects. It changes how the body uses the calories that we eat.
Avatar f tn Lamictal 300mg, Effexor XR 300mg, and now just recently started taking Adderol for the distraction caused by the Lamictal. So far the Adderol hasn't had much affect. Would you recommend as a replacement for Lamictal?
1134609 tn?1269272200 the cycling just never seems to end. I am on 225mgs of Lamictal, 1600mgs of Neurontin and 1.5mgs of Klonopin. I have Xanax XR as a PRN and had too take that, along with 5 melatonin and 3 Benadrtyl to sleep last night; ridiculous...I still have a bunch of Xanax XR floating around in my system and it's not putting a dent into the mania. Over the past two weeks, my psychiatrist and I have tried Lithium (became very agitated) and Seroquel (made the cycling far worse).
1687184 tn?1307478592 I was recently prescribed lamictal for bipolar 2. My problem is that I wake up every morning pick the bottle up, consider taking as the psychdoc ordered me to, then I put it back down, without taking any. I have alot of fears and concerns over taking this medicine. I have read everything I can find on this med and have found more positive than negative.
2176476 tn?1338605299 I am currently taking Risperdal, Lamictal, Lithium, and Lexapro. I was on Seroquel XR for quite sometime, but switched back to Risperdal because 1) it is a heck of a lot cheaper, and 2) it really worked well for me, even better than Seroquel. I believe in the fact that medications work quite differently for everyone. I personally have not had any issues with my current combination.
Avatar m tn I have soft bipolar, bipolar II with no mania. Week and a half ago after takin 250 of Depakote for about 2 months and taking 500 for about 1 month (blood work was done) my doctor decided upper me up to 750 for a week then take 1000mg. At the same day I went up to 750 I have decreased my Xanax XR cutting down frm 1.5mg to 1mg. I was taking the Xanax for almost two years.
Avatar f tn I take Seroquel for Bipolar 1. Do you have Bipolar 1 or 2? Welbutrin works good for me when I am depressed. Seroquel knocks me out at night so that I don't get manic and need hospitalization. It's worked for 5 years, but it causes daytime drowsiness and I can't really work or drive much anymore. When I was on depakote I could hold down 3 jobs and go to college, but it started affecting my liver. Lithium was awful for me, but some people do really well on it.
Avatar f tn was diagnosed as being bipolar. The prescription that he got was a generic form of Lamictal. I visited him today & saw the pill bottle, it says "41" but there were only 9 pills left in the container. The date was Dec. 19 - that's only been 7 days ago & it says to take "1 for the lst 7 days & then take 2 a day". I asked him why there were so few in the bottle & he said the pharmacy didn't have enough to fill the entire prescription.
