Januvia is a good medication, although it may not be enough to bring your glucose levels under good control given that your A1C is so high. Insulin is one of the options and it is a good one because it works. Using needles is not something people prefer, but if it makes you healthy in the long run it is much better than the alternative Still, there are many other medications that can be taken by mouth besides Januvia, so you may not need insulin just yet.

I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them, the plus side is that I have lost weight so am very happy about that but wondered if anyone else has experienced the stomach pain and if so how long did it take for it to subside. If anyone has any advice etc I would be so grateful.

I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?

I ask because it is difficult to determine how long it may take Januvia to take affect with your personal medical history. After one week, I suggest you notify your doctor and let him/her know that your levels remain higher than normal.

Being a Veteran and on VA benefitsI was barely able to afford Victoza by purchasing from Canada, since the US Government (Bamacare) stopped shipments of that med from Canada I had to purchase it from a US distributor at twice the price, can't afford it and it's replacement Januvia isn't working, Blood Sugar in the 200s and gaining weight. Any suggestions???

Anyway within the last year or so her urine has started to smell REALLY bad when she goes to the bathroom it smells up the whole side of the house and it lingers really long, sprays and scented candle do nothing to cover the odor. She drinks plenty of water during the day and I dont beleave her diet has anything to do with it she does not have UTI and she just had a test done on her Kidneys and they were ok. 81 year old Mom on Glip/Metform 5-500 1 1/2 pills breakfast-lunch-dinner and 50mg Januvia breakfast and dinner. Can these be increased or is insulin next?

I will have to go back and see if I can find that one. It was really interesting. Seems to be all upside down in the way it works as to the way you would think it did. I alwasys thought when stocks were way up, it was a good thing. I will have to see if I can find it or the link to it so ya all can have a look see.

I have lost weight and my bloold sugar level has drop 2 points. So far I have not has any side effects. It works for me.

I know januvia can cause joint pains. Did she have these pains bedore she started taking her meds? It can also be totally unrelated.

I am diabetic with 136/166 respectively fasting and PP. I am on medication like Amryl M2 forte, Januvia 50 pre breakfast and Cetrapin XR 500 post dinner. Storevas 10 and cardace 2.5 post dinner. I have been given Nexovas 10 in the morning too. My BP is 120/80 as per latest report. I am from the army Retd and 49 years. My weight is 87 and is on the higher side with hieght at 176. I always took drinks in the evenings controlled. Kindly advice. I am off it since my liver is fatty as per USG.

Everyone is different so what works for me may not for you. I take glyburide,januvia and two insulins. My sugar is in much better control now and symptons(sweating,shakes tired)occure much lesss often.

Hi, I recently posted about severe side effects I was experiencing with the drug Januvia , I had severe stomach pains and sore throat. My doctor has now prescribed Galvus and said they are from the same family as Januvia. Has anybody tried this drug? if so did you experience any side effects ,especially stomach pains? . It may sound stupid but I am a little scared to take Galvus after what happened before.

I want to know if it will do harm to take both menications can i take januvia for diabetic and phentermine at the same time or will i get a reaction to the medication

Why is it that even though my latest A1C was 6.0 and my numbers are always around 100, I still get terrible pain and cramping?
