Lamictal and zoloft together

Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal and zoloft together

Do your own research, but apparently you can take both together. I have taken Wellbutrin and my husband does for bipolar (him) and we did not gain wt. on it. It just did not work for me, so I switched to Lexapro. It helped me in less than a week. I have been on it for several years and actually lost wt. while on it. I was actively trying to lose wt. and had no problems doing it while taking the Lexapro.
I take lamictal, Seroquel, zoloft and Wellbutrin. lamictal works VERY well. I'm really pleased with the medication. lamictal is a rashy drug - so don't be concerned if you get a rash. Chances that its the toxic rash are VERY VERY low. Only be concerned if you get a rash and a fever together. CrazyMeds website explains this all pretty well. The only side effect I get from lamictal is the stupid "lamictal Headache." Which can be a bother.
I currently am on lamictal and Wellbutrin and have not experienced hair loss. However, a couple of years ago I was on a variety of medications including zoloft, Xanax, Trazadone and Clonapin and noticed the hair loss. I went from having thick hair to very thin and brittle. My hair is finally starting to thicken up. Has your doctor said anything about the combination of medication that you may be taking? Best of luck to you.
Would taking the two together have a combined effect of causing more memory loss and concentration problems? Would higher doses affect memory and other cognitive functions more than lower doses? Would lamictal be a better alternative to Depakote for someone with Bipolar I who is having memory and concentration problems when taking Depakote? Any input or insight would be greatly appreciated.
I got off all and crashed. Doctor put me on zoloft and Xanax. I felt AWFUL on zoloft. Terrible flu-like symptoms going on and up and worse coming down and off. Two months AFTER being off zoloft I continued to have withdrawal symptoms My last zoloft dose, and I tapered down slowly, was 8-31-06. I then had to taper down and go off Xanax (last Xanax dose was yesterday, 12-14-06). Continuing headaches, twitches, flu-like symptoms. I have read that this is all withdrawal symptoms.
hello everyone, My question is I being taking lamictal for the past 3 years, and zoloft, and vyvinse both of my dosages were reduce, because I thought I was getting better do to my routine with yoga of every day. I must said that doing yoga olmost every day helps me a lot; It is about 6 months that I don't take any sleeping pills or the vyvinse as well for the last 3 months I am not taking the zoloft only the lamictal.
Hi, I take effexor and celexa together and zoloft is in the same class. I have heard of people takin the two together. I have takne trzodone but by itself...couldn't take it as I walked around like a Zombie. How long have you been on this cocktail? You could call your doctor and let him know your meds are not helping, call your pharmacy to find out about drug interactions.
Seemed like I stayed up forever last night ( took my 1st dose last night) Also is it okay to take my zoloft and lactimal together?? Thank you for any input.
im on lexapro, lamictal, geodon and you think this should be enough to beat the chance of depression??....again, i was told by doctors i was not taking enough to even experience withdrawal symptoms....thx...
I take lamictal and zoloft together. I recently had to take a drug test and I tested positive for pcp. Do you think one of the drugs or two of the drugs together could have made me test positive for PCP. I don't take any other drugs, including recreational drugs, at this time.
Second, are you still on lithium? Or, did you change to lamictal and Seroquel and drop lithium entirely? The first time I was on lamictal I was also taking Topomax. They said that one or the other of those was likely to cause a slight weight LOSS and reduced carbohydrate cravings. But, maybe that was the topomax... I'm pleased to hear you didn't have weight gain on lithium, but sorry that you have experienced it taking other meds. Do you find the Seroquel effective?
But I did switch drugs because I was on zoloft for a year and a half and gained 30 lbs. and could not, for the life of me, lose any of it. I could eat 700 calories a day and exercise 30 minutes a day and still not lose one pound. Took 4 months after going off of it before I could lose anything. I've been losing weight lately, but I've also been working at it.
My heavy periods are almost non-existent. But I can't live on valium and my other choice is zoloft. I'm 50 and I just wanted help with perimenopause. Guess I'll go to plan B. Menopause can't be that far away - right ;-}? Good luck!
I tried lamictal but it made me literally stupid and gave me horrible acne, then I tried Depakote but it made me like the living dead I was miserable and tired and I gained 20lbs and started losing my hair (i didnt appreciate that), currently I'm on trileptal which is great because my hair came back and my depakote weight went away but i dont think it is getting rid of my seizures so its basically useless, so now I am slowly adding topamax to my regime!
I am on Wellbutrin, Effexor, Provigial, Neurontin and lamictal. MD finally got these meds and they have symptoms some. Man those night sweets, nightmares, confusion, concentration, memory loss have me wondering if I have Alzehimer's (sp) .My disease has resulted in me being disabled and unable yo work. Filed for SSA Disability. Probably will deny. I was forgetting things at work. Also getting further and further behind in my paperwork. Lost my job. See, I am a nurse (RN ).
But your question is a good one, and an important one, and I hope that you and your psychiatrist can work together to come up with satisfactory answers, perhaps using some version of a Retrospective Mood Chart. Take care.
After having the twins my body and brain chemicals were different and the meds weren't helping me the way were before the twins so i stopped taking zoloft and swithched to effexor and stayed with the stimulants for the add now I am in the process of adding a mood stabelizer as well and then hopefully i will start getting better my mood swings are the big problem because I am having severe depressive episodes. I am really glad your getting help and that you got a second opinion.
Life has been one hell of a roller coaster, but in this time I have managed to graduate college and an MBA, secure and maintain a well-paying and fulfilling business career and marry the love of my life (and hang on to her thus far). I have seen 3 different family doctors, 2 different psychiatrists and 1 endocrinologist...
heya, Glad I came across this community, enjoyed reading some of the posts, helpful info for sure. Currently I am taking Wellbutrin XL, topamax, lamictal, and Xanax (for sleep) and have been feeling desperate on what to try next for my Bipolar. I started on meds over 10 years ago when I was "diagnosed" (although not told with that terminology", then put eventually on Seraquel, zoloft, Prozac, Buspar, Celexa......
but i cant stop crying and being angry and iam still having seizues, and started me on zoloft, and dont understand iam taking meds for epilepsy than Med for the said Effects ,cuz its making me Depresset? GOD..

I am diagnosed with BPD, Panic disorder and Bipolar II disorder and am currently taking lamictal, Prozac and Lyrica for sleep. I am also taking percocet for the horrible panic episodes that I have because that seems to work as well for me. I think I know why this works for some people. In an article that I read a couple of years ago,(unfortunatly I lost it) they said that the brain produces it's own morphine.
Was so-so. Better, but still had intense ups and downs. Right now, I'm taking Wellbutrin XL and lamictal. The lamictal seems to be working really well to stabilize my mood. For some reason, right now...I am VERY irritable and lots of anger episodes occuring. So, not sure this is the right combination for me. But that's where I've been. I think if you find the right meds, they can be life savers. The ARE overly prescribed by doctors that don't have experience in psychiatry.
I adjusted up on Wellbutrin. Actually saw my pdoc today and talked about reinitiation the zoloft I was originally on (worked wonders just had sexual side effects). She explained the commonness of it, so I felt relieved. She spoke of all the progress and insight I have had, which most of the mental health professionals and peers in therapy have said to me. I don't really feel it sometimes.
A few weeks ago, she had a seizure-like episode at work. She was talking to a co-worker, and the co-worker said that Lindsey look like she was in a daze, then stiffened up & started posturing and then she fell. After falling, she hit her head and had to get 2 staples. She was unconscious before she fell and has no recollection of the episode. Co-workers say she woke up at her office and was asked if she new where she was.
Ate and went to the library. Bought a bunch of candy on the way and dropped off my new script for zoloft and more of the old lamictal/Wellbutrin combo. Stayed in the library for about an hour, then had to leave because my stomach hurt and I had completed the study guide. Driving over to the 24 hour CVS to get my script on the way home, I saw a friend who I had a falling out with about half a year ago.
I don't want to switch the lexapro all together because its def. helped more and has had less side effects than anyother I have been on. I have also tried zoloft, prozax, paxil, and wellbutrin xr. Anyways, I was just wondering what expeirences anyone else has had on abilify? I know it effects everyone different but.....
I started out on zoloft and xanax for my panic attacks and anxiety. I took the xanax for a year, and my dr wanted me to get off of it. He put me on Neurontin. 500 mg total a day with the zoloft. WOW, it works! I'm of the xanax and feel better than I have in a year or so. I recommend neurotin to people, strongly!! Any comments from people? ***@**** feel free to ask me any questions, i know how panic and anxiety sucks!!!
